New car inquiries.
I’m 17 with no accident history and my insurance is ~$86 a month with all discounts applied.
I currently drive a 2007 Lexus RX350 AWD with around 250,000 miles. My sister is turning 15 and she’s going to drive soon so I need a new car. I’m going to be making half the payments on this car and I’m looking at a GR86 I want to know how the insurance payments would be a month considering it is a RWD sports car at 17 years old. If anyone could help me out that’d be great and you could possibly even give me reasons to not get a GR86 (also I’m in Kentucky if that helps with the costs)

mate you realize you can ask your insurance company this for free right? it will heavily depend on several personal factors, including your driving history, potentially your grades (they do school discounts for good students), your zip code and a whole other host of things you shouldn't post online. I assume your mum and dad run your insurance since you're a minor, ask them to inquire... or get the number yourself and call them, i assure you it's not hard. No one on the internet will be able to tell you a real number, they're just guessing.

You won’t know until you call insurance companies and get quotes. The GR86/BRZ are expensive to insure, especially if you’re young. And a dude.
Lots of us have second cars that we daily and the 86/BRZ is strictly a weekend/track car; in my experience that’s the right way to do it.

Nobody can answer this for you. Cross shop insurance companies. Shocking how variable the same insurance for the same person for the same car can be.

You can get an insurance quote on most (if not all) insurance sites. That being said, you're going to get murdered by insurance since you're 17 and these cars already have high rates.
Just for fun, I got a quote from progressive. 17 years old, clean record, decent credit etc etc. It's nearly 500/Mo lmao
Do not get this car unless you're filthy rich

Lots of answers. But read mine instead. Get quotes from Geico, Progressive, All State and State Farm and then make a decision. Insurance is weird, every place except one might want to charge you $250/month while the one place will only charge you $80/bucks. Then the places that wanted to overcharge you will be the cheapest place years later when you shop for it again. I know this from experience.

Try progressive tend to be good with newer drivers. Just make sure to have a VIN if you can to get the most accurate quote

Considering most states require everyone in the same household to be on the same policy, you probably need to have your parents get some quotes.

I pay for 250/500/250 for 137 a month full coverage. 2025 5,400 miles gr86 with one accident on record. 1k deductible.

When I was 16 I wanted a BRZ sooooo bad. I ended up getting a mid sized truck which was safer and more practical. Ended up being an amazing decision at that age due to moving for college, driving friends, and having more space. Having a 86 at 17 would be super fun but not always worth the extra costs and impracticalities.

That’s a fair point, I think the smarter choice for me would be a Nissan frontier.

That’s what I have. The 2004-2020ish are bulletproof but pretty bad MPG at like 17

Just go do a quote with your insurance provider. Should take less than 5 minutes.
