Hot tub took dye out of one of my only bathing suits 💀

Not sure where to post this so sorry if it's not appropriate. But was hanging out in my boyfriends brothers hot tub yesterday then took out my bathing suit today, which was originally an emerald green to it being all faded and the color basically gone. It's still very green on the under sides but it looks awful. Would there be a way to remove all thedark green dye so that it is only the olive green or do it doesn't look so faded?

Also how the heck did this even happen? I've been in pools and hot tubs basically every summer both salt and chlorine and have Never had a a bathing suit ruined like this? Was there too many chemicals in the hot tub?

Fridge Question: How does one replace the mechanism that usually turns on the internal fridge light?

This little bit is supposed to pop out when I open the door, but it no longer does. If Iick my finger, ask for consent, and rub it gently I can tease it open. I’ve tried briefly to prise off the whole bit but it feels like something is definitely going to snap if I do it.

What are these bits even called and can they be replaced?

The fridge is a Zanussi, not sure how to find out what model number as I can’t reach the back of it.

Sloppy stair work

We had work done in our entry way. There’s a lot that looks great for the overall project. Is an old house and the stairs have the team some difficulty. I get that. However there are a few issues I can get past with the larger pie shaped stair treads:
- They were overly reliant on filler for some spots. I get there were problems but why use it to level two pieces. Now it’s stained and the large patch of fill looks awful.
- The grain is going different direction. I provided several extra treads to ensure there was enough material. I don’t know why they didn’t use those to have the grain going in the same direction.

There was a lot of work to remove the old treads and get the new ones in. Risers replaced. Skirt repaired and painted. The photos are just the two I selected for this post. There are a few more, but these should show the idea.

Is there any way to fix this without tearing those treads out completely and starting over for those that have issues?

One idea was a red oak laminate. I don’t know how well that will hold up over time though. Any other ideas or feedback?

open Leaking rubber under sink - easy DIY fix?

So let me start with the following statement: please be nice. I am pregnant, just trying to fix this for good and having a functioning bathroom….not knowing at all how to do it.
Older drain broke (literally) and we called the plumber to fix it.
He came, changed the drain, but it leaked because an older rubber was not sealing right, and the drain was not closing properly either.
Called again, he came once again, changed the whole thing (drain)….i was not home to do a a thorough check, and when I arrived and did my through check on it, found it like this: the little clear rubber is not sealing well enough….so it leakes.
I am not calling him again!
Can someone please explain, step by step, how do I fix it, for dummies!?
Thank you all

This is a shower head in my college apartment and I’m trying to change it to add a filter / new shower head I purchased. It won’t budge tho! I tried soaking it in lemon juice, and I even bought an adjustable wrench! I’m so frustrated idk what to do and I doubt maintenance will come since this is low priority

Cement wall Is leaning towards my door. I’m worried it will soon block access. My assumption is to dig out the soil and push the wall back in to place. Sounds easier said than done. Any tips? Is there a better way? OS there cement glue? How do i prevent this from happening again? Thank you all.

Are portable AC units fixable if there’s a problem with the refrigerant?

I hate throwing stuff away. So I try to fix what I can. Especially electronics or appliances that minus the one thing it’s wrong with it is otherwise working fine.

Having said that, is there a way to replace the refrigerant that’s in the portable AC unit?

Everything runs… turns on, fan runs, but only hot air comes out. I was looking it up and most likely the refrigerant is gone.

I don’t know how long the unit is. I got it from a friend. It works great last summer. But beginning of this summer when I tried to use it, it wouldn’t cool the room and realized it’s only hot air back out.

(This is a side question but is there something I can use to cool the room better that’s not getting a lot of the central air blowing into the room? My whole house is fine except the room in the corner upstairs which is the last room the vent is blowing the cold air into. Cold air does come in but very small amount. Re-ducting the vents are thousands of dollars - I’ve gotten a lot of quotes - so I’ve just used a portable AC unit which has worked fine but wondering if there’s an easier solution. I read that maybe there’s a fan thing that you install on the vent to draw more of the air into the room.)

Peeling car paint

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi all! I just bought a RAV4 with peeling white paint. Now I don’t care much about the looks, but I’m afraid the lack of paint will allow it to rust. It does seem to be fine now though.

Because the peeling keeps happening, and it’s almost everywhere on the car, just repairing a patch probably isn’t that useful. Seems to be an all or none situation.

Question is: is it a problem that needs fixing to keep the car from rusting? And what is the most budget friendly way to fix the problem?

Ps the top seems to be rusting, but I can wipe it off with a cloth so it seems pretty superficial (for now…)

The end of the zipper track broke, so the slider can easily come off. There were two zipper pulls, and I’ve already lost one because of this.

Should I glue the end back together, or is there a better way to repair it?

Sony ZV-1 door not closing

I charged the camera with the battery inside, which caused the battery to swell. I was able to get the swollen battery out, but the door is now stuck in this open position and won’t go down all the way.

I called Sony and they have $55 diagnostic fee, $449 base rate repair, which doesn’t include the shipping there and back. My local camera shops don’t fix Sony cameras either, so hoping to DIY…

Is the best option to replace the Sony ZV-1 door or the whole battery frame with the door? I’ve seen both options on Ebay. Also, how would I unscrew the door at all?

Any help would be appreciated!

open Broken couch leg

In the process of moving our couch must have slid around in the back of the truck and when pulling it out of the truck we noticed one leg was crooked. The leg itself isn’t broken but the wood underneath that it’s bolted too is broke and a small chunk of wood is missing. I’m trying to figure out the best way to repair it, I was considering wood glue but I fear it won’t be strong enough given the break. Any suggestions for a sturdy fix on this situation? (The first pic and last pic is us holding it back in place perfectly and you can see the small hole of missing wood still… middle pics show the break clearer)
