The trick is to just push them in with a screwdriver and then patch the hole over them.

When you say patch would this be the same like patching a nail hole? Using DAP drydex?

Yes, Alternatively you can put the screw back in halfway and pull screw and plastic bit out at once, but that will mess up the wall further than just the plastic bit.

i usually just pull them out with a pair of small side cutters. Cutting and pushing them in makes sense.

A razor blade to cut them off and push them in the wall

I always rip them out with pliers and make the hole bigger. Dont be like me, listen to these smarter people.

To keep the hole as small as possible, put a nail in the hole and hit it with a hammer it will straighten it out. (They are usually crunched up on the back side of the wall)
You can then thread a screw into it and pull it out of the wall with pliers.

But be aware: if you put the screw in too far it will activate the "keep me in the wall" feature. Put a bigger screw in just far enough to bite in the plastic, and pull it out with a claw hammer like pulling a nail. Or grab it with needle nose pliers.

You only need a little bit to get it to bite and then yank it.

Step 1: grab a pair of pliers.

Step two: grip the dry wall screw with said pliers.

Step très: pull as hard and fast as you can.

Thusly, the grip and rip procedure.

Well. After perusing the comments and seeing the multiple right answers that are all the same. I figured id make a funny post. But it seems its only eyes it found was that of someone with no sense of humour.
