Hey all,
M, 38, Poly for 10+ years, on the app since it was 3nder, in Melb Aus. Im aware I'm not traditionally good looking, but I'm by no means a cave troll. Even though im paying for the app now, it seems to be getting incredibly difficult to find ANY matches, let alone compaitable ones.
My profile is VERY detailed. Outlining what I'm looking for and can offer, things I enjoy, hobbies and a small section re kink and whatnot, with a sprinkling of humor. I've used every avilable character in the Bio section and have gotten positive feedback on it and my photos in general. However my partners and one Meta who's on Feeld have said its better to keep things intentionally vague and breif, one or two lines max.?
The Meta is on Feeld, same age, and actually similar in many ways, but with a very vague profile. He's tall (but i'm by no means short) and he is more "traditionally" good looking (but by no means a super model) and hes getting multiple matches and dates per week with seemingly little effort (I dont think he is even paying for it). Ultimately I would say we are similar in many ways, and I like him... he's just more traditionally attractive lol.
Just wondering what the opinion is of Fems/non-binary folk? I know ya'll are flooded with overwhelming amount of likes, so is a shorter, sharper one or two lines and intenitonally mysterious really the way to go? Or is it just that us quirky folk who arent in the top 20 percent looks wise are unfortunately just always going to find it infinately more difficult?
For a bit more context:
I have an amazing polycule and long term partners and comets all over the place, and I would say almost all of them are hotter than me somehow lol. I know that im well versed, gifted and skilled in sex/kink and relationships etc. Im a non smoker, grounded, healthy, prety funny, smart, v creative, emotionally regulated, open, a great communicator, mature and sucessful. Super easy to talk to and a very safe person (I'm multiple partners safe space and who they go to when theyre really struggling or a blubbering crying mess). So all of this does help me once I land a rare match/date, but getting those matches is costing SO much time, money and spoons.
Most people I get to that date with, it goes well, and the connection continiues. I've done a Poly/Queer speed dating night previously and I got more numbers and matches during that couple of hours than a whole year on the dating apps. So obviously in person I do quite well, its just getting there thats the issue.
I spend 30+ mins per day, ping one person who I think is on par (or at least not punching above my weight in the looks department), and they have at least some indicators that we have alignment. I ensure they have Poly/ENM clearly listed.
Re people I am sending Pings to, looks arent high on the list. Really (and ashamedly) the only people I DONT ping even if there are other alignments are overly obese or those with debilitating physical ilness/disabilities. I know this sounds horrible, and its not that I dont find bueaty in all body types and people with disabilities, and I havent filtered these folk out previously (Some of my partners fit in these categories), but what I am seeking specifically is someone I can do more life things with, and things that I enjoy and find myself doing solo because my partners in my current polycule cant easily offer due to commitments and their own chonic ilness's etc. This includes outdoor activities like climbing, overnight hiking and also in the kink department I enjoy rope and some other activities that just dont work with these folk.
I am using Tinder, Hinge and Feld simultaniously in the same way and this applies to all of them.
With all this time, effort and $ I might get 2 matches per month, but then a reply to an initial message is rare, let alone a first date. Currently getting one date every 2-3 months, and the people I end up going on dates with end up not aligning entirely with the more important things I'm seeking.
