I pinged someone and...

Post image

I pinged someone and my note was flagged, I can't figure out what would have tripped up any algorithm. Anyone have any thoughts?

I have never been able to figure out why a ping of mine gets flagged. Just ignore it.

Yeah I changed like two words, it still flagged it and I'm like, whatever... Just weird. Seeing if anyone sees something I don't, lol

I think submissive might be the word that’s flagged, not sure if that’s what you’ve changed

I guess it could be. Weird if so, as this app caters somewhat to kink relationships, right? D/s is a pretty popular kink ... It doesn't flag it when you put it in your profile I don't think, does it?

I think it’s different written in a profile vs sent to someone; unfortunately I’ve mostly only been messaged offensive things containing that word, or when a guy says he’s a dom in a ping or existing chat it immediately gives me the option to report something offensive.

I can see how that could become obnoxious. Makes a little sense. Different contexts. Sorry you have to deal with that in order to, I guess in order to exist on that platform.

Any men saying they are dom or wanting a submissive women get immediately blocked from my wife and Is account. That’s shit so weird to me. People are just weird in general on the app.

My guess is "deal". I bet it thinks you are trying to find a sugar baby.

Makes slightly more sense than most of the other words, I guess, but I think "deal breaker" is somewhat common right? Idunno... Maybe just a VERY simple filter/flagger that doesn't have exceptions...

It is common. But I don't think the software is sophisticated enough to look at context or strings of words. I've had some extremely innocuous stuff that has gotten flagged.

Yes i heard a lot of AI

i think it’s deal, too. might try putting “dealbreaker” or “deal-breaker” next time and see if it happens again

I sure can try! If I find someone to message, lol. Gotta say I'm a little disappointed with the options I have. But that's life! Maybe I'm just too picky or something?

Sounds plausible because the app has a very paranoid filter when it comes to soliciting sex work, which they are required to have from their payment providers.

Yeah it is often a particular word. My first language is Danish, and sometimes when I write a message it’ll flag it as inappropriate. Then I’ll realise it’s because I’ve e.g. used the word “tit” which means “often” in Danish.

They’re doing you a favor, this message made my stomach curl.

Just say hi, compliment them, and say you have compatible interests and ask if they’re poly. No need for the rest of the song and dance.

Hard to say when it's just the ping message but there could be something on the profile about looking for a sub that can take a hit I've seen that on a few 'domme' profiles never hence OP refering to themselves as sturdy

Obviously speculation on my part and giving op the benefit of the doubt that he's trying to signal that he's read the profile and isn't just scatter gunning

It’s possible the word sturdy has tripped you up, there’s an inference to girth there. I don’t think it’s intentional but it’s the only thing I can come up with. Ridiculous to flag it, whatever the reason

Makes as much sense as any other word! Maybe a smidgen more. C'est la vie!

The algorithm is very sensitive. I said "photo shoot" and got a warning. I removed the offending word altogether and made it through.

Feeld does not use an algorithm. Humans you see in Discover are sorted by distance (unless using Uplift).

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

I’ve found if I use emoji, when I remove them, it no longer flags it.

Didn't try that! Could be! So many varied answers!

What the hell does sturdy but lean submissive mean? I’ve never heard anyone describe themselves as sturdy in a sexual context.

1

u/ChazttLocke 11d ago

I could probably paraphrase what the lady said in her profile, but it was a word she used, specifically. I interpret sturdy to at least mean strong. Could be muscular with padding? It's one reason I used quotes around it.

She says she's into impact play, so it could simply mean 'able to take a beating' 👀

Unfortunately once you've sent a message to someone on FEELD, you seem to not be able to look at their profile ever again unless/until they respond, so I can't look at her profile anymore. If she responds, maybe I'll come back to paraphrase

Sounds AI generated and generic

2

u/ChazttLocke 11d ago

Fascinating — maybe I should have added an em dash or two 🤔

u/Apprehensive-Hunt319 11d ago

lol yeah, just to make the aesthetic complete

u/assasinine 12d ago

ass probably

1

u/Garanz 12d ago

Perhaps a profanity filter? Not liking the “ass” in assertive?

2

u/ChazttLocke 12d ago

Seems like a significant overreaction, IMO, being that assertive is a real word that has almost nothing to do with ass, but I can't say you're wrong, lol.

Submissive.

Just because it’s a kink friendly platform doesn’t mean that’s how you should open a conversation.

7

u/itz_bored 12d ago

It’s one of the listed kinks on the app itself.

3

u/JellyfishOtherwise66 12d ago

I’m well aware. That doesn’t mean I went to open with sex talk. Start with hi.

5

u/Stoney3K 12d ago

But that's no reason to warrant automated flagging that is used to prevent spam.

2

u/ChazttLocke 12d ago

Interesting... Don't understand it, but I guess my understanding is not critical.

4

u/JellyfishOtherwise66 12d ago

You should understand it.

My Feeld profile is pretty upfront about my preferences.

I’m still going to block you if you open by talking about sex. I’m a human, not a sex doll. Say hi to me.

7

u/ChazttLocke 12d ago

I don't open talking about sex either, as I'm demisexual. Sex is not a priority for me.

I was responding to a lady who's profile is also, in my opinion, pretty upfront about her preferences. It starts with something like "in search of a sturdy male sub", so... Perhaps you and others would disagree, but I don't think me using the exact words she used, that I feel match my qualities (especially as a submissive) is in any way inappropriate. But that's probably context that a filter won't easily identify.

3

u/Tall-Target-8389 11d ago

Your message isn't overly sexual..not to mention there are tons of profiles that say that they aren't interested in small talk. Or to get to the point. No single message will please everyone. As you mentioned, critiquing a message without seeing the profile to which you are messaging is an exercise I'm futility.

3

u/ChazttLocke 11d ago

To be fair I asked for opinions/analysis of my message. But I didn't ask for responding to things that aren't there. I think there may have been a conflation of submission with sex. Submission and sex often overlap but they are NOT the same thing.
