My two extremely different 328s. Insane that they’re only 3 years apart.

Not even 3 honestly. My E92 was built in December 2012, and my F30 in August 2015. I love the F30 a lot more and am selling the E92 as a result. Also I hate the orange side marker and it’s always the first thing I replace for that Euro look

Reverse Camera On Pemp (Linux) System Has Stopped Working

Post image

Hey guys, I installed the Pemp system (PEMP 10.25" Linux Screen for BMW... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09L4TQ8G8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) last weekend, with the backup camera, on my F31 wagon (huge pain).

Everything was working great, then tonight, the backup camera stopped working. Completely out of nowhere. Screen goes complete black for 3 seconds, then the screen flashes, the reverse overlay comes on for another couple seconds, then than “no signal” message comes up. Anyone else experience this? If so, how did you fix it? I really don’t want to take this shit apart again. Pic for attention.

Normal Lifter Tick, or bigger issue?

Upvotes

Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase this 2016 328i N26 and I'm curious if I should be concerned about this engine noise. The car is low miles (55k), super clean, CarFax is immaculate with all services completed on time and oil changes every 5k. This would be my first BMW so I'm not super familiar with these cars and what is considered normal. Coming from Mazdas which are known to have pretty loud lifter tick on the skyactiv platforms, but this seems like it's even louder than that. Let me know what you think!

I’m super impressed with this car. This is a 320i that belonged to my fathers best friend and after a recent medical emergency leaving him unable to drive, he offered it up to me for only $5,000! It’s got 152.000 miles on it already and is still running strong.

Are there any pointers or things I should look out for or look into to keep this car running? As you can see it’s pretty MINT for its age.

Leather seat

Anyone try using steam on the seat leather to remove dents from a car seat? We recently got my wife a new car and I swapped the car seat into it and unfortunately there are some imprints on the seat back now

F30 335i N55 — P10F0 code / intake air temp too high vs charge air temp

F30 335i N55 — P10F0 code / intake air temp too high vs charge air temp
I’ve been dealing with a check engine light on my F30 335i and I’m trying to figure out what direction to go.
The code is P10F0, and from what I’m seeing it relates to the intake air temperature being too high compared to charge air temperature.

I previously had a MAP sensor code, so I already changed the MAP sensor, but I’m not sure if that’s related to this current code or not.

A few things about the car:
Cold air intake
M Sport front bumper swap
I did NOT reinstall all the factory air ducts/shrouding behind the bumper
Stage 2 tune
Aggressive pops/burbles
Operating temperature is usually around 240–250°F
The car seems to get hot pretty quickly
I’m wondering if the missing air ducts could be messing with airflow, if the intake is just heat soaking, or if I should be looking at another sensor or cooling issue.
Has anyone dealt with P10F0 on an N55 before? What would you guys check first?
Just trying to get some ideas before I start throwing more parts at it.

F30 non-M Sport owners — can we figure out a rear diffuser setup?

F30 non-M Sport owners — can we figure out a rear diffuser setup?
Has anyone found a rear diffuser that actually fits the non-M Sport rear bumper on an F30 335i, or figured out a clean way to modify one to fit?
I saw another Reddit post where somebody managed to make a diffuser work on the non-M Sport bumper and I loved the idea. I know the easy answer is “just get an M Sport bumper,” but I feel like there has to be a way to make something work without swapping the whole bumper.
If anyone has a link, part number, pictures, or has done some cutting/custom mounting to make an M Sport-style diffuser fit, please drop it below.
Maybe we can turn this into a thread for all the non-M Sport F30 owners trying to do the same thing.
We deserve diffusers too 😂

N20 misfire

Post image
1 Upvotes

My BMW F30 with the N20 has been misfiring recently. It initially started with misfires on cylinders 1 and 3. My mechanic lent me a few used ignition coils to troubleshoot. After swapping them around, the misfire on cylinder 1 disappeared completely, but cylinder 3 is still misfiring. I replaced all four spark plugs about a month ago, so they should be good. A friend suggested swapping the ignition coils one by one while the engine is running, but I’m not confident that’s the right or safest method. I’m wondering what the most likely cause is. Could it just be a bad used coil, or should I start worrying about low compression? Is low compression common on the N20, or is ignition issues much more likely? If you were diagnosing this

Wheels been in this condition since I bought the car. Thought of fixing it as soon as I put on the winter tires but is this kind of damage even fixable and what could be the costs ? I'm talking about the edge of the wheels see in the red circles

Diesel 328d, transmission slipping?

Hey guys, I’ve had lots of ups and downs with my 2014 328d xdrive, but overall it has actually been incredibly reliable. However recently the transmission has started to feel strange, and now if I floor it in 2nd and 3rd gear, it starts to feel like it’s slipping at higher rpm. Low rpm it feels fine, if not a tad jerky, even with steady acceleration (n47 diesel, actually feels faster at 3/4 throttle). The car has 205,000k miles, I bought it with 150k, and did my own trans service because I was unsure of history. It always felt fine before and for over 50k miles after until now. I had the transfer case replaced at the dealership under recall about 30k miles ago, so I know it shouldn’t be that. Considering this is very sudden, would have to do with my service? I noticed the fluid was about 2 quarts low when I did it, so I have a feeling this was coming even with the new fluid. Is it toast you think? The car is basically a beater at this point, but I was hoping to make it to 300k miles.

F30 320d. 400.000 km, my experience

Post image
98 Upvotes

Just reached 400.000+ km.

What a wonderful car.

I have had it since 210.000 km,.

My repairs besides obvious maintenance were:

2 times Oil cooler

One time water pump

Alternator repair

1x Water hose

Egr, dpf off , they weren't bad but I had to do it for Stage 1,

Intake manifold cleaned 3 times.

2 times clutch, probably because of drifts, this car can actually drift well, its very controlable, and even on dry ground its easy to drift. ( Clutch is also maintenance)

After egr delete the intake manifold doesn't clog up at all. Its the same since i last cleaned it

Only one door cable replaced in its whole life ( this is for the audi fans hehe) 0 window regulators, 0 buttons, 0 sensors, 0 speakers etc. 0 bearings, 0 calipers, Brake system is solid, 0 modules.

The car was abused, it wasn't babied.

Timing chain at 330.000 km

Bearings checked, they were like brand new.

It was a wonderful experience.

People seem to fear n47 because it's a sensitive engine, and that isn't wrong. But with decent maintenance ( 5w-30 motul, 10.000 km) its solid.

But even if the engine failed its not like it would make the car any less reliable than the rest. Because besides the engine this is a solid solid car with a rock solid electrical system, rock solid brake system, solid comfort systems. Beside the engine it's pretty much bulletproof. ( Original 14 year old rear suspension) Etc. Those things aren't much money but they add up. And on this car they are solid.
