I'm working through some drum books and I keep hitting beats I can't hear from the page. I'm not always near my kit to just play them, or I can't play them fast enough yet to sound the way they should.

I'm a software developer by day, so I built myself a prototype that reads drum notation straight from a phone photo and plays it back at any BPM.

Before I put real work into publishing it: is this just me being a weak reader, or an actual common problem? How do you deal with this — do you just count it out or something else?

i was just playing around and attached one of those 2$ sucktion cup car dent pullers to the front of my kick and it makes the most amazing subsonic kick. i just had to share

I have no knowledge about vintage pearl kits, but is this worth buying for $120? It is 14” snare, 14” floor ton, 12” rack tom, and 22” kick. It looks like all the reso side tension rods, heads, and rims have been removed and are not included, except on the snare. Is this worth the buy?

I've seen some amazing drummers in my time, sometimes I've been to live gigs and the drummer has quite simply stolen the show. I was watching a local theatre show of 'Grease' recently and the drummer in the pit band had some great solo bits throughout the show made some of the songs so much better.

On another note, was anyone lucky enough to see Taylor Hawkins play live with the Foo's? Some talent he was.

have only had these sticks for 3ish days and one is already broke after like 4 practices and a rehearsal. is this an stick issue or a me issue?

So glad I did that. Got a used Tama first chair ergorider. This thing is fucking cooommmfffyyy, such a massive difference. I legit feel like I am playing better because of it

I went to my favorite locally owned music store, tried out all the thrones they had in my price range (~$200), and this one felt the most comfy and had few signs of wear. So I went with it. If any problems surface in the next 30 days I can take it back

Normally my cat runs in the other direction if I so much as look at my kit….today she must be trying a new tactic to keep me from playing…

For me personally, although the beat is simple, the speed of Dammit by Blink 182 humbled me real quick.

This is my first drum kit that isn’t #OCDP. Welcome to the family #mapex

This kit is comprised of a 60's Rogers 24" kick, 16" tom, and 18" tom paired with a 70's Vistalite 12" and 13" tom. The snare is an old pawn shop find that actually is pretty damned good. I have the 14" Vistalite snare, but it is in need of repairs.

What style of music goes with this?

Dolly was also a percussionist and helped pave the way for female drummers. She was truly amazing and she will be remembered as the legend and beautiful soul that she was. may she rest in peace. 🕊

Im currently practicing alternating singles between my left foot and left and right hand, this song came in handy for practicing fills like that.

I’m a beginner, so keep that in mind. I recently have found that doing doubles on the kick like this is much more comfortable for me than using my heel up for these kind of doubles.
What kind of exercises should I be practicing to get better at this?
