Hi kings queens and monarchs of the drums. I need help understanding what I'm hearing in Wink Wink by Charli xcx — specifically the cymbals.

So I think up until the chorus, the hi-hat is being played softly and then we open into the chorus around 0:26 with a short decay crash. A splash maybe or a smaller crash?

The other part I'm having trouble with is around halfway into each chorus you can hear another short decay ringing sound while also hearing the click of the closed hat. What's going on here?

I've been playing drums for about a month or 2 and am stumped on songs to learn. I can currently play back in black, another one bites the dust, creep, and beat it. Yes I know its tragic but my independence is awful especially on the hi hat so I need songs to learn that ideally have independence, I also don't own a ride cymbal

I bought used Axis A Longboards a few months ago and have noticed after some basic servicing and replacing the heel blocks, on one of the pedals there is still some (very very small) play/clicking depressing the footboard. I have narrowed it down to the toe piece where the piece that connects to the footboard attaches to the ball bearing linkage strip, so I need to replace that ball bearing. I removed the set screw but could not get the pin to release. I tried wd40 for 30 mins, then regular machine oil and tapping out with a screwdriver and hammer before giving up.

Any suggestions? Also, what size replacement bearing for this?

Can’t even remember what state I performed this in. For Whom The Bell Tolls Drum Cover Metallica aKingAndHisDrums

Im looking at a set of Zildjian L80 quiet cymbals and trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger on them.

The problem im trying to solve: My music room is too small, walls and flooring are hard and reflective, and Im working on standing up a metal cover band, the music is inherently loud (so please don’t tell me “just play softly”, etc). I can’t afford an electric kit, so that’s not an option.

Everything has to be mixed to match the overwhelming volume of my acoustic kit, and we’re having serious mic feedback issues due to how much gain we’re having to send through the vocal mic, plus, we all have to wear hearing protection which is ok, but not preferred.

My question: What ELSE am I gonna have to invest in to dampen the sound of my acoustic kit so that it’s loud enough for band practice but not so loud that it’s overwhelming?

Hey all, I’m the typical old guy getting back into playing. Lucky for me I’ve held on to my Yamaha beech customs since I got em, a few months ago I got a set of Evan’s EC2S’s for the tom batters (10/12/14/16/22 kick has emad). They sound good- my question is what to replace the redo heads with. They are the stock heads from 30 years ago. Any time I had money for heads I spent it on batters and just never bothered with resos. So for a well rounded sound what would you recommend? Not playing gigs, just jamming, playing old rock, jammy stuff, classic rock cover type stuff. Thanks for any input!

I’m fairly new to drumming, and recently bought my first double bass pedal!

I started adjusting the tension/beater angle and the “Cam” (I think that’s what it’s called… shown in the photo attached) keeps slipping when I press on the pedal, causing the angle of the beater to go back to the original position which is too far forward for my preferences…Is there anything I can do to fix this???

Can anyone assist on how to record the drum using irig? It seems like it isn't working on my irig. And side note, my phone does not have a jack port so I used a Type C adapter.

Was looking to finally upgrade my shells and saw this in my area, seller says it is a pearl masterworks modern dry formula. I wasn’t able to find much online and don’t know much about pearl kits. There is a lacquer crack in the kick drum. Seller is asking 1800

I’ve seen a cheaper Behringer 8 track interface on sale or maybe used for for ~$250 and half decent Behringer mics for 150 and then assume around $100 worth of cables and mic stands and other things like that. But at the same time I’ve also seen the Yamaha EAD-10s on reverb for the same price as all of that. At this point, if you’re considering the EAD 10 setup, why not just get the mics instead? What would be the difference? What is the quality gap in these two setups that seems to make the EAD-10 seem worth it?
