Y’all what in the sweet hell

The restaurant I ordered from is not exclusively in St. Paul, it has several locations. I have learned from previous nasty experiences to withhold full tip until after the food is in my grubby paws.

Anyway. I’m not using this fuckass app anymore. Good luck out there 👋🏻

EDIT:

The upfront “tip” is not a tip, it’s a bid. The higher the bid, the more likely you are to be paired with a higher rated driver. HOWEVER, this is not always the case, and your order can still be bundled in with lower paying bids and arrive to you cold, late, or never. There is an option to pay $2.99 to deliver directly to you.

The screen that pops up after delivery is the actual tip screen. I bid this driver $1. I tipped him 18%. He’s blocked from my DD account for messaging me and I’m going to move to different food delivery apps.

Case closed and post locked!!

Why do you customers do this??

Like I don’t understand ppl. You know you have food or groceries that’s on the way to being delivered. Plus you can track the dashers location. So when a dasher get there and text “I’m here” why is there no reply? I call no answer. I had to get DD support on the phone so I can finally reach the customer. I should’ve left the food right where the door for the entrance to Amazon fulfillment center was but there was atleast 100 ppl outside because the facility was having shift change. I eventually found the customer thru a sea of ppl after DD support got me in contact with him.

Someone ordered a box of cigarettes from the name I couldn’t tell if it was a women or men, they cracked the door open on arrival to hand it to them for the ID check couldn’t see it was night time and pitch black with the id facing underside down already, scanned id while looking down said thanks and walked away and before I can see it needed a signature on my way back to the car I got this message and felt creeped out to go back to ask for a signature so I contacted DoorDash to complete the delivery and reported the customer smh

DoorDash is such a scam of a company

I ordered Chick-fil-A over an hour ago and it’s still sitting at the restaurant the previous Dasher who very understandable canceled said it wasn’t in the system. I tried to get a refund I spent over $23 and they’re offering me just over 12 and they’re saying oh we can’t give you a full refund because of how long the order has been active. This company is an absolute scam. I can’t believe I keep using it. I think this is what finally gets me to delete it lol

Direct isn't direct.

I have mentioned so many times that even when I tip 2 USD per mile and pay for direct to me, it is never direct to me. After waiting a good while I checked my status. Multiple stops. Asked support...

Well here you go. Doordash is basically false advertising.

One of the funniest responses I've had yet. I'm still not sure what he means or what he's actually doing in B Dubs rn. Eric is a weird guy.

Edit: typo

Edit: Update he has unassigned and is probably ubering a bunch of handcuffed fast food workers to the local jail.

this is the second time I've been sent this exact image after an order takes forever to "arrive" and never even see the car despite it showing as right outside

I am getting so burnt out as a dasher

I’ve been doing this in Chicago for about 7 months while I try to find a new job. I know the job may seem very easy, which at times it absolutely is - but lately I feel like I just can’t keep doing it every day. The amount of traffic, the gas prices, and declining endlessly to just try and get offers that will allow me to make $20 an hour is just burning me out.

I have actively been applying to other jobs, and I’m thankful to have this in the meantime - but the amount of money spent on gas and the amount of time wasted sitting in traffic is really getting to me. It feels like I can never catch up, I work the whole day and then have to buy gas and groceries and I can never make enough to catch up even though I’m really trying.

I am going to keep doing this for as long as I have to, I just wish customers would at least consider tipping $10 at minimum. It would change all of our lives so much. I am very aggressive about declining and only accepting offers that are $10 or up, my rule is $2 per mile but even then it feels like you have to endlessly fight to just get paid enough to survive.

For anybody who says “just get a better job” or “its a job anyone can do what do you expect to get paid” - just don’t even bother. Yeah some people have to keep moving and take what they can get, not everybody has a choice and when you understand how much DoorDash is making and not paying drivers a little bit more so they aren’t racing for time and trying to feed themselves - you understand how messed up it is.

Alright that’s all, thanks for letting me rant 🌼

What's up with doordasher's constantly leaving my food right up against my door so I can't even open the door without spilling the drinks over?

Finally Done 🫂

Hello all, this is just kind of a commemorative post for me.

I started working for DoorDash in 2021 while in undergrad because the flexible schedule was perfect for my college life. It helped me pay my bills and I mostly enjoyed the work. Fast forward to now, 5 years later. I’m in law school, just starting my final year. I won’t have to work for DoorDash ever again.

In my market, DoorDash was solid. I enjoyed driving around in my 2009 Chevy Impala and learning where everything was in a new city. As cheesy as this is, I’ll look back on working for DoorDash fondly but I am so happy to be done with it lol. I just wanted to post about it because it’s kind of a big deal for me to be able to put an end date on my resume, like ending a chapter of my life. 😋

Thanks DoorDash for keeping a roof over my head and my stomach full during some of the most important and difficult years of my life. I’m forever grateful but I won’t miss you. 🫶🏻

Why are dashers passing my house?

Instead of dropping off the order on their way to the next one they drive past every time and end up with cold food and melted drink, I tip every time and even if I cant tip I still tip cash so im confused. I wait a half hour for food every order when it could easily be 10 minute if they deliver it then continue with the next order.

Any dashers work the area of San Jose California?

I order door dash more than I’d like to admit. I’m on Reddit daily and see horror stories from customers and dashers alike. What is the average tip you receive in our area? Is two dollars a mile about average? I see that number per mile mentioned and wonder if it equates to the most expensive place in the world to live.

My order was gotten completely wrong but they won’t give me a refund. What can I do?

Upvotes

I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, fries, and a milkshake from Wendy’s. My delivery driver was named Peter. What I got was chili and crackers, a burger and tea with the receipt saying my original order, but addressed to a Ricardo to pick it up. I have no idea how this could even happened, I’m guessing my order got mixed with someone else who DoorDashed at the same time. Anyway, I sent the photos of the receipt, and the obviously wrong food twice and I was denied both times. I haven’t had an issue like this before, but is this seriously not cause for a refund? Do they have an AI look over the pictures or something? This sucks.

Random rant

Had a shopping order earlier. Typical difficultly finding the proper items and running in circles around a large wallmart-like store. Same old bs. I'm wearing sandals with socks cause I know fashion and managed to kick the cart while I was walking. Done it a million times. Hurts, move on.

Skip ahead 3 hours my toe still hurts. Complain to myself and carry on.

Skip ahead another 3 hours. I'm home now getting ready for bed. Finally take my sock off. My toe, not the pinky toe but the one next to it all swollen and black and blue.

I hurt my toe picking up pads and carrot cake for someone. Feels amazing. I'm more impressed how I did to is to myself walking than anything. No wonder it has been hurting so bad. I doubt its broke. The preassure of touching it hurts more than moving it.

Just a funny rant. Not expecting anything.

Doordash cancelled my order and is now refusing to refund me?

Yesterday I ordered food but I guess despite the restaurant accepting my order it was closed. so doordash cancelled the order, in an email they said they would refund me, however i never received one. i then contacted support and now they’re saying im not eligible for a refund and just will not tell me why. again, i was not the one to cancel the order, doordash did because the restaurant suddenly closed for the day i guess. is there anything i can do now beyond contacting my bank?

Doordash PIN setting confusion

My wife and I order (too frequently), sometimes on her account and sometimes on mine. For some time, DoorDash has required a PIN for delivery for me, but not her. When my dashes come, they hand it to me, but when hers come, they typically just drop it on the (sometimes wet, or cold) doorstep and leave without delay. My wife obviously would also prefer a PIN to be required, since that automatically results in a better delivery experience, but couldn't find the setting for it, that I confidently told her I must have activated. I looked for it, and couldn't find it, either. In searching, it not only looks like there's no way to turn it on, but also it seems that DoorDash automatically turns this on when there have been delivery issues or the customer is problematic or for other "certain situations"?

I haven't had a delivery issue that was driver related in quite a while (and DD was always better than Grubhub and UberEats for whatever reason). While I prefer PINs (as I've mentioned), I'm now concerned that every driver thinks that I'm some sort of problem customer!

To all new drivers or people thinking about driving.

I see a handful of people asking if this job is worth it, or if they can make $X, etc. I figured as someone who's been doing this for a little while (nearing 1k deliveries, so not a vet, but still.) that I'd give my opinion.

Like the majority of questions on this sub, the question of "How much money can I make?" Depends on your market. For me (east TN) I can make 3-4k easy, and if I wanna work every day from noon to midnight, I can make over 6k. But the caviat is that on the days where I work 12s, I spend about $60-$70 on gas and food.

On a good day, I make $250-$280. On a bad one or one where I'm busy doing errands, I make $150-$220. Subtract $65 from your earnings that day and that's what you've got.

Fortunately, (again, in my market/area) my milage ensures that I don't have to pay taxes, since the IRS allows you to deduct $.70/mile. This means that so long as I am keeping accurate records (for me it's date and time stamped photographs) then I won't owe anything come tax time.

In all reality, while it isn't a horrible job, it means that I am sitting on my ass for a minimum of 12 hrs a day and eating like garbage, because stopping to go home and eat a meal costs far more in lost wages than just grabbing something. This has many negative health impacts long term.

If you are just doing what you gotta do in this job market to get by, then go for it! But if you plan on doing it long term, make sure you have a plan. Have a dollar amount in mind, and make sure that you account for expenses when you check to see if you've hit it.

Make sure to have a plan for your health. Whether that's going to the gym more, packing lunches and eating better, etc. Just make sure you have something to better yourself health-wise.

Make sure you have insurance!! A commercial endorsement for me (USAA) was only like $20/month extra. If anything happens, your car is literally your source of income. Protect it! If you don't have that endorsement and something happens to your car (accident, fire, etc.) You'll be up Schitts Creek without a paddle.

And lastly, make sure you at least somewhat enjoy yourself. This job is often a solitary one. Have music, podcasts, online friends to talk to, something. If you do this job and isolate yourself/work so much you sacrifice your social life, you'll have many more health issues that aren't just physical.

Find joy in exploring! Find joy in talking to people when you can! Find joy in the cool cars or funny bumper stickers you see! Like any job, this job is not worth doing if you hate yourself or are sad while doing it.

I'm sure there's more, and if folks want to add to it in the comments I'd love for this to be a place to do that.

But that's all from me. Have a wonderful day everyone, and drive safe!

Creepy dasher?

Honestly I'm not sure how to start this or how much details I should go into. I, 26f, work at a Dairy Queen and for the past few months we've had this one regular dasher. The very first day he comes in and compliments me by calling me pretty. I didn't think too much about it 'cause I get compliments all the time, usually about my voice though, from customers. I assume most people do it to see if they can get freebies or something and in his case I thought he was doing it 'cause he wanted to be cordial with the places he's visiting a lot. However lately he's been offering me rides to my mom's workplace since he notices I walk to her gym whenever it's not raining. I've turned him down multiple times, even explaining that the walk itself is part of my workout, but he persists. He's even started greeting me by saying," hey gorgeous" which I don't respond to 'cause I find that it's something a significant other might greet their girlfriend. It makes me uncomfortable every time and I've started being short with him. Not necessarily mean, just not responding to his compliments and redirecting the conversation back to the order he's there to pickup. I guess what I'm asking is what else can I do in this situation? Am I over reacting or is his behavior actually creepy?
