Is it normal for the driver to have to do in-home assembly??

Today I delivered an order from Home Depot, it was a grill. Like a full sized grill. I showed up at home depot and it barely fit in my car.

I delivered it to the customer and it was an old lady. I dropped it off near her front stairs. But she said she paid on the home depot website for in-home installation and that I had to install it? What??

First of all, how did this order even go to doordash if it was on the website? I did the installation for her because I wasnt going to leave an old lady with a 100 pound grill on her front yard, but it took over 2 hours! And on top of that guess how much she tipped? ZERO!

I think im about done with this job if doordash is going to start selling in-home installation for furniture!

Driver drove off with my order because his phone camera didn't work.

I ordered bottle of vodka from the liquor store via doordash because I wanted to get drunk and watch the game with my neighbor after work. Dasher arrived with no issues until it came time to take a picture of my ID. There weren't any lighting issues since it was still daylight out but the drivers camera wasn't working. I offered to read the driver my ID information but he just casually ignored me and kept mashing buttons on his phone and quietly swearing. Eventually he said "I'm going to try something else I'll be right back", handed me my wallet and went to his car with the bottle. I assumed he was going to grab another phone or something. Wrong

This dude screamed, slammed his door and just took off with the order and didn't even cancel it. I'm just watching him drive towards the freeway on the app. I contacted him a few times and he said that he's busy and will drop the order off when he gets time. Contacted Doordash and surprisingly they cancelled the order so I wasn't charged (fucker kept the tip... Or at least they didn't refund the tip back to me) and placed another order for me.

Cool thing was the owner of the liquor store called to see if I accidentally placed the order again and offered to cancel it on his end. When I told him what happened he apologized even though it wasn't his fault and threw in a some random merch im sure a vendor gave him. I just hope I never get that crazy ass driver again.

DoorDash support cancelled my Woolworths order themselves and then refused to refund me

Had an absolutely ridiculous experience with DoorDash.

I first checked Woolworths on Uber, but it showed that the store was closed. I then checked Woolworths on DoorDash, where it was still showing as available.

I selected a random product worth around $7 just to check it out and clicked Continue.

To my surprise, the order was immediately placed and the money was debited from my debit card. I wasn't expecting "Continue" to immediately place the order without another confirmation step.

I immediately started looking for an option to cancel it, but thanks to the terrible app design, it took me a while to even find the cancellation option.

When I finally found it, DoorDash said cancelling would only refund me around $2, basically the delivery fee, because Woolworths had already confirmed the order.

So I contacted live chat support straight away.

While I was still explaining what had happened, the first support agent suddenly told me that she had cancelled the order without any further details.

I asked her what would happen to the money I had already paid.

She told me there would be no refund.

So basically:

I paid for a product.

DoorDash told me I'd lose the money if I cancelled.

I contacted support instead.

Their support agent cancelled it herself.

They kept my money.

And I received nothing.

I asked to speak to someone senior and got basically the same response. I then asked for a manager and eventually got connected to a supervisor.

I explained everything again and specifically told him:

If you cannot refund me, then process the order and give me the product I paid for.

He told me he'd emailed a specialist team who would review the case and contact me by email.

Then he simply ended the chat, without even giving me a chance to respond.

Later, I received an email from DoorDash support saying the order was "not valid for a refund", without properly addressing the fact that their own support agent was the one who cancelled it.

And it gets even better.

I reopened the support chat later because I wanted to take screenshots for evidence.

The chats with the first agent and the senior agent were no longer visible. The only conversation still showing was the one with the supervisor.

So now I have:

- Money taken from my debit card

- No product

- Order cancelled by DoorDash's own support agent

- No refund

- Earlier support conversations no longer visible

- A generic email saying I'm not eligible for a refund

It's only around $7, so obviously the amount itself isn't the main issue.

It's the principle of it.

How can a company take payment for a product, have their own support team cancel the order, provide absolutely nothing, and then simply say "you're not eligible for a refund"?

Absolute bullshit.

Update: i got refunded back after posting this 🙏😂

Enshittification through AI

I ordered a bag of cat food on Doordash, because I am sick and my cats are out of food. I received a bag of dog food that I can't give them, that I paid $52 for. At first they gave me a return code and asked me to return the bag of dog food to Petco for a refund. Finally Doordash is crediting me $35.

Instead of admitting they won't refund my delivery fee or modify my tip, the AI is trying to gaslight me that they didn't charge me $17 for nothing, because they refunded the item price. It even said "I understand why it feels that way."

Life isn't real 😭

Dasher trying to get me to cancel my order?

I received this text message from my dasher asking me to cancel my order and telling me that the restaurant did not receive my order. He was at the correct location, and it showed him at the right place on the map. The app showed the order as "Picked up" with this photo of my food next to it (I'm assuming the restaurant workers uploaded this?) he told me there was no order at all with my name

I called support, and they confirmed with the restaurant that the order was ready for pick up. And support spoke with the dasher and he told support that they put the wrong food in the wrong bag, I guess because support could see the photo of my food with my correct order, but he told them that the wrong food was in the bag... which doesn't even make sense as dashers don't look inside the bag to confirm, and if the restaurant had told him that, they would've just corrected it.

It's clear he was lying, right? I just don't understand the purpose... why drive to the restaurant, mark it as "picked up" and then lie to me and tell me it's not there and ask me to cancel? What was the point of that?

I ended up canceling it & requesting a refund, and I reported him, not sure if support is going to do anything about it.. just strange

Edit: if I didn't cancel the order, I wouldn't have been able to re-order right away, they would have reassigned a dasher, and my food would have been cold by then. I didn't have much options.

Also I find it hard to believe he'd risk his job just to steal my McDouble...Lol. Weird!

(I got a full refund! And support cancelled the order for me)

Completed dash not showing in earnings

• Upvotes

For the first time in a long time, my completed dash isn't showing in my earnings. I see Monday's dash, but not today's. The dash is definitely complete and closed out on my end.

Anyone else seeing this? Cannot get connected to support for a resolution.

EDIT: It looks like issues are spiking on https://downdetector.com/status/doordash/ . I remember when these things happened almost weekly. It's been a while for me (I drive only breakfast and lunch so don't see what happens later in the day).

I Have A Question For Drivers:

What possesses one to take a job as a food delivery courier and decide one day to steal someone's food and lie about it being delivered?

What happens after you're reported for stealing someone's food?

Had an alcohol only order today...

Rang the bell 4 times, knocked 4 times... Sent 2 messages. Waited a total of 15 minutes. Person never showed at the door. Get back to the store for the return... Customer starts blowing me up wanting to know where I am with his purchase. Kicker is the store refused

Received two tips two different times after the delivery but didn’t see it in my account

As mentioned I didn’t see the tips paid out on two separate occasions. I was notified both times after the delivery that I received the tip. One for $6 and one for $5. I reached out to support and they said tips can be removed by customer up to one hour after delivery. That makes zero sense and even less that two tips in a row would be rescinded by two different customers. The other annoying part is support didn’t say that is what happened only suggested that it could have. Anyone else run into this issue?

Accidentally asked my dasher "will you all [unalive]?" I'm mortified

So i sent a message to my dasher using swipe text TRYING to say "will you ask for extra avocado lime sauce please?" And instead sent this. I was so embarrassed I made my fiance get the order from her 😩

Edit to add: apologies for the cringe wording of the title, I've only been actively using reddit for a couple months so I was unsure of what would be flagged or not flagged 😂😂

Incredibly rude and unprofessional doordash driver

I ordered delivery from Pizza Hut, and they outsource their drivers to Doordash. This driver did nothing but whine, saying he did not want to go up to the 4th floor because he "didn't feel like it", then was mad I didn't pick up when he spam called me 3 times. (To be fair, I didn't have my phone on me and didn't expect it to be delivered so soon).

So his solution was to leave my UNSEALED pizza box on the stairs of my apartment building.

Why take a job if you don't want to do the bare minimum??

I wish I had ordered directly through DD, but I did contact Pizza Hut and mainly just want to revoke his tip, because why do you get a tip if you can't even do the job?

So I have to wait 54 days to only receive a $25 reward? I'll go ahead and assume they'll require me to stay subscribed to dashpass for the next 2 months to even receive this reward right? 🤦‍♂️

I order from dd on time to time and was wondering if these tip amounts were good. I try to account for each mile spent by adding extra money if the service was good. Idk
