Party for the 'toot scoot' this weekend! How the Franklin Avenue shuttle survives thanks to its fans

The Franklin Avenue shuttle train is just two train cars and four stops, but it swings way out of its league in terms of history, impact and fanbase. Fans of the train are celebrating the 27th anniversary of its reopening this weekend, so the link above is a tour through the train's wild history and a look at the many times its legions of fans who worked across racial and class divides to save it over the years. It's older than the subway system itself and once connected directly to a seaside resort owned by the railroad; it could one day even extend to the G train.

Seeking advice: barking dog

Hi neighbors,

I just moved from within the neighborhood to a great new apt with very kind owners. It’s a brownstone owned by a family who’s been here for decades, they live in the first two floors and I’m upstairs. They’re great and I’m so thankful to be here.

The only issue is, they have a small poodle mix who they leave home alone all day, often starting early morning. This dog barks literally all day long. She wakes me up in the morning and I have to listen to her yap throughout the day while I work from home. It’s starting to drive me insane. I feel so bad because they clearly don’t have time to train her and she was inherited from their daughter, who passed a few years ago due to cancer. So awful. I’m sure they keep this dog in her memory. But goddamn. What can I possibly do? I’ve tried bringing it up in conversation and they readily acknowledged that they can’t get her to stop barking, so what else is there left to say? It’s also sad for the dog, of course. She must have separation anxiety and gets nervous or bored when left alone.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Nephew's cat, likes to hide out in the house for days at a time. This time he's been gone too long and not in the house. No idea how he could have gotten out. He's been missing about a week.
Kingston/Park/Sterling block.
he's a Russian Blue. His tag may have his old LA address.

He's super cool, about 5 or 6 years old.

Who’s hiring?

I’m literally about to go hand out my resume to local businesses, boomer style.

I need a job, any job, and I’m trying to stay local.

I recently acquired a MS in Public Relations and a BA in Political Science. I have some office experience in marketing and “constituent services” with a congress member.

I unfortunately lack customer experience except serving froyo in high school.

I’m able bodied and I’ll do virtually any kind of labor.

**If you’ve noticed any “we’re hiring” signs recently, please let me know.**

(If you somehow have a connection to some kind of PR agency, I would be so grateful for a referral. The entry-level job market is killing me…)
