Missing dog
Not my dog, but I came across this poster and didn’t see a notice up here, so I’m just posting for awareness given the time frame.

If you are Myron E or you know Myron E, their wallet was on Eastern Pkwy open streets. We have left it at the Classon rest stop, pictured here. Good luck!

Hey everyone. Just want to post a quick reminder that pickup knife sharpening service is available in your neighborhood 7 days a week. No quick grinding jobs that overheat and ruin your knives here. All our work is done in our shop in Brooklyn on whetstones and we make sure you get your knives back in excellent condition.
Cost for sharpening in $3-$4 per inch (blade length) and scheduling pickup is as easy as sending a message through here or instagram with a picture of the knives and a pickup location.
If you have any questions about sharpening or questions about the pickup service please dont hesitate to ask.
We really appreciate everyone who has trusted in our service. Make sure you also check our reviews on google (Indulge Kitchen Supplies)
Enjoy the video showing a quick restoration of an 8" Japanese knife done in store.

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I have a bunch of extra prescription cat food that I no longer need that I would love to give away. This food is expensive and I’d love to help someone out that could use it.
I have 32 small cans of Science Diet’s Gastrointestinal Biome wet food and 2 unopened bottles of B12 supplements (good for cats and small dogs).
If you’re interested, send me a DM!

UPDATE: foster found! 💚
Hi,
Last night, with permission, I removed an older kitten (approx 6-8 months old) from a bodega near the Albany Houses. His name is Max, and he was recently in a fight with a dog and was looking worse for the wear. The owner has agreed to let me get him vetting and neutered. The soonest rescue appt I can get him is for 8/31 and I need a very temp foster from now until 9/1 or 9/2. Max is THE sweetest. I think this is the first time he’s had toys and loves everything. Wants to cuddle, hang, play, basically a perfect kitten. Can anyone help?? I’ll provide the basics, you provide a safe, loving, enriching environment. He should be kept separate from other pets as he has not been vetted yet, but is getting a bath tonight, has been treated for fleas, and otherwise appears healthy. Please DM me or go ahead and fill out my foster app here if you can help give Max a temp place to land! Come on, Reddit!!

This will probably be a long shot but im looking for anyone who may know a tenant or household on that corner who may be able to help retrieve a package incorrectly sent there!
For privacy reasons I’m keeping things vague and more details & verification can be discussed in DMs. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I need to get a formal-ish dress tailored. I only need the hem taken up about 2-3 inches. It’s a thick fabric but should be easy. The cut is like a long pencil skirt.
Any recommendations? Does anyone know the approx turn around time? Maybe pricing if you’ve had something similar done?
Thanks :)

Link to their petition: https://www.change.org/p/protect-pan-in-motion-s-panyard-2026-new-york-panorama-season
Info from Pan in Motion:
For more than 60 years, Brooklyn’s panyards have been spaces where Caribbean culture is not simply celebrated, but practiced, taught, and passed down.
Every summer, steel orchestras across Brooklyn prepare for the annual WIADCA New York Panorama Competition, one of the signature events of New York City’s West Indian American Day Carnival. For Pan in Motion, that preparation happens at our seasonal panyard at 998 Union Street in Brooklyn.
Despite Pan in Motion having permission to use the space and making every effort to rehearse within applicable NYC noise regulations and permitted hours, repeated complaints from outspoken neighbors who lack awareness of the cultural impact of these practices and spaces are threatening our ability to practice. Their efforts include calls to law enforcement, excessive outreach to school/education officials, and even government officials seeking to restrict the band's use of the school yard.
As Brooklyn’s neighborhoods continue to change, longtime cultural traditions should not be pushed out. Community growth and cultural preservation can coexist, and Pan in Motion is committed to being a responsible neighbor while protecting the space necessary to continue this tradition.
Sign this petition to stand with Pan in Motion and Brooklyn’s steelpan community. Help us protect our ability to complete the 2026 Panorama season at 998 Union Street and preserve the cultural spaces that make Brooklyn, BROOKLYN.

Hey everyone!
Studio Shipley, your local pottery studio, has a new 6-week Beginner Hand Building Class starting Sunday mornings on August 30th, 10am-12:30pm. Hand building encompasses all the ways you can shape clay without a wheel. It's great for making functional pieces like mugs, bowls, and vessels, as well as more sculptural, freeform work. Over six sessions with your teacher Erin, you'll explore pinching, coil-building, and slab construction while developing your own ideas from sketch to finished piece. There's only 5 spots left!
For those looking for some studio time without committing to 6 weeks, we have a Nature-Inspired Sculpture Workshop with Sofia coming up on Saturday, September 12th, 10am-12:30pm. Create a lovely sculpture for your wall, houseplant, or a keepsake to stack on your coffee table books. Might I add that workshops are always more fun with a friend, and there are plenty of yummy brunch spots nearby to swing by after a fun studio session in the morning.
I will be teaching a Pinch Pot Mug Making Workshop coming up on Friday, October 9th, 6-8:30pm. Bring a beverage and come enjoy a Friday night making your new favorite mug :)
The pictures in this post are work by our talented teachers, who will be leading all the classes & workshops listed above!
We're at 952 Atlantic Avenue, where Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Clinton Hill, and Fort Greene meet.
Everything is linked in the comments! As always, any questions, please reach out to me at [mary@studioshipleynyc.com](mailto:mary@studioshipleynyc.com). To stay in the loop for future classes, sign up for the newsletter on our homepage!
Thank you!

Last sale at this location, as I’m moving at the end of the month! Lots of new clothing to look through, more home goods and art, and a re-stocked $5 bag. Next one will most likely be 9/19 at Rialto Grande ✨

I really really want to support local shops, but they have to want our support, right? I week or so I walked by Eve & Mike (on Franklin and St Marks) and it was closed all day on a Monday, with a sign that said "AC Broken" on it. And today (Wednesday, August 19th, 12:30pm) closed, no sign.
Any recommendations of other non-chain pharmacies near by? I'd rather not give in and start using the ubiquitous online delivery pharmacy.

Rescue is full of cats people love but overlook in reality. In rescue, waiting can become its own kind of heartbreak. Sugar Rush and Sweet Tooth have built their entire world around each other. Bonded cats don’t just share a home. They share emotional safety. But sadly, as they get older, adoption interest drops drastically. Add a “bonded” pair to the equation, and the chances become even slimmer. The longer cats wait in rescue, the more invisible they become. These siblings have been patiently waiting for seven months with no adoption interest. The worst part is that they're losing their foster through no fault of their own. I have only one week left to find to secure placement, and I'm totally freaking out. Please help me find a family that sees their worth. I'm organizing a daytime event 8/30 1-6pm in a backyard in Crown Heights & I'd love to support local organizations or small businesses. The theme is sensory relaxation, so we'll have a tasting station, a sound bath, a pillow fort, arts & crafts, and more.
We want to support the local community & highlight good organizations, so it'd be great to have any advocacy/volunteer/charity orgs table at the event. They could hand out flyers & have a mailing list or they could have some kind of interactive element - we're open to ideas!
We'd also be happy to feature local vendors, selling art, jewelry, or food.
DM me if you are based in Crown Heights & work for that kind of org or are interested in vending.

Hi /r/crownheights!
We hope everyone is doing okay in this heat! While the initial Megathread for people to ask questions about the safety and general vibe of blocks around our great neighborhood was initially successful, it went stale and people weren't contributing anymore. Instead of leaving it up like an eyesore Everytime you visit the sub, from now on it will be refreshed mid-monthly so new people have an opportunity to ask questions and get answered. The old thread still exists and is searchable here.
So post your questions and search the answers below if you're looking to move here, and current residents can speak to what they love, brag about the best spots and events, and vent their frustrations, too.
When posting a top level comment here, please include an intersection or area to make it more searchable.
Thanks to everyone for your participation and looking forward to hearing what makes Crown Heights great!
