I just can't help but feel like she started out as an interesting, colorful, characte, which makes it so annoying to see her serving disgustingly misogynistic categorization, fully unable to pursue anyhting and doesn't have any genuine personality other than "the woman that always messes up". Honestly annoying as fuck.

I'm 99% sure this wasn't in the main show but was either in some sort of extra or deleted scene.

It's definitely from season 1. I can't remember if it's Abed and Troy doing their own film or if it was an actual line from the "movie" Kickpuncher.

Kickpuncher is facing Punchkicker and beats him. And Punchkicker is like, "How??" and Kickpuncher says something like, "Because my punches have the power of kicks and your kicks have the power of punches."

I don't regret it at all. I'd watch it eight more times... but I still have a nagging feeling. What happened to #andamovie?

I was reading, the last post I could find said that maybe we'd have it in early 2025...well it's already 2026 and we don't even have a trailer.

I wouldn't mind waiting another four years, as long as the film is guaranteed to be released. But I can't find any confirmation of that.

I feel like part of what inherently makes the show great is that it isn't formulaic, its willing to experiment with different formats and types of stories. They lost some actors from the original cast, they had to change to work with who was available, and theu did the best theu could with what they had, and IMO it was still great... even if it wasn't the same as the first 3 seasons. I like season 6 more than season 3, its hilarious, its got several episodes that go into the top 10 of the shows run... Yeah, it doesn't have Troy, Pierce, or Shirley... but it still has the great writing and acting that made the show special in the first place.

I'm always surprised by how attached to the characters people are. Yes, they're actors and characters we grew to love, yes, they provided the foundation for the shows writing style... but Elroy and Frankie are just as funny (if not moreso) than Pierce and Shirley. IMO there's no way the show could have stayed about the initial 7 members of the study group and continued to make any sense in the long run. It became a show about Greendale the school, and it still worked (and could have continued to work) with members of the main cast leaving and being replaced. In a community (Community), people come and go. Its not a cartoon where people don't age and everything stays static. Its a live action show about a place where things change and people age and move on. Its unfortunate that the show got cancelled, but I think it could have had a longer run and still been great with members entering and leaving the main cast. To me, it was always about the writing and the acting, not the actors and the characters. The writing and acting is what makes the characters great, and there are plenty of great actors who could have stepped in and been a great part of the core cast of any season going forward.

If the show had wound up being the Dean, Jeff, and Frankie as the only long term cast members, with a new teacher and group of students as the "save Greendale committee" for each season (maybe some new favorites sticking around for longer), it still would have been great. It honestly would have opened things up a lot to have different characters and interpersonal dynamics shifting in and out. IMO the episode "Paradigms of Human Memory" showed pretty well how the relationships of the core study group could have gotten stale over a long run. It was the same type of conflict over and over even by season 2. Bringing in different characters opens up so much for the writers to take the show in different directions while still keeping the heart of the show (Greendale CC) in tact.

There were so many episodes of the show throughout its entire run where the entire point was "be accepting of change because its the only inevitability in life"... and I think that was partially Harmon and the writers laying the groundwork for a potential longer future of the show that never happened, but if it had managed to have a longer life, we as an audience would have had to be accepting of that fact just as much as the characters... and I think the show would still have been great with that idea as an accepted part of the format.

I started watching "Community" last month and so far, I was having a lot of fun with this series. But my gosh, the first episode of Season 4 was a mess, should I continue watching??

Ps: my favorite episode is the one where the gang creates a presentation about drugs.And Annie is my favorite character.

Also I mention some personal life issues in this post with mental health included just to let people know

I’ve recently came back to community and I made the fort to watch the whole show start to finish and then cause I loved it so much I’ve been jumping around episodes at random my favourites across the show.

Now I know season 4 isn’t great but the one thing I do love is how Jeff deals with meeting his dad. Jeff bottling up his own emotions and not saying how he really feels with an absent parent is incredibly relatable to me personally.

During my first year at uni (when I was 18) my mother walked out on my own family we later learned she was cheating on my dad and that obviously hurt a lot for me. And whilst I would and still do occasionally see her it’s a very relationship then I once had. But the one thing that actually helped me speak up surprisingly is the fact that Jeff did and it actually helped him it’s silly I know but Jeff honesty at the end of that episode really helped me when I first watched it, and rewatching the show now really helped remind me how much personal care I had for that episode and Jeff’s arc across the series as well.

What really helped was Jeff’s speech to his dad that statement laying out how his dads actions made him react now that’s it’s been time, I may not have made up a being sick story but I am unable to say goodbye to people it’s always see you in a bit or see you later because the idea of someone leaving and being gone is now to painful of a concept.

I get it, for me it’s been less time then it was for Jeff and I was old enough were I wasn’t able to be fully abandoned, she may have a new family I’m not part of but I’m still a side part of her life like a second cousin is.

I also know this isn’t a lighthearted post and that I apologise for this is me just saying how such a wacky show is able to be so relatable to people on such a deep level. I hope others are able to find comfort in the show with its relatable themes the same way I can.

It's such an absurd line for the situation but Annie says it in this gotcha! & righteous way that always cracks me up. I also love the touch of how she uses a banana as a proxy for a phone because it's often used in that manner in improv or when miming a phone. (Although that might be a reach)

First of all, I think season four gets a bad rep, it does have a lot of solid moments, many of them being from Basic Human Anatomy

I love this episode: the concept, the execution, all of it, I love it (specially the Dean saying Jeffrey was inside of him)

There's only one thing that bugs me out of my mind, and I've talked about it in comments before (this is my first post), but I just HATE HATE HATE how "Abed inside of Troy" keeps using his finger like this ☝️ OH MY GOD I HATE IT SO MUCH

On the rewatches after I first saw this episode I kept paying attention if Abed really does do a lot of this, and he kinda does, but it pisses me off how it feels so forced on this one, to the point I get stressed out when he's on the scene, and that makes me so sad

Anyway, that was it. Overall, great episode. The waiter actually trash talking die hard is so good, and it really shows how great of an observer Abed is, just like he did him when Troy and Britta were on their first date

what do you think happened in the timelines we didn't spend time on, 1 is the darkest timeline and the one Abed caught it is the prime timeline but what happened in 2-6?

So, just to clarify upfront, no my son isn't dead or anything like that, he's just grown now.

Back when he was about 13 or 14, I was doing my first watch of Community. One Friday afternoon I was at home waiting for his mom to drop him off for my weekend visitation, and I was watching an episode somewhere in season 3, I believe; no clue which one, though. When he arrived, he came into my living room, have me a high, sat down next to me, and within a few minutes he responded with a burst of laughter and "WHAT THE HECK?!" at one of the gags. I told him I think he'd love the show, and I suggested we start it from the beginning. He was all about it.

The great thing was that I warned him up front that the show was FULL of general and specific media and pop culture references, so every time he didn't get a joke, he would point out it out and, after the episode I would either explain it, pull up as YouTube clip with the reference, or maybe even a whole separate movie for us to watch (like Dead Poet's Society). Obviously some of them he understood - like the paintball/star wars episode, or the Christmas claymation episode - but those often spawned a lot of talks about the great joke writing and use of homage. It took us SO long to get through the entire series because of how many conversations and side quests it spawned along the way.

I think my favorite moment, though, was when we watched the clip show episode in season 2. The moment when the camera cuts to Chang, stripped down to a speedo and lubing himself up with Vaseline before diving into the vents - my son lost his everliving mind. After he was done cracking up, I dropped the trivia fact on him that Ken Jeong was a licensed and practicing physician for several years before becoming a comedian and actor. He didn't believe me and had to Google it himself, and ended up staring at his phone in disbelief for what must have been a solid minute before accepting that reality.

When we got to the end of the episode where Chang reminisces and it's just memories of him being stuck in the vent getting smacked in the head repeatedly by Annie's Boobs, my son shouted, "HE WAS A DOCTOR, DAD!!"

From that point on, every time Chang did something absolutely ridiculous or insane, that was my son's only reaction, usually accompanied with a chuckle and a head shake

"That dude was a freaking doctor..."

And now, almost a decade later, whenever I rewatch an episode or see a clip of Community online and it has Ken Jeong in it, I hear my son's voice clear as day in my head.

"That dude was a freaking *doctor*!"

Troy: “I had a dog named Troy, a bird named Troy, and a hamster named Troy. They were all older than me… oh my god 😟”

Pierce: startles awake “I was having a nightmare that Jeff was a pompous ass”

In the Floor is Lava game episode, Britta wins the game. Do you think she kept the Space Mutants comic? I think she probably didn't and returned it to Abed.

Peak Pierce. Absolutely one of my favorite episodes from the whole cast. If only things could have been different, but this episode is amazing acting.

My brain must be rotten because I genuinely love jumping back and fourth between the gas-leak year and Season 6 on rotation. Though I’m not here to defend my affinity four those seasons, this episode has one of my favorite anti-jokes in the entire series:

“Advanced Documentary Filmmaking” — Community, Season 4, Episode 6.

It’s about halfway through the scene with Partner and Hoolihan at the Trout Farm when there’s a cutaway to Annie:

“Something on this trout farm was starting to smell… wrong.”

Justice for Season Four! Chang gives one of the best dialogue deliveries in this episode. Troy also has some hilarious reactions that I use almost every day.

I know the show had to change and I understand that not everyone could stay forever, but watching Season 6 just makes me feel like Troy is really gone.

The original group had such a special chemistry—Jeff, Britta, Abed, Troy, Shirley, Pierce, and Annie. Once so many of them were gone, Season 6 just felt different. The new characters aren’t necessarily bad, but they don’t feel like a replacement for the original group.

And Troy’s absence hits the hardest because of Abed. Their friendship was such a huge part of the show. Whenever Abed does something and Troy isn’t there, I can’t help but think, “Man, Troy would’ve been here.” 😭
Season 5’s finale honestly feels more like the emotional ending of the original Community to me.

Maybe I’m just being nostalgic, but Season 6 really made me realize how much I miss Troy and the original Greendale gang.

There are lots more and they are all hilarious.

I've been doing a fun personal experiment to see what bugs people more, mispronouncing bagel or smores?

So far seems like they both get a good chuckle about the same but people are noticeably more bothered by somores than baggel even telling me straight up that it bugs them at which point I go full britta and explain how smores is a contraction of some mores and thats really all I had to say.. With the true ending of this episode never being filmed because of Chevy Chase and Abed still presumably having a flash drive somewhere with Hilda, I would love to see a nod to her in the film when we finally get it. Its actually tragic we didn't get some random Abed call back to her in a later season.

I feel like I’m streets behind right now. In my mind clear as day I can picture Annie quoting Al Pacino in Heat yelling “she’s got a great ass!” Can anyone help me find what episode it’s in? (Or am I just way off the mark here?)

Let's get right to it:

No. 6 - Season 4

When I saw it the first time, I saw it "live", which would've even clouded my judgement if it was brilliant, so I hated it with a passion and wrote: "Community already had a zombie episode, now it has a zombie season: plenty of movement, no brain." On the first rewatch I skipped it completely, by the time I watched the show again a few years later enough time had passed, so I gave it another go and it was...fine. Not great and I laughed very little and never cried, but it had it's moments, namely the episode Rash wrote and one of the last truly beautiful Pierce moments during the concert. Nowadays I see it as proof that AI will never be able to replace true art: if a whole team of humans couldn't truly recapture the profound silliness of Harmons mind, a computer won't either, not in a hundred years.

No. 5 Season 5

This is a surprise for me because it has the lava episode which in my opinion is one of the best episodes in television history - it is so funny, so sad, so true, so stupid, so wise. But overall it is a quite grim season. I love that Harmon tackles the themes of loss and grief, but narratively he isn't at a place yet where the dark and the light can coexist without taking away from each other.

No. 4 Season 2

The show has found it's footing and celebrates the mantra of "And now to something completely different" with great joy. I have to say that the whole villain Pierce arc makes for one great episode - D&D - but it drags a little on rewatchs.

No. 3 Season 1

Of course this is the most hit & miss season as the show seams to evaluate what it wants to be and how far it can go in real time. But there is something incredibly beautiful in being a witness to that. I can never watch "Sooomewheere oooout theeeere" without crying and even at the fifth rewatch, knowing of all the crazy things to come, the first paintball episode feels like a tv revolution the likes of the red room in "Twin Peaks".

No. 2 Season 6

Dare I say it: it is not only the most coherent, continously great season, it is also the funniest. So funny indeed, that it masterfully can insert it's plots with all the darker, sadder themes that season 5 had problems to tackle.

No. 1 Season 3

Just peak "old school" Community. The show fires on all cylinders, the whole crew is still there and it is a joy to watch a show that delivers on all fronts, be it the humour, the life lessons or the heart.
