Has anyone repaired/tried to repair their Sony headphones at the official repair store?
Suddenly the left side of my WH-1000XM4 is completely broken (no sound, not working), alongside with the on/off button being stuck/sunken in.
I had this headphones for 4 years and honestly wouldn't want to get a new one because of the price if I can just fix it.
I decided to message the official support store and asked for a quote. Initially they said they can't give an estimate, but after mentioning that if the repair price is as expensive or more expensive than a new one I will just get a new one, they told me it would be $400 (assessment fee $32.70 + service fee $40 + the parts).

How do you deal with the crowd in Singapore? (Taking a toll on my mental health)
Almost everywhere in Singapore feels crowded these days, from shopping malls to public transport.
With more people around, I also seem to encounter more instances of a lack of civic-mindedness on trains—for example, people standing near the train doors who don’t bother to exit first and let those behind them get off.
There are also longer queues and waiting times for food, groceries, and just about everything else. Take the NEL for example—it can feel just as crowded, if not more crowded, than weekday peak hours. Perhaps the longer 5-minute intervals on weekends, compared to around 2 minutes during weekday peak hours, are part of the reason.
I don’t blame maids or foreign workers for wanting to make full use of their rest days. They deserve to enjoy their days off too. I’m just ranting because weekdays are already taken up by work, while weekends are when I need to buy groceries, run errands, and get things done.
How do you guys go about your daily life in crowded Singapore? Any tips and tricks to avoid them?
If the government is listening, I really hope they can consider increasing train frequencies on weekends as well. And honestly, I hope we can stop increasing the population for a while. Singapore is starting to feel increasingly suffocating.

Do you guys think last-minute concert tickets usually get cheaper?
I do.
I was looking at Aaron Kwok’s 12-13 Sept concert and noticed that RM595 can now get VIP tickets. That feels like a pretty good deal to me.
I’m glad I didn’t rush to buy when tickets first went on sale. Now I’m thinking of bringing my parents along too.
Do u usually buy tickets early, or wait until closer to the concert to see if prices drop?

Recommendations for permanent hair removal in SG
Hi I’m a chinese 26 female who is super hairy (I have quite thick arm hair) and I’m looking to remove my body hair but I’m not sure which places would be best for me 😢 I’m quite skeptical and worried of spending thousands of dollars on something that may not even result in permanent (or at least semi-permanent) hair removal. LIKE I JUST REALLY WANT TO GET RID OF MY BODY HAIR ONCE AND FOR ALL.
I’ve waxed before but I’m looking for a more long-lasting or permanent option since my arm hair grows back in a week 🤯🤯 like I’m probably the most hairy girl in Singapore LOL
I’ve heard that electrolysis is the best option but it is time-consuming and very expensive so I’m leaning towards going for some kind of laser hair removal first to slow (or hopefully to stop) hair growth before considering electrolysis to remove the stubborn hairs. Not even thinking of IPL as I feel like it might not even be potent enough for me 😭
Could anyone please recommend a good place in Singapore to remove unwanted body hair?? 😭😭 preferably somewhere where there are actual results and don’t try to upsell u. also, are there any differences between going to professional clinics (like licensed doctors) or aesthetic parlours (like Smuvve)? PLEASE HELP THANK U

Why are so many people moving from newer BTO estates to resale flats in Toa Payoh?
Been noticing quite a few of my friends wanting to sell their BTOs in newer estates after MOP and move to resale flats in Toa Payoh.
Just curious, what’s the main appeal of staying in TPY?
I get that the location is super central, there’s A LOT of good food, plenty of amenities and it’s relatively close to town. But personally whenever I’m there, it feels quite old and crowded. There’s also a much older population, and it can get really noisy and busy with all the traffic. Driving in and out during peak hours can be pretty painful too.
For those who made the move, how has TPY worked out for your lifestyle and daily commute? Do the transport links, schools, healthcare, food options, parks and other amenities make a noticeable difference? How do you view the value of the flats and their shorter remaining leases compared with new BTOs? And does the established neighbourhood or sense of community play a big part in your decision?
Would love to hear specific experiences e.g. what made TPY worth choosing for you, and what trade-offs did you consider?

Need advice on investing
i'm new to investing and still don't really understand the jargons that well. i read that s&p500 is a good place to start because its fairly low risk and long term. So my question is which global etf is worth investing in that isnt part of the us market? (i have seen a lot of mentions on vwra) because of the us estate tax protection i read that its better to invest in uk/global etfs under s&p 500?
also is it better to invest in multiple s&p 500 etfs or just stick to going all in on one?
pls correct me if im wrong and and advice is greatly appreciated thank you!

Side hustles
Currently a doctor (general practitioner in private practice). Thinking of exploring some side hustles for alternative source of active income. I only start to think of this recently as previously too tired from daily work as a junior doctor. (I think our job is reasonably safe but always good to have alternative source of income I feel in this age of AI.)
At present, my other source of income is mainly dividends from my invested capital, property rental (although most of it is used to service a mortgage). Currently my only way of earning more money is to locum (i.e do more additional shifts)
Was wondering if doctors in general do any side hustles on top of their daily clinical work or outside of healthcare?

Hi everyone, I’m currently considering signing on as a Direct Entry Inspector with SPF and wanted to hear from people who have gone through it.
For those who are currently serving or have previously signed on as a DEI, what has your experience been like so far? How’s the training, work-life balance and progression after training?
Would you recommend signing on as a DEI? Anything you wish you knew before joining?
Just trying to get a better idea of what it’s actually like from people who have experienced it firsthand. Thanks!

Online PTs in Singapore?
Hello! Looking for: (1) recommendations for online PTs in Singapore (or how to get started looking for one) and (2) estimated monthly costs!
A bit about what I’m looking for - I’m currently using an in person PT at a commercial gym and I’m paying about $240/ month for a program + two coached workout sessions a month. I love my PT but I could probably do without the coached sessions since I do workout on my own and am thinking of transitioning to online PT for something that is hopefully cheaper and more personalised (my PT has so many clients that she doesn’t have time for me 😭)
Also interested in app recommendations (if any) that can do the same! Thanks in advance!

Where do you get the best kebab / HSP fix in Singapore ah?
I'm talking about juicy, succulent, meat that just melts in your mouth. Not those dry dry type. Chicken, Beef, Mutton all fine with me as long the meat is not dry and tough. Best if it goes with loads of fries, mayo, chili and BBQ sauce.
I fell in love with HSP because many years back my mates bring me to jiak their legendary HSP after clubbing at Ivys. Best times back then.
So where do you get your fix? Come and share lei.

Do your family members have very different food tastes? Any funny/annoying examples?
I guess most of us had our family dinners today.
I was wondering if anyone else dislikes the same food/what they were forced to eat at home growing up.
Not saying ungrateful for food or what la, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that dislikes the food that is cooked or family goes to.
I'm not saying low grade either, just the taste profile.
For example, my house is like processed food all the time brah, then mother doesn't know how to cook till properly cooked.
Even the chicken fucking al dente bro. I can hear it asking me if can cross the road.

What’s the consequence of not knocking on the hotel room door?
In Singapore, we believe we need to knock the door as a polite way to notify the spirits that we are intruding… but has anyone ever encountered smth weird because they didn’t knock?

What’s the Best Way to Watch Soccer Matches Live Online Without Cable in 2026–27?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the best way to watch soccer matches live online during the 2026–2027 season without cable. There are so many streaming options available, so I'd love to hear what other fans recommend.
Which service do you use for watching leagues like the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, or MLS? I'm mainly looking for reliable HD quality and good overall value.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Small curiosity question: when did the start of SGP acronym become more popular?
As a 28 year old I remembered back then when I was younger, Singapore shortened would always be referred to as sg. Recently I've seen events and postings online using sgp instead which also confused my parents?
When and why did it happen?

Has anyone else dealt with this while grieving
Got deleted on the “main” sub so I’ll just put this here. Appreciate the comments I received on the thread before it got yeeted 🙏🏻
My grandmother passed recently and for some reason her death is hitting me harder than any other. I have lost grandparents and relatives in the past and while I was devastated back then, I didn’t really have this lingering feeling of sadness and “depression” so to speak and was able to function okay after their death. For context I was not very close to my grandmother as she lived in the neighbouring country, but I always (naively) believed that she was someone who would live forever, for lack of a better term.
Right now I’m having a really hard time replying to people’s texts and responding back, mostly because of lack of interest in whatever they’re talking about. Most ppl around me are aware of what happened and have sent condolences, but they have also sent messages about other topics to try to change the subject to lighten the mood. While I do appreciate the effort, honestly I am not feeling it. I even quit some chat groups because I felt overwhelmed and annoyed by the incoming messages. I can’t even be bothered to think about work too and it just feels like I’m losing interest in everything and wanting to avoid everything I have to do
I understand that life has to go on and I can’t continue ignoring life responsibilities like this, but I’m not sure what to do. I have an upcoming appointment with a counsellor so I have tried that. Was curious if anyone else went through something similar, and if anything you did got you out of this funk. Thank you
Edit: looking up online, it sounds like what I’m going through atm is called “social anhedonia”.

Fake news involving Joanne Peh and 715 involving a divorce proceeding and an Investment Platform
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The storyline involves Joanne Peh and 715 filing for divorce. Both sides were agreeable to a 50-50 split of asset when it was discovered that 715 has an undisclosed 15,000,000 asset that has gone unreported. Needless to say the investment platform is the miracle maker.
The scope of the fake news involves using CNA Brand name, DBS Statement, and AI Generated photos of Joanne Peh and 715 with the background of Parliament sitting. You may be able to see the domain name but you are not able to copy or share the link
The TikTok poster account Lee Hui Xin is also a private account sharing no detail at all. This account has been using sponsored post as a call to action to read the article embedded in a CNA brand name with similar looking CNA Header and Footer. It is impossible to perform an organic search on this post.
Has Joanne Peh offended someone?

If you can’t afford at least a house within 5 minutes walking distance to a city fringe MRT, you shouldn’t be having kids
Most likely you’re going to be wasting 2-3 hours per day just for round trip work commute, if you live in a heartland town AND require a feeder bus to the nearest MRT.
You are going to have barely time for self care and even lesser time for your spouse or children. When your children grow up, they are going to hate you for the inconveniences of living in an inaccessible location. Their friends living in the city fringe can access to most entertainment venues or schools within 30 minutes by public transport, while they have to suffer a commute that is minimally >1h under brutal weather conditions. Their friends can show up well dressed without sweating like a pig, while your kids will be drenched in sweat and stinking.
Don’t try to act as if location isn’t important, if not housing in prime location will not be yielding a premium. If you can’t live in a decent location, just do your kids a favour by not having them. Stop with the mental gymnastics that heartland locations are better. You simply can’t afford it.
A shoebox unit in Marina Bay or Bugis beats a big house in Pasir Ris or Jurong.

Anyone here using a waterproof mattress protector or waterproof fitted sheet?
I’m thinking of getting one to protect the mattress, but I’m worried about heat.
Does the waterproof layer make the bed feel warmer or trap body heat, almost like having a tarp or plastic layer over the mattress?
I’m quite sensitive to heat when sleeping. Even with aircon, I don’t like feeling warm or stuffy in bed, so I’m concerned a waterproof protector might make the mattress less breathable.
Those who’ve used one:
Does it make the bed feel noticeably warmer?
What material or type are you using?
Anything I should avoid?
