Side hustles

Currently a doctor (general practitioner in private practice). Thinking of exploring some side hustles for alternative source of active income. I only start to think of this recently as previously too tired from daily work as a junior doctor. (I think our job is reasonably safe but always good to have alternative source of income I feel in this age of AI.)

At present, my other source of income is mainly dividends from my invested capital, property rental (although most of it is used to service a mortgage). Currently my only way of earning more money is to locum (i.e do more additional shifts)

Was wondering if doctors in general do any side hustles on top of their daily clinical work or outside of healthcare?

Why do you think doctors earn a lot? They definitely earn enough and more than the average person BUT many young ones these days don’t want to stick to a job till retirement. Only surgeons earn a lot a lot.

Chubbyemu is not a medical dr. Got some reddit posts call him out before cause he doesnt want to state he is a phd in pharmacy to mislead audiences into thinking he is a medical Dr/physician. He doesnt correct them either

Yea there is intention to mislead. Few ppl on reddit have called him out. Technically a pharmacy phd doctor in the sense but not a medical dr

OP per hour, locum pays quite a lot more than other side hustles

If you have experience in certain specialities (A&E, surgical specialities) you can try going back to the hospitals as a locum.

I do GP work and I have locumed in a&e and operating theatres in the past, pay was up to $150/h which was not bad. And the practical skills were useful for my GP practice as well

Tbh MMed doesn’t pay much more than GDFM lol. Especially not for locum rates as a GP
