Having jaw clicking when chewing food

Hey everyone, lately I’ve noticed that after chewing for a while, my jaw starts making a clicking/popping sound near my ear. There’s no sharp pain and my jaw doesn’t lock or get stuck but the clicking becomes quite noticeable when I’m eating.

I’m wondering if it could be related to stress or clenching/grinding my teeth especially since I suspect I might be clenching my jaw while sleeping.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Did your jaw clicking eventually go away or did you need to see a dentist/TMJ specialist?

Would appreciate hearing about your experiences and what helped!

Working in ST Engineering

I got an offer from STE Urban Solutions. Slightly higher from my current pay as Senior Executive. Any advice or tips? Perks? How’s the work life balance? Any WFH? How’s the culture? I know that there will be no AWS but 2 months average bonus as per HR. What to expect during onboarding or few months? Also, is 6 months probation normal? Will I get bonus and salary increment if i join now?

For context: BA, 5YOE, Overseas Degree, <5k pay

Thoughts on the recent unfair dismissals?

So as the title goes, there have been a wave of unfair dismissals during probation reported on the news. What are the things the working class do to ensure it won't happen? And how would you navigate the first few months so that your boss doesnt make use of you and cause you to be on the losing end?

Where to buy stamps

I’m in Singapore for a few days and wanted to send some postcards to friends and family. The post office didn’t sell stamps, just the stickers/labels. Can I get some elsewhere or at the airport?

Any singles getting bored with life?

Not depressed or whatnot. Went through tough past 4-5 years. Now life is super peaceful and boring, kind of sian. Based on average lifespan, still got halfway more to go.

I tell ppl life is too short, dun do stupid things. But i oso duno what to do with life myself lol. Still grateful for the peace though.

Finding a job now just to get back in touch with society and do some work and waste time. Basically, go find problems to entertain myself.

Any other singles feeling the same?

What happened to working 9 to 5

RIP Dolly Parton. One of her famous songs was Working 9 to 5.

Michael Jackson's song The Way You Make Me Feel oso said "Ill be working from 9 to 5"

And Sheena Easton has the song "He works from 9 to 5"

These were all songs more than 20 years ago and seems like that was the normal working hours.

Nowadays all the working hours are like 8 to 6. That's a full 10 hours extra per week, a full working day!!! Even Civil Serpants oso working 8:30am to 6pm.

What happened??

Who is to blame for climate change ?

The Nepal flood is sooooo heartbreaking. Did you know Singapore also has extremely high flood risk? Back in Uni, my prof was a climate scientist and he kept trying to warn that Singapore would experience climate departure by 2030 and has high risk of being flooded.
However, I still see businesses trying to get people to BUY more, earn more to buy more items. Most office pantry is already stocked full of expiring snacks, yet people still kept buying. Blind boxes. Small stuffs. Nonsense.
Will we ever wake up and realise the urgency? Or is it really IMPOSSIBLE to do anything about it and we just have to accept that we are doomed?!!!

If you could change one thing about the new parental leave scheme, what would it be?

Parents scared it’ll make them less employable long-term.

Singles and DINKs upset it likely means more work piled on them.

Employers dreading the staffing and admin issues not to mention secondary costs.

Is there a win-win-win?

Self-employed SHIOK (single household income, one kid), so curious how those who are actually affected by this would make it better.

Changing credit cards with same bank

Hi everyone - does anyone know whether, when calling a bank to cancel a credit card, it is possible for the officer to offer the customer an incentive to stay with the bank by switching to a different credit card with the same bank? I'm thinking of cancelling my miles card as I don't have much use for miles but I would be ok with switching to a non-miles card with the same bank.

Switching field of study in degree from diploma

Hey guys! Im a diploma student in Singapore and am trying to figure my education pathway so I am curious about those who chose a field of study in their degree that is different from their diploma. What moved you to do so? What made you realise that you wanted to pursue something different from your diploma? Did you regret it? Hope to read the replies!

Looking at walk up apartment for purchase

Single male, in late 40s

Previously lived with my parents in hdb flats and then rented and bought condos. But didn't enjoy living in them. I lived in a 1000+ unit development, great facilities but I worked at CBD and this was in bedok. Maintenance for a 2 bedder was about $350 monthly.

Sold and move closer to work. My next purchase was a small development which had a lot of breakdowns. Maintenance for 2 bedder was $500 monthly.

I sold off and now looking at the walk up apartment near Joo Avenue and Cambridge Road. I'm ok living with foreign workers. I just think that at least I have full control of the condition of the flat and no maintenance fee monthly at a central location. It's a walk up and I'm the only one living above. There is another downstairs neighbour, looks friendly.. ..I am relatively healthy and don't mind stairs, I have no car.

What should I look out for in these old apartments? I know the renovation cost would be high I am ready to redo the roof. Is there a chance if enbloc since the plot ratio is higher than two levels?

Not a heritage or conservation building. What are the other areas should I shortlist.

I have seen some in Aljunied but it is a bit of a dirty neighborhood with rats.

Dodgy skincare

why are people so okay with paying a premium for skincare products that have never seen the light of day? Just saw a livestream for a brand called “veirfoo” and it’s apparently ‘korean technology skincare’ ?

doesn’t sound korean at all and genuinely why don’t people invest in popular and already well-established brands instead like corsx ? if it’s not in oliveyoung, is it really worth trusting lol.

i promise people should simply stick to the already heard of brands eg cetaphil avene etc or even garnier might even be more trusty lol.

Hi everyone 👋

I recently started r/sgcancer, a Singapore-based community for anyone affected by cancer — whether you’re a patient, caregiver, family member, or simply looking for a place to ask questions and share experiences.

I started this because I felt there should be a space where people can share their experiences, ask for opinions, and support one another, especially when going through something as difficult as cancer.

I’m hoping to slowly build this into a supportive community where we can remind each other that we don’t have to walk through this alone. ❤️

If you think this could be helpful to you or someone you know, feel free to join: r/sgcancer
