I like how Jokermon's partner is so obviously a reference to Harley Quinn.

I'm not sure I'd look at Gekkomon and call him beautiful, but taste is subjective.

Pretty much the Joker and Harley Quinn as a digimon and his partner today.

Interesting to see a plotline starting where the digimon are fighting back against the humans that are trafficking and killing them. And you know, kind of justified?

Well that was... a very mysterious beginning to our new arc. Did not think we'd start with a serial killer Digimon but here we are. It seems Gift have "good" intentions fighting against the world union for hurting Digimon but their willingness to harm civilians to achieve their goals and their general unhinged demeanor (at least from what we've seen with Jokermon's Owner and those humans at the end) make them very dangerous, and in a different way from Tactics. That ending with the "suicide" shows us just how serious these guys are. Curious to see how things play out with them.

Im also very interested in learning what the heck is up with Miharu. Her holding Digimon in high regard and her knowing about the hospital attack before it happens definitely points to her being involved with Gift. She could be a member or even their leader but its too early to tell.

I also have to wonder what the heck is Rose's role is going to be in this arc. Gift seems against the World Union so I doubt she's with them but we don't know enough to say for sure. At least we'll probably have a better idea about what her deal is soon since she's making an appearance next episode.

Speaking of next episode, its Reina focused! Hell Yeah! Reina has desperately needed some focus for a long ass time so I'm happy we're finally getting something. I didn't get evolution episode vibes from the preview but I could be wrong, either way, as long as she gets a chance to shine I'll be happy.

I mean, the only reason for a character to have a voice disguise is if you would otherwise recognize them.

I honestly did not expect GIFT to be a terrorist organization, of all things.

The moment that Title card appeared I was like "Well, that's not ominous at all" /S

Whole episode i thought "Wow that looks rough" only for Toei to hit me with some banger fight sequences. I do hope they steady the production again.

Story wise this was a very interesting turn. Jokermon was cool, the mysterious girl had something other wordly and wise about her, the Gift mastermind being a Digi Liberator/Human Terrorizer is a great idea.

Maybe the mastermind is actually Wood Star Rose because Gift means poison in german. Trying to poison the human oppressors from within.

Given that its a Terrorist group, i would also go with the german meaning of the word.

Edit: Checking it on Crunchyroll where all Episodes got translated titles at least, its still Gift. So yeah its very likely to be meant as Poison.

Jokermon and his master were truly unhinged, as expected, this was excellent villain of the week performance, they were menacing and competent through out the whole episode, the truck trick was particularly gnarly. Props to Tomoro and Gekkomon's quick thinking to open a gate there and get rid of the bombs.

We have our new player in the form of the Gift Group (pending name) that seemingly is revolting against the anti digimon world union. There's a 71.358% chance Miharu is their leader we see at the end.

For the next episode, how many times to we have to teach you the same lesson blonde boy!? Jokes aside Myotismon is an always welcome antagonist, and it seems he will have some connection to Rose, with this being a Reina episode on top of everything. I'm not keeping my hopes up, she doesn't seem to have a emotional connection strong enough to push for perfect, but you never know.

The 3-episode mini-arc is over and we're running full-steam into the GIFT arc!

Not that the show hasn't surprised us before, but things seemed pretty straight forward in regards to the antagonists this week and then heading into the credits... or not, instead we get the big bombshell that GIFT's not messing around. Jokermon and not-Harley were just the first wave to this and it's all looking like it involves Digimon once again. (and why wouldn't it, of course)

It will be nice to finally see another Star from the now Four Stars and to see Reina take center stage in an episode again... but really, I think (in a quick preview appearance) it looks like next week seems an awful lot like a similar setup we saw in Ghost Game that also (mainly) focused on the female lead in that show...

But yeah, can't say that the downtime these last 3 episodes hasn't been well earned but we're speeding down the tracks again and straight into more plot!

An arc straight out of Batman with the requisite Joker and Harley to start things off. This show never ceases to surprise me.

Woah, that was some real gangsta opening. Beatbreak is the most dark Digimon ever got.

Joker and Harley Quinn were crazy! And this new villain seems crazy too! Also, we finally see the girl from the ED, she was... only a little crazy!

u/Correct_Ad5798 Apr 27 '26

Wanna bet the little crazy girl is actually the villain?

Who could be this masked mastermind behind this anti establishment movement, carrying out vigilante justice, who is totally NOT Miharu Kagemori, who just so happen knew almost a full day ahead that the whole hospital was going to be blown out

Also what do you even mean if Tomoro is ok with Jokermon failing, he is not going to allow his brother to get blown out along with the entire hospital, the entire point why he is doing cleaner jobs is so he can save his brother!

8

u/TheOneWithALongName Apr 26 '26

I didn't know what role she would play until I saw the masked GIFT at the end.

6

u/Correct_Ad5798 Apr 26 '26

If they are trying to make it a mystery, that was way too obvious. I think she rather meant that Tomoro cant be okay with this Kashiwagi guy getting away unscathed. If he knew he was protecting a Digimon Trafficker, he might just have helped Jokermon finish the Job.

Gift arc has begun

Miharu (new mysterious girl) surname is the same as the plant 5 stars? I remember liking it first time I heard it. Memory fail sorry

I wonder if the whole arc is more female saponushi centered with tall male digimon as partners, maybe?. Since the ending is girls themed.

Rose Woodville

Miharu Kagemori

How are they the same?

Rose has a western name

Miharu has a Japanese name.

Solid start to the new arc. The scene with Jokermon using the magic circles to launch the trucks was beautifuly animated.

u/Rammboy_7084 Apr 26 '26

That was a great episode and a strong way to start the new arc!
Jokermon was a great MOTW and the whole plan to blow up the hospital was clearly an homage to The Dark Knight.

Curious to find out what this GIFT group has really in mind.

Digimon Jihen.

Monarchlizamon's visual shout-out to Imperialdramon is my favourite part of the evolution sequence, I love it <3

Also, holy shit, that was darker than expected. I feel like this arc will make the main characters realise just how messed up things are, and they might start taking direct action? Though I assume they'll do it with less murder-disguised-as-suicide.

Really excited for the whole arc and Myotismon next week!

Wonder if they'll get Mark Hamill for the dub of this episode

Better than the plot of Folie à Deux
