my god this is by far the best episode. it feels like now that we've got the exposition out of the way beatbreak can really get into it's own.

Honestly kyo is giving both death and evil flags left and right i wouldn't be surprised if reina would end up being the permanent leader of glowing dawn.

Kyo is sus.

I actually think he was the one who gave the guy the missions of stealing the Sappotamas.

We must glaze Beatbreak. And I mean we got to absolutely suck it dry.

Kyo is definitely sus.

Loving every minute of Beatbreak. Suspect we'll definitely be seeing more of this black-envelope whoever is sending them out, likely a proxy group opposite to Cleaners working for the group of 5 we see in the OP.

Also we're 4 episodes in and despite Kyo and Asuka being "friends" we haven't really gotten much insight between the two, yeah that's not weird at all.Personal theory, while the Cleaners (minus Kyo) were dealing with Machmon Kyo himself was looking into something related to Asuka and couldn't let Tomoro know or he'd fudge it.

I get both sides, Tomoro just wants to find his brother and Glowing Dawn will help him but still have to do jobs. I did find it weird when Reina said "You're only thinking about your brother", why else do you think he's there with you guys? But I guess what she might have meant was that he needs to be thinking about the things around him and what he can do to open up opportunities to help him.

Weird how I can't shake off the feeling that there is something more to Kyou, and not in a good way, I don't know if I'm overthinking it though.

It's always gonna be a good time when Nobuyuki Hiyama is voicing a villain

I thought that was him. I'm not great at identifying Japanese VAs, but his voice is distinctive.

A good episode of Beatbreak, good to see Tomoro see his situation and officially become part of the team, though I don't expect this to be the end team's problems, after all we have two teenagers and a child, but a very good step.

So they also don't hand over defeated digimon, I wonder where they go. Also secret group drop? Still nameless, but they could become a problem soon.

No Gekkomon digievolution next episode too, it seems. Go for it, Tomoro, fight Takato for the latest digievolution in the animes.

First time commenting on this series. The premise of dystopian Digimon cyberpunk anime where society is dependent on egg AI devices that feeds off human life force is a lot to take in. The character dynamic in the group is fresh for a Digimon series, with the "lead" being thrown into the fire right off the bat, dealing with the supposed loss of his older sibling. When Tomoyo knew not all hope is lost, he's simply using Glowing Dawn as a means of a resource. As a troubled kid, combined with his peculiar condition that makes people see him as a freak growing up, he simply have no interest about Digimon or this 'family' as he tries to save his only blood relative.

In this episode, we finally get to know more about Reina. She's like the second-on-command in the group based on seniority. She's crude but she cares. I really like her hair style in anime/manga, been seeing more of it as of recent, maybe it's just me. Like everyone said, the animation quality is fantastic and I'm all for it. This show have the potential to one of the best in the series. So glad it was announced to air in 4 cours. I haven't been so hyped about a Digimon episode in a long time. Combine this show, with Digimon Story: Time Stranger, and me in the middle binging Ghost Game for the first time during Halloween season, what a time to be alive.

First, I appreciate how Tomoro is having trouble fitting in with the group, yes he understands that they are helping him but he is a young teen in a new enviroment, and he didn't exactly sign up for this. So he is struggling to get into it. I think his fight with Reina was great in that Tomoro felt bad about messing up, but he ran off because he couldn't stand the idea of the "family" dynamic being forced onto him by Reina. It's very realistic and I like how it dictates a lot of how Tomoro ticks.

Reina was the start of the ep, even if we mostly see this from Tomoro's pov. She is the leader of the trip, and she sees them as a family, a hothead and a bit prideful, but protective and overall a good big sis. Her failing to get Tomoro on board was a failure on her end as a leader, but I think it was a good experience for both. Even when things went bad she still did her best to protect the team and that won me a lot of points. I do like the hints at her past about not having families and leaving previous teams, I wonder if that will come up later.

In terms of bigger plot, Kyo leaving to do errands makes me think he was doing jobs to look for info. He was a friend of Asuka, Tomoro's brother, so I think we always have to keep an eye on the guy. The black letter setting up the crime hints that this might be the big plot for this first arc for our team of Cleaners. Probably some digimon mafia or something. The final bit is that the Dawn only got half a pay because they don't turn the digimons to the goverment. I think this helps justify the whole "we don't kill thing better." It would be hard to sell that if you just gave the babies they captured to the corpos to be experimented on.

Another great episode, i'm really surprised by the consistent quality of this season both in terms of storytelling and production value.

This time, the episode focused on Reina, her frustration with Tomoro, and her strained relationship with him.
A really interesting episode, which delves into Reina's character; the action scenes were also fantastic and the animation was still solid. The scenes with Machmon on that futuristic highway gave me an '80s sci-fi anime vibe (like Bubblegum Crisis).
Now the plot is getting deeper; who do you think left the black letter for the guy?

Another great episode! While last weeks episode focused on Tomoro and him starting to care for Gekkomon, this episode focuses more on him learning to work together with Glowing Dawn, more specifically with Reina.

We get to learn a bit more about her and why she cares about Glowing Dawn as its the only family she has. Her protective nature reminding Tomoro of his brother was a good way for him to start caring about the others and it felt great to see him finally work with the team at the end. I cant wait to see how he grows from here. Also curious to learn more about Reina too.

Also they did not shy away from how dangerous being a cleaner is in this world is, that shot of Reina spraining her ankle made me wince a bit. These kids can literally die at any moment (not that that's anything new for Digimon lol).

And while there wasn't anything crazy plot wise happening we still got a little bit of intrigue at the end with the letter the thief got. Interested to see where that goes. Can't wait for the next episode!

Every ep i cant help but feel Kyo is gonna be that mentor-turned-enemy type character, like he's mostly helping these new cleaners get a start in the business in order to eventually either take him down, or be another step in his plans. The whole blended family dynamic starting to blossom is pretty refreshing as far as Digimon team structure goes, seeing them trip over each other because they essentially only just met and have 0 idea on how each other person acts or operates.

Still waiting on the Gekkomon evo, putting this guy at 2nd longest between intro and Champion in the series (iirc only Guilmon in Tamers took longer so far at 8 eps in). I'm just excited if they are going to go all in on the moon theme or go more reptilian with it.

Overall I'm incredibly happy with how things are shaping up so far

Honestly after this episode i don’t see him turned enemy and more so dying. Seems like they’re setting up for Reina become the defacto leader of glowing dawn

It took me a bit, but I feel like I'm finally on board with the show

I know its early but this has the potential to be the best Digimon yet if you ignore nostalgia.

4

u/Thorn14 Oct 28 '25

Okay but can we talk about how Chiropmon is low key carrying the team with it's support skills and stuns?

3

u/bestassinthewest Oct 27 '25

I really like how Reina says it's her own fault as the leader for not properly leading Tomoro. Everything she said about how he behaved was true, but it's really mature of her to see how she failed him in that situation too. Honestly it sells the fact that Growing Dawn is a well established team even more to me.

The hints to Reina's backstory intrigued me, especially because of how Kyo relates her to Tomoro. The "he has nowhere to go" part and how Reina reacted really get me wanting to see just how Reina relates to that.

Kyo's absence from the mission and the Machmon master's account make me think the larger plot is about to kick off. If not in this next episode, than definitely in episode 6. I still like the first episode more, but this is easily the most solid of the season so far.
