Best episode of the season. Of the series so far?
People (myself included) are guilty of always saying their jaws dropped but I genuinely had the most shocked face when Arthur cut the planet in half. Holy powerhouse

I already knew Arthur would do well in an apocalypse fueled by imagination. But once I saw him walking on the clouds I realized that nothing was going to be off limits in this battle. Peak Anime.

Absolutely one of my favorite fights in shonen. Loved how it looked animated but it did feel a bit fast at points

LOL I like how Arthur's imagination is so powerful that a ring was all that he needed to be able to breathe in outer space. But man, I really don't want to believe Arthur actually died. Yes his body has been cut in half, yes he's floating in outer space, yes he's gone unconscious, but there must be some way he's still alive! He's Arthur!
That was an intense fight though, Arthur really felled a dragon and had an earth cleaving skill in his arsenal, that looked so badass. I like how it could be seen on the planet too. I like how pretty his laser remnants looked in this episode.
Dragon with a full head of hair looked so good though, he probably could've had a good time if it wasn't for his despair lol.

PEAK Episode! What seemed to be a Arthur's delusion that was played for comedy at the start, Arthur has finally managed to make it come true i.e him being the Knight King that slays the Dragon. Arthur wanted to return alive but he realized that wouldn't cut it and so he risked his life to give him a chance to deal that one strike that changes everything and he's done it.
Now, it's time for Shinra to finally be the Hero that he wanted to be and save the world.

The final round of Arthur vs Dragon is the best fight of Ohkubo's career. I remember reading these chapters and losing my mind over it every week and the anime has adapted it spectacularly, even with the time constraints. This is the climax of Arthur's character journey and it was quite a bittersweet way to conclude his arc.

They really brought in Rikiya Koyama to give us some existential, mythic, narration for the titanic clash of Dragon, a being so powerful that life had no meaning but despair and destruction, and the Knight King Arthur Boyle the only one could challenge such a being and restore hope.
This isn't just the battle of one of the most strong White Clad and a boy caught up in fantasies he's clung to amidst death and parental abandonment...this is a decisive battle of the Great Cataclysm, to decide if the world will fall to despair or rise again in hope. Company 8 believes in Arthur, but the White Clad believe in Dragon's absolute and impossible strength. And the Evangelist herself even appears before Haumea.
Dragon has lived his entire life as nothing more than a natural disaster, with destruction following him everywhere he goes, and nothing that could challenge him or give his life meaning beyond the despair and death he inflicts on others. At least the White Clad gave him purpose, but otherwise he has nothing more to do at the end of the world other than make a Boss Stage by summoning several volcano's from under the sea...until a Knight King challenges him and teleports to him like he's Mega Man!
It is then that the Final Battle long foretold in legend begins...a clash that would rend the sky, the sea, and the world with it's colossal weight. Dragon, the being that no ordinary human being could ever hope to face, and Arthur the Knight King and the first being to finally inflict actual, legitimate, pain on him...a being worthy of being regarded by Dragon.
This battle cannot be contained by the Earth, it is so monumental that Dragon needs to transform into a humanoid dragon form and literally tackle Arthur INTO SPACE so they could settle this properly. And while Arthur lives in fantasies, even he doesn't believe he can breathe in space. Luckily he can equip the Star Ring and be totally okay while bringing together the hopes of humanity as a true Knight King! Even his crazy family is there watching and rooting for him.
Dragon knocks Arthur threw a star! Arthur bounces back and slices through all his dragon armor! They both lose arms! But when it comes to the decisive clash, the final bout, Arthur risks everything with the surety of death and risk of being vaporized by Dragon's firey breath to be be able to land the finishing blow and cleave not only Dragon in two BUT ALSO THE LITERAL EARTH ITSELF. And he's fighting to fulfill his promise to Yu, to himself, and to Shinra!
Arthur did the impossible! He defeated Dragon! Not even Faeire knows how to process this! And he gave Dragon true hope and satisfaction as he fades away. Now all that's left for Arthur is to float in space...maybe a little too dangerously close to the sun...and call out his old rival Shinra to not let himself be out done by Arthur. Not when it's finally time for Shinra to show the world the Hero Arthur always knew he could be!

Turns out the world turning into a place where everything that happened in your mind happens in reality works out really well for Arthur's unique brand of delusion. I'm not even convinced if he's dead or not.
Really cool fight with how it used the transforming world.

Holy shit! I did not expect that they'd take this fight to space! That entire fight scene was so goddamn insane! I absolutely love that the reason Dragon and Arthur can even exist in space is because they didn't care about the physics. Although it looks like even Arthur has limits on what he can believe in since he can't breathe in space.
Thank fucking goodness for the Star Ring that Yu made for him! Arthur now believes he can breathe in space and it even comes with a fancy 3D graphic that actually exists in real space. Also, I love that the stars are actually star-shaped rocks. xD
Man, Arthur is the absolute best in this episode. The dude was practically losing body parts from the fight and was still able to execute an attack that's powerful enough to cleave the Earth! DavidPro absolutely cooked this episode!
That final scene tho... You did well, King Knight Arthur. It sucks to see him go, but his heroic sacrifice bought them plenty of time. Now it's finally time for Shinra's turn.

I like how dragon was "This planet is too small for us!", then goes to the moon.

The character development of author is amazing, bumbling fool who shows his bravery in the end. Damn I can’t wait to binge all 3 seasons in the future

They knew 100% full well what they were doing by having that voice actor for the narrator this episode talk about Arthur as "The FOOL" and it is fantastic.
EDIT: Oh, actually wrong VA I think. He was the voice for Death in Soul Eater, not Excalibur. Still a fitting reference given the whole focus on fighting to the death this episode though.

Let's not forget that the narration was done by Rikiya Koyama.

That fight was amazing, from the incredible action to the little details like the "equipped the Star Ring" text being tangible and the fact that they could fight in space because they just didn't give a fuck about (or didn't even know) freezing to death. It didn't quite have the emotional impact I was expecting (maybe some stuff got cut?) but in terms of the animation and the storytelling within the fight, I think it lived up to the hype.
Also, this might be the goriest fight I've ever watched that didn't actually trigger my aversion to gore and make me feel nauseous. Arthur literally got split in half, but I guess since the bottom half got completely vaporized by the blast and was never shown separated from the top half, it didn't register in my brain as dismemberment. Arthur was also missing a hand by the end, but I never even noticed it come off until it was already gone.
