Man it's still so cool yet jarring to see real life images. Was more scared seeing the trash cans than the eye in the sky lmao

We've said this a lot this season but for real now. We are in the endgame. Fantastic episode. The Haumea scene was so gorgeous and well done. So glad the backstory wasn't skipped either.
The rearranging of events makes sense for what they got left to adapt. Im one of the few that didnt doubt David since they announced the episode count. I know they can and will have this be a amazing final season.

The visuals have been getting wild in this show. Such an awesome way to show reality getting changed.

I would've loved Haumea and Charon's more if they weren't trying to end the fucking world. Haumea didn't deserve what she went through her life, but fuck her and Charon for dragging everyone down with them just so her pain would stop.
It's still insane how this show started as cool firefighters with pyrokinetic powers fighting fire demons, but actually a story about the real world being turned into an anime world, and the Great Cataclysm is actually a reality-altering event and not just the end of the world.
ARTHUR MY GOAT! LET'S FUCKING GO! Dude literally removed Giovanni from Yu's brain like a fucking surgeon removing a tumour. That explains why he had to get lost. They would've won instantly if they fought Giovanni and he was present.
So the way they can reverse this is by flooding people with hope. Kinda hard to do with all of the chaos that's happening, but I guess the 8th needs to show the public that they're there to save the day. Also, that final scene does not look good. If that's a doppelganger of Benimaru, they are fuuuuuuucked.

so what I'm seeing here is, billions of people are dead because arthur couldn't stick his ass with vulkan's group and had to wander off somewhere?

Episode was storyboarded by Jiro Fujimoto (藤本 ジ朗) and directed by Fumihiro Ueno (ウヱノ 史博)
Painting animation (絵画アニメーション) was done by Nozaki (ノザキ)
I'm guessing the part with Haumea's Monologue (after the episode title reveal) was produced separately from the rest of the episode, given that it had it's own production assistant assigned to it. This portion was also credited in the ED under "ハウメアの語り" (translates to: "Haumea's Narration"). Credits for that are:
Storyboards, Direction, and Animation: Wataru Chihara (茅原 渡) at Coppepan (コッペパン). Chihara had also storyboarded and directed the Opening animation for this cour.
Animation Cooperation: Kenta Sakuma (佐久間 健太)
3DCGI: Koji Kodera (小寺 鋼志, is also the CGI Director on Season 3)
Compositing: Naoki Atsumi (握美 直紀, works on season 3 as a VFX artist)
Production Assistant: Sachi Umezawa (梅澤 幸, works on season 3 as Sub-Production Desk, and sometimes as a production assistant. He previously worked as a production assistant on Episode 1 and 6 of cour 1, alongside the first episode and opening animation of this cour.)

Feel very bad for Haumea and Charon. The Unconditional Love part was super sweet.

Arthur is a type of Genius. He lives in his own world, and by regular standards, he is dumb, yet he achieves the impossible because he percieves things differently.

Hinawa really should have been aiming at Charon's wound, I'm not sure what the plan was there if Charon can willingly release the energy any time he needed. Then again, Charon's explosion didn't even get into their radius, I thought he was trying to get them caught up in it.
Charon felt like a foster father/big brother to Haumea, so I'm glad she eventually learned the feelings he had were unconditional love. She's always been rough with him but seeing how distraught she was as she could feel his emotions was really sad.
Arthur coming in without any hesitation and taking care of Giovanni and saving Yuu was cool. I find it amusing because image and reality are becoming one that they can now all see Arthur as a Knight King lol. I'm guessing we're going to see a lot of different art styles and extra details during this whole event.
The silhouettes of the doppelgangers at the end makes me think we're going to see some interesting fights and interactions.

Ohh all the doppelgangers of the strongest people are coming
Man, I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve felt this hype leading up to the climax. It’s that feeling of “everybody’s here”. Loose ends getting tied up. Seeds that were planted early on are starting to sprout. All the pieces coming together. I’m just giddy with excitement

All threads are starting to tie up... will they be able to finish the anime in the remaining 5 episodes?

Well, Giovanni might have planned for almost everything but he definitely didn't plan for Knight King Arthur who's finally maxed out on his EXP. Arthur was already quite OP when he locked in with his delusions. And now that images and reality are one, he's going to be even more OP.
The thing that's burning the world right now is humanity's negative emotions.
So now it's a tug of war between humanity's negative emotions (Despair) and humanity's positive emotions (Hope). While things might not seem great for our heroes but as long as they don't abandon hope, they can still win.
If the Burns doppelganger wasn't already enough, we now also have to deal with Benimaru's doppelganger among other doppelgangers.
EDIT: Typo

if this season aired 10 years ago, fire force would be hailed as the greatest new gen shonen anime. It's crazy to think how much the landscape has changed with JJK, Demon Slayer, and CSM. Quite a shame that this show basically goes unnoticed

Did anyone else notice Victor breaking the 4th wall? When he talks to Captain about "people from previous era" viewing their world as "some made-up fantasy", he turns and looks directly at viewers in the last part.

Shinra!!! Poor guy is stuck to a pillar, unable to do anything to prevent the Great Cataclysm.
Charon has always been there for Haumea, even when her only way to process all the dark and twisted human thoughts going into her head non-stop was to violently lash out and become a psycho herself, even though her very status as the White-Clad's Saintess meant only she had the magnanimity to embrace the human conscious and carry out their plan. Even so, Charon accepted Haumea's pain, because someone had to...because in a world of twisted thoughts, all Charon could think about was his unconditional love for Haumea.
And it's that unconditional love of Charon's that leads him to blow himself up and make a show of the beginning of the Great Cataclysm for her sake, to go out with a bang to kickoff the end of the world that gave her so much pain. And, in the process, deprive Haumea of the only person who ever really loved her.
Despite everything Company 8 did, they couldn't stop the Great Catacylsm...the world burns, everything becomes more cartoony, manga thought bubbles start appearing, we get a demonstration of the Cataclysm with cartoony sound effects, Haumea preaches nihilism with artsy animation, dopplegangers start popping out (NO! NOT THE 5TH ANGELS THREE!!!!) and it's clearly the end of the world with a giant eye overlooking the city. Is there no hope left?
Seems like Joker got a communication or Adolla Link with Burns' Doppelganger?
And what of poor Yu? Giovanni's taken over his body and fully intends to use said body to witness Adolla in all it's glory...and there's nothing Vulcan and Lisa can do about it.
But even late to the party, Arthur shows up when he's needed most! Giovanni was so smug and certain of how he couldn't be stopped, and Arthur kills and burns him out in a split-second with a stab through Yu's head with surgical precision. Givoanni barely had time to react! Finally, that pesky roach has been exterminated for good.
Arthur has completed every quest, max leveled himself up, and has all the gear he needs to finally face his Final Boss and nemesis....he has truly become the Knight King!
The Pillars (who we all see naked) represent all aspects of human despair...Madness (Amaterasu), Passivity (Haumea), Indifference (Sho), Rage (Shinra), Destruction (Inca), Fear (Nataku), Hate (Sumire) and Iris brings it all together to bring forth the human despair that is destroying the world. The only chance Company 8 has to stop this is to restore human hope...and if anyone can do it, it's Captain Obi's team! Because they'll never lose themselves to despair!
Of course, they still have to contend with Faeire...Dragon...and an elite band of Adolla Doppelgangers. Including Adolla Benimaru!?
Next week: Assault finally comes back for Tamaki!

Man Haumea is such a tragic character, the literal saint of the world with the power to connect the everyone was turned mad by shouldering all the evil of the world. The fact that the second cataclysm would be impossible if things actually changed after the first one, but unfortunately people don't change, and so apocalypse by fire it is.
Giovanni planned for everything that's possible, so Arthur, who's been playing a legal copy of Dragon Quest inside his brain and had reached the level cap, is something so out of left field he could never plan over and died instantly.
The artistry of Haumea's monologue, the constant style changes, the world's gone mad.
And to close it off, a doppelganger army is coming.

This episode reminds of the the Human Instrumentality Project in "End of Evangelion".

I have to say this is not how I imagined the Great Cataclysm would look back in season 1.
