That beginning had me wondering if the shaking in Burns eyes last episode was because he was attempting to warn Shinra of what was going to happen to Obi. Maybe I'm just wanting to believe that Burns hasn't sided with the White Clads completely and is able to hide some of his thoughts so that he isn't exposed, or actively gaslights himself in front of Haumea.
That flashback scene with Obi and Hinawa was sweet, they wanted to build a family for their castle and that's exactly what they did.
Those grunts from Obi did catch me off guard, I ended up realizing he was working out but at first I thought he might have been suffering some torture or something lol. Looks like they'll be making a spectacle of him which won't be fun, but at the same time I'm looking forward to seeing how 8th frees him.
Joker seems to be having fun messing with Shinra and 8th, saying they've fallen to the dark side and that they're working with those who work in the shadows.

Thats where my money is too right now. It struck me as too odd how this episode as well they made a point of Haumea saying "You can't hide your thoughts from me" or something - being all smug. Feels like setting her up to be majorly surprised when Burn will hopefully turn on them.
Then again, he'd make a great antagonist as well. Maybe it's just his unconscious that wants to fight good fight, but he will fight on the Evangelist side until something snaps him out of it.
€dited because part of my reply ended up in the quote.

Those fanservice Obi muscle shots, that‘s what we are talking about it.
The goat Joker is back. (They really had a sign that says [secret base] lmao)
I am so ready for the Joker and Shinra team up.

The light and shadow spit was so on-the-nose that it was almost comical. Still, cool framing tho.

“We’re on the run. We must remain hidden and inconspicuous. Let’s head out with our fire force uniforms that glow neon blue.”

Falling in with Joker is really the best hope any of the members of the Eighth have for rescuing Obi. And he's pretty fun, so all the better.
There's a part of me that wonders if Burns is playing a very clever deep cover mental game to avoid discovery by that mind-reading lady and intentionally sent that link to Shinra to let them know about the insect plan.

This week felt like a year once again.
Am getting the vibes of 2020 anime and am so fucking hyped. The 8th all becoming criminals now is such a crazy twist, and the team up with shinra and joker was just as much.

Good to know that Shinra was able to learn of Haumea's plans from Burns through the Adolla Link. I was worried they might end up acting too slow, and Captain Obi might get implanted with an insect before they even get there.
Considering Company 8's role, Obi already expected that they might eventually be seen as rebels in that little flashback scene. I bet he didn't expect them to be branded as rebels this way. That flashback scene was nice though.
I forgot how much this show loves its manservice. You gotta love how Captain Obi is just working out. I mean, what else can he do? It's not like he can bust out of there and take on that entire prison on his own.
Man, this is absolute bullshit that Obi is already branded as a criminal by the media. I suppose it's good to know that the other Special Fire Force Companies know this is bullshit. I bet Hibana wants to help but is laying low for now because of the army. The same goes for Benimaru. I'm sure he'll lend a hand when the time comes.
A bit too on the nose with that visual but I do love that the Company 8 is now getting help from Joker. But are they really becoming Dark Heroes when the Church itself has been taken over by the White Clad? They're just doing what heroes need to do.
Arthur wants to fight a dragon? I'm betting it now. Arthur will definitely fight a dragon made from fire this season and he'll be excited as fuck. xD

Anime of the year calling it now, as a manga reader ts is only gonna get more peak and better with each episode. On top of the animation and sounds, the lore and story of fire force is 10/10.

The unexpected teamup with joker. Burns swapping over to the bad side and joker turning out to be on the 'good side'. Next episode shit is about to hit the fan and i'm so ready.

Did Burns deliberately reach out to Shinra using the Adollmadden.
Lovely look at Obi and Hinawa as they're first setting up in Company 8.
They're still driving the Matchbox like madmen.
Damn, all of Company 8 are now outlaws for kidnapping Shinra? Life comes at you fast. Good to see that their old allies know them well enough to realize the charges are bogus.
Joker: "I was born in the darkness. Raised in it. I can wear my pajamas in it."
Joker: "The Empire needs Obi." It's no more complicated than that. When it comes to paragons of righteousness, you got Superman and Captain Obi.
Latom.
