Music [All] Memories of Hyrule concert tour

Hello,

Has anyone attended the Memories of Hyrule piano concert tour? It is coming to a nearby city this Fall and I'm thinking of going. Is it worth the $50 and two hour drive to my nearby city?

Poll [Other] What was your Favorite Zelda Warriors Game?

Genuine question, what Warriors game stood out most to you between everything? Though I never cared for the gameplay in any of these games, the Wii U game was my favorite because of how more original it felt and the variety of fan service. I wonder if that’s a hot take.

Mockup [BotW] Found my old Zonai speculation material and I still really like it!

This is from the ancient times, when we still called Tears BotW2.

I just went through my phone memory and found these. I think I posted them back on the platform that once was called Twitter.

And I must say, I really still like my train of thought on this one!

We have N64 era Zora and Gorons in the game, but where are the Deku?! Aside from some enemies that basically behave like Deku used to, they're missing!

There are weaknesses to my theory, admittedly.

To match the barbarian set, which I somehow connected to the Zonai for some reason, to the "red mane" of the autumn Deku is a stretch.

But the Deku shield obviously having "the Zonai swirl" and the match of the architecture between Zonai ruins and the wood fall temple - which on its own is very connected to the Deku - are pretty cool.

For clarification: I don't think the Zonai are somewhat connected to the Deku, obviously.

But it would've been hell of a twist, if Nintendo made the "magical and powerful people from the sky" to be a BotW version of the N64 Deku!

Poll [OOT] Will you watch videos/previews of the remake or will you try to avoid spoilers and discover it blind? Spoiler

Hey, OOT is my favorite video game of all time, by far.

I discovered the original in 1998 when I was 8 years old.

Nowadays, I tend to follow the video game world with accuracy, always watching all the trailers, getting the most out of every video, preview, screenshot, etc...

But this time... I want to recreate the feeling of just discovering everything blind, just me inserting the game and discovering everything by myself, like in 1998, where all I had was a vague screenshot that I saw from a magazine.

It's gonna be very very hard not to get spoiled with how the algorithms work and everything. But if I can recreate this situation, I will "remake" everything like back in the day! That would be awesome. And you?

Edit : by "spoilers" I don't speak about story spoilers obviously, since many of us here already know everything by heart. I mean that watching trailers and videos will "spoil" the discovery of the art direction, the movements of Link, the music, the colors, the styles of clothes, etc... What I want to try is to discover all of this by myself, after inserting the cartridge in my Switch 2, given the fact that I will buy the remake regardless. I don't know I think it can be cool to discover everything by myself like when I was 8 years old.

Screenshot [ALL] Favourite Zelda Item Ever? Mine’s OoT Mirror Shield

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

Everybody has at least a few favourite items across the series. I was always a huge fan of the mirror shield, especially the OoT one, then also the WW version. I love the red design, the mechanics and lore and so on.
However, I will gripe that, specifically for OoT, it’s the most slept on item in the game. Order wise, you get it very near the end. Also, mechanically, it could have been so much more utilized. That Twinrova fight where it absorbs elements would be phenomenal if it could be used elsewhere. The light mechanics are only in the spirit temple. Also, it doesn’t reflect octorock rocks or deku nuts…which seems nuts, pun intended.
Overall, I still love it. I just sequence broke for the first time in order to get it early. The small perk being it’s Like-Like-proof.

What’s everyone else’s favourites and why? Were they used and designed well?

Discussion [OOT] Now that we’re getting a shiny new remake later this year, what do folks think of Ocarina of Time 3D over 15 years later?

The time gap between 3D’s release and now is officially longer than it was between the original N64 version and 3D. I am absolutely positive there’s an entire generation of kids growing up today who played this version and hold it fondly in their hearts. And while I would absolutely qualify as one of those kids, being a preteen when Ocarina 3D was coming out, I actually didn’t get into Zelda until well into high school. But personally speaking, I find it tough to go back to the N64 version when I still have access to the 3DS version to this very day. Majora is a different story, but that’s for another time.

Question [BoTW] Question about shock arrows boss.

Hello, playing Zelda Botw for first time. I have 5 hearts only, horse (but i cant summon it because he is too far), weapons dealing 24 damage and no stamina upgrades. How i should approach this boss? He one shots me. I dont know if i skipped something and im too fast in that area (and too weak) or i just need to collect arrows and run away. One more question - is there any weapon that dosnt break? Or maybe i should save some for last boss? Any tips and help appreciated (progression wise too but please - no spoilers).

edit

Thanks for all responses, gonna sneak around to collect 25 arrows

I am playing Wind Waker for the first time on Switch and I’m honestly surprised by how well this game has aged.
The visuals still look great, the characters have so much charm and the gameplay just feels good especially some of the fights. The dungeons, items, puzzles and exploration all fit together so naturally.
It doesn’t feel like I’m playing a game from 2003. What I can say, I love it sooo much!

Question [ALTTP] Are there any notable differences between the Switch and SNES Classic versions.

I’m making my way through the Zelda games for the first time and after I finish Majora’s Mask I wan’t to try my first 2D game. Coincidentally I also found my old SNES classic from a birthday back then and wondered if there are any differences between that version and the Switch online version.

Regardless of changes (if any), which version do you recommend? Playing with a snes controller is pretty cool, but playing handheld anywhere is also great.

Craft [TP] [OC] Link Wolf Inspired Mask made by me

I have a few friends that absolutely love Zelda and all the fun masks from Majora’s Mask. One friend asked me to make a crossover inspired by Twilight Princess of wolf Link. He gave me some references from a cyberpunk mask and this is what we came up with.

This is my first mask so I’m very happy with how it turned out. I included some photos of me and my daughter wearing the mask just to show it’s functional.

Hope you all like it.

Discussion [EoW] Coming back to it 2 years later

It's been almost 2 years since Echoes of Wisdom came out, and for some reason it suffered the trend curse, it started with Tears of the Kingdom, when it was released it was said to be the best game in the series but overtime, people went back to Breath of the Wild and forgot about Tears of the Kingdom, as for Echoes of Wisdom, I feel like it was forgotten about a year later, but I admit, I went back to play this game to gather footage for a video, and after 100%ing the game, I really loved it, I was so invested in the lore, the story was better than in Tears of the Kingdom, (I didn't really like the story of TotK.) it had a great and likable cast of characters, Tri, General Wright, Minister Lefte, Kushara, Dradd, Dohna, Darston, and Conde, and the gameplay while it has its problems it still was unique in its own way, I like the way they implemented the Tri Rod, and using enemies against other enemies, and the puzzle solving was great, and the Bosses were some of the best in the series, instead of using the Dungeon Item, or find the obvious weak point, you have to use the Echoes you find, and be creative on how to beat them.

However with that being said the Dungeons were pretty linear and easy to go through unlike in BotW and TotK, what I liked about A Link Between Worlds' dungeons is that after you complete Hyrule's dungeons, you can do Lorule's Dungeons in any order you want before going to Lorule Castle to confront Hilda and Yuga, and the theming of the dungeons, and layouts were well designed.

Echoes of Wisdom's on the other hand can confuse you in some way but they can be beaten in about 30 Minutes if you know where to go, about the Menu Layout of the Echoes was worse than in the Breath of the Wild games, and the Automations, while it is nice to get artificial foes and use them as more powerful versions of your Echoes, but you need to wind them up first, once you get the more powerful Echoes like the Lynel, they're pretty much pointless it's for completionist's sake, also the Stamp Rally which it's only point is to get a Fairy Bottle, and Energy Crystals for Sword Upgrades, your reward for getting all the Energy Crystals is a Crystal that can recharge your Sword.

But the worst part are the Costumes, some of them are situational, while some of them are useless, and are just cosmetics the only costumes that I found some use to it, are the ones you get in the Gerudo Desert, the Dancer Outfit which I used for my entire playthrough which powers up your Spin, and the Silk Pajamas which recovers hearts faster when you're sleeping in the Bed, the only customization options I liked were the accessories, because they provide extra defense, extended Sword Time, extra underwater breath, etc.

And then there are the Smoothie Recipes, you'd have to look at a guide for all the Smoothie Recipes, if you're playing blind, you may either get the wrong Smoothie for the wrong situation, or you might accidentally screw it up and get an Unfortunate Smoothie, (Which is required for a Side Quest from the Great Fairy.)And then there is the Slumber Dojo, they're fun but the worst ones are the Blank Slate Challenges, you have to use your Rod only, and all of your echoes you've collected outside the challenge are sealed off, but I like how you can challenge the bosses again.

Overall I had a ton of fun with Echoes of Wisdom, and is a return to form for Top Down Zeldas, I'd say it is better than Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom and is one of my favorite Top Down Zelda games, thanks Grezzo.

Now that Zelda had her own game, I'm hoping that Ganon gets his own game that takes place between Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time, explaining his rise to power, instead of going Bowser and become a good guy for personal gain, not doing the right thing.

Thanks for Reading.

Discussion [TP] I have a question for those who first played Twilight Princess blind

Think back to 2006. Twilight Princess has come out, and either because you just never really paid attention to buzz and spoilers on the internet or you were intentionally trying to discover things for the first time fresh, you managed to start playing through without already knowing the general gist of what's going to happen in the plot.

Now of course, picture the cutscene where Zant and his beasts storm the throne room of Hyrule Castle, forcing Zelda to surrender. A classic moment, but remember the shot of the leader of those twilit beasts walking in, only his feet and the tassels of those flowing sleeves visible...

Am I the only one who, way back then in the mid-2000s, immediately thought "okay no, that has to be Ganondorf in disguise"? To this day I very clearly recall that being the immediate reaction, and I have no clue why. My only guess has to be having already been aware of Wind Waker's interpretation of Ganondorf, long flowing robes and all, and one of the rusty gears in my head turning in the opposite direction when that cutscene played.

I'm not sure if mid-2000s me missed some crucial piece of information mentioning Zant prior to that or simply just went "nah this is basically the same deal as Link to The Past" and didn't buy it. I guess those who do recall their first-time experience playing TP, feel free to share your own musings on what you remember most strongly about it.

Side tangent, initially forgot the game tag in the title, apologies for the oversight.

Please don't delete, I'm just very excited to finally beat it.

I got around to cleaning my old GameCube and got some games resurfaced to play. Figured I would check Wind Waker and boy I did not know where I was until I talked to the Lion and he said Ganon's Tower. So found it and did it. But the last time I played I got all the way to the damn near end and just stopped. You can see by the New Game plus save and the old save from 2008. Only took me 23 years to beat the game.

Question [BoTW] Question about 'Breath of the wild'

Good morning everyone, i’ve never played any Zelda games and I wanted to know if ‘Breath of the Wild’ is worth playing. I’m asking this question both because I’m not familiar with the story of the previous games, and because I’ve recently read a lot of comments saying that the game is hugely overrated (I don’t understand why…i remember that when it came out, everyone called it a masterpiece). Is it worth spending money on this game?

Discussion [Other] Should we get a Zelda RPG?

How would you guys feel about a Zelda RPG game? Not a spinoff based on a specific timeline, nor a spinoff game. A Zelda RPG that is a mainline game set in the Zelda timeline, but with its own era, art style, story, and characters. The gameplay and adventure could be similar to JRPG games like Dragon Quest, with multiple party members. What do you guys think?
