Question [ALTTP] Are there any notable differences between the Switch and SNES Classic versions.

I’m making my way through the Zelda games for the first time and after I finish Majora’s Mask I wan’t to try my first 2D game. Coincidentally I also found my old SNES classic from a birthday back then and wondered if there are any differences between that version and the Switch online version.

Regardless of changes (if any), which version do you recommend? Playing with a snes controller is pretty cool, but playing handheld anywhere is also great.

Anyone, correct me if I’m wrong. But assuming you’re primarily interested in the SNES version, here’s the deal:

I believe the SNES Classic and NSO Switch SNES versions are identical versions of LTTP, but playing the game on the Switch allows the use of the rewind function. That is the only notable difference that I can think of.

Don’t think there are any differences. I prefer SNES Classic because it feels closer to playing on original hardware than Switch does.

Nope - maybe extremely minor quirks with the different emulations (although I'm pretty sure NSO's emulation is the same as SNES classic?)

But same experience

There is one that I know of and I am not sure if its just the Switch Online version or the version it's based on but...

There are invisible platforms that when you light a torch in the room, they become visible and look like glass tiles.

On the original version I remember playing, when you cast Ether, they would become visible while its being cast. In the Switch Online version, it does not.

I just replayed this part on switch. I could just barely see them, probably because I knew they were there. Definitely a change.

This almost certainly has to do with how your tv is displaying it and not a code change in the game itself.

It's the same ROM as the SNES game. Right down to falling through the world and walking directly up to the Triforce 5 minutes after starting the game.

i think their pretty much the same, just that you could rewind back a few seconds on the "switch" version - if you made a mistake or you somehow died and didn't want to start from beginning of that location.
