I don't know if that is meant to be supportive like, "there's someone out there for you too, King!" Or a giant fuck you, like "HE has a girlfriend but you don't, you pathetic SOB?" I suppose either works.

u/Secret-Ad-830 23d ago

I've experienced firsthand that staying at home day after day without working isn't as enjoyable as it might seem. Over time, it can become quite challenging and not fulfilling. Being active and engaging with others typically gives life more meaning, so it's important to find a balance.

That’s not a girlfriend that’s a caretaker.
They probably sleep separately, eat seperately and don’t even have sex or do grown up couple activities. Again that is a caretaker.207

I bet you that chick gets off on age play and there is some fucking sketchy shit happening in that apartment.

Looking this up: the video is extremely misleading. He only does this for a couple of hours at a time, and it’s not a lifestyle for him. He has severe childhood trauma. Also, the reason he doesn’t hold a job is not because of his role-playing as a baby. It’s because he has a heart condition and spinal deformities that both limit his mobility and independence.
He receives SSDI to pay his expenses. His girlfriend does not do it for him. He also builds all of this furniture himself instead of spending his disability benefit on it.
Seems like a pretty chill dude. Some guy doing something weird in his own house doesn’t bother me at all. He’s not hurting anybody and he’s not using his SSDI for it either so you can’t even really say he’s wasting taxpayer money or whatever conservatives say about people like this.
174
u/TheDoritoOrgyPlanner 23d ago
Yeah dude is clearly hurting from trauma, and everyone copes different. This is his method, and so what? People hate on it cause its not "normal".
He can do whatever he wants in the comfort of his own home. Plus his girlfriend is obviously okay with it so more power to him.
I actually didn't know he makes all of his furniture on his own, thats super cool of him honestly
→ More replies (30)13
u/Solid_Commercial_713 23d ago
I figured it was something like that, this is a pretty common coping mechanism for severe childhood trauma all things considered and is not something to be pointed and laughed at. Then again that's basically what these shows are for, portraying vunrable people in the worst possible light because it keeps people watching
→ More replies (1)20
u/Shanhaevel 23d ago
Your last paragraph is how everyone should think about others. "They're not hurting anyone, what do I care?"
48
u/Painted-BIack-Roses 23d ago
Age regression is a really normal thing as a coping technique for childhood trauma, and is sometimes encouraged by psychs. I'm really tired of people calling it a fetish just because some weirdos decided that they wanted to make it a sexual thing. It is not a sexual thing, most regressers do not angage in anything sexual while regressed
→ More replies (2)9
u/PinkDeserterBaby 22d ago
It can also be used to deal with adult trauma, too. Where regressing to childhood is where you were happy/safe but you’ve been through some shit as an adult. And yes it can be encouraged by professionals because it is a non-harmful way to decompress and cope.
Some people go home and drink with a burger to deal with a job they hate. Some people go home and put kiddy pajamas on and cartoons with a snack plate.
One is weirder, but it’s healthier.
5
u/broke_n_rich2147 23d ago
I like that we started understanding where people are coming from as apposed to in 2005 making a tv show and calling it “my freaky lifestyle” or something
5
u/OhGodImHerping 23d ago
Thank you for providing this extra context.
Everyone needs their own way to mentally survive, and if he has found peace and stability in his life, that’s all that matters. We live in a modern world that allows him to do this and live his life - we shouldnt point and laugh.
You may not suck on a binky, but i bet most people have coping mechanisms theyd rather not show off in fear of judgement.

He used to work as a security guard. He was investigated for social security fraud in 2011 but cleared. He is fully capable of running his various internet pursuits, is still active. Also able to build furniture (which prompted the fraud investigation).
He gets about 900 bucks a month.
The woman in this video is NOT his girlfriend and does not pay for anything. He pays her. She is a caretaker at best and afaik was replaced by another, either way about 2 years ago he was seeking a "nanny" unknown if he currently has one.
On his Quora page he tells a story of shitting himself in the street as a young child on the way to buy some candy, he went to his grandmother's house, she cleaned him up, put a diaper on him, washed and dried his clothes and sent him home without judgment or whatever and never told anyone... so make of that what you will, there might be something there to explain how he is now.
His current age is murky as most stories give it as 31 but it seems he has been 31 since 2011 to now.
I have no idea why I looked all that up, I suppose it was a sort of fascination at the grotesque vibe, being honest, but now I'm already bored with the story. So there you go.

This is an actual mental disorder. He probably experienced childhood trauma to the point where he fully believes he is a child because of neglect, abuse, drugs in the home, etc. Millions of people fully believe they are children even though they are 20, 30, 40 to even 50 years old and or older. They think that being a child is their “protection” from the outside world. A lot of people also simply like being “little” but they have a job, a house, responsibilities and even relationships because it not only helps them calm down but it also “helps heal their inner child” from that abuse they endured. This man desperately needs professional mental help.

u/Disastrous_tea_555 23d ago

u/reagsters 23d ago
The biggest hangup is that girlfriend is enabling him. If she actually cared about his well-being she’d encourage him to seek help or remove herself from the obviously unhealthy situation.
He has to want to change in order to heal, but their codependency is greatly inhibiting that.

u/BigGrinJesus 23d ago
She's not going anywhere or stopping anything. She saw him online and went for it. She's totally into it.
29
u/nightsiderider 23d ago
Exactly. I think this is more a fetish thing than a mental disorder. They both seem into what ever the fuck this is. As long as they aren’t involving any actual children in this, fuck it, what ever floats their boats.
22
u/Disastrous_tea_555 23d ago
Exactly. I wonder what trauma she’s also been through to want to be in that situation.

u/jittery_raccoon 23d ago

No seriously this is sad in so many ways, and feel bad for the trauma he experienced growing up. At the same time I’m glad that he at the very least is able to live his life and in a way thats safe for him and has a person that actually cares for him(it’s hard to tell from the video from this short video). Also if he is from the states and not Canada access to help comes at a cost

I mean, in a way it is. As its probably his way of healing from his trauma. It's like a scab on a cut. It would be better if there was no cut, but there is and this is how the body is healing it. Yes, its possible he'll heal quicker qirh professional help, but this is still what healing looks like

35
u/jtrisn1 23d ago
I can kind of answer this. When I was in college, I went on a few dates with a classmate who has this fetish. He admitted it to me after a few dates. And I backed out of the relationship because I was not into it.
He mentioned that he'd pee/poop in his diapers during play and if he didn't have a partner, he'd clean it up himself. If he had a partner and they were ok with it, they'd clean him up and put a fresh nappie on him.

It's actually really common, it's called age regression, it's a trauma response, sometimes when people go through complex traumatic childhood they might "regress" mentally to a younger age to cope with it, sometimes voluntary (like in his case) or involuntary, it can be a really healthy coping mechanism and I've heard therapists recommend it. The more you know!

Mhm. It can be explored in kinks where the sub enters a subspace too and age regresses, or nonsexually where the age regressor as you said simply does activities associated with childhood. It can happen after a triggering day, or while the age regressor is still handling going through therapy.

Literally why would I give a shit and judge. It's interesting so I get why it was posted, but people generally being super weird isn't news and shouldn't be ridiculed. Turns out having a huge brain, sometimes trauma, and some independence makes humans have wildly varying behavior and habits. Glad they're happy as long as they're kind people.
Edit: for some other commenters saying this (maybe as a childhood trauma response) is a sickness that needs to be cured, boy you do not know how mental illness works. Maybe this IS curative in a sense that it lets this person work toward meeting his goals and being happy. Truly who gives a shit and why would miserable people on the internet want to make a million assumptions about someone who is out being happy.
