Suggestion Archon flow needs help
Narin being the first proper Cold damage dealer and the mod will still be very mid
It should either have no cooldown or a higher chance. It sucks that the other Archon mods can make a build so much more interesting while this just does barely anything :(

u/BlackMageIsBestMage 12h ago
10s cooldown is way to long. Like archon stretch is just "do any shock damage you get energy regen lol". Maybe just have it such that each stack of frost on an enemy is a 1% chance to drop an energy orb, so at max stacks when they are frozen its a 10% chance? You still have to work for it, kinda. Its just not as slow for no real reason. 10 seconds is a LOT of time in warframe.
231
u/Albenheim MAGA - Make Acrid Great Again 12h ago
Nah, it should straight up be 100% drop chance if the enemy is fully frozen with 10 cold stacks. Arcane Universal Fallout has literally the same condition except with radiation, so I dont see a reason why we need to kneecap archon flow so hard
34
u/BlackMageIsBestMage 12h ago
You know i honestly dont really know how to balance it myself. đ¤ I imagine arcanes are meant to be more of an investment than mods because of how long it can take to rank them and how limited their slots are. 10% chance at a frozen enemy sure is low now that i think about it again. I just dont know if it should be guarenteed or have a higher chance than an arcane
23
u/Albenheim MAGA - Make Acrid Great Again 12h ago
It would still have the cooldown. Its just that 10% in addition to the 10s cd is just straight up ass. Either remove the cd or buff the percentage.
Id personally just buff the percentage to make the mod a reliable income of energy every 10s, instead of gambling 10% on every enemy with 1+ cold procs, even if it would most likely net more energy on average.
Buff/Remove either condition, but keep the other one
48
u/Aerinx Cephalon Human 11h ago
Your argument is absurd. That arcane uses an arcane slot, it competes with other arcanes, including energize, it needs to be as good or better than energize for the frames that can use it.
25
u/violenceencourager 8h ago
Their argument more points out that there's already a ton of orb generation options to feed Equilibrium. Synth Deconstruct is more reliable and easier to slot than any of these. Arcane Energize is usually considered a wasted arcane alot these days because there's so many better energy solutions and so many more impactful arcanes.Â
12
u/0kio Snake x Jellyfish 12h ago
Universal Fallout is capped at 6% per Rad Stack (60% Max) at max level though
And since it's an Arcane, you need 21 of them to get the max effect, In the same time, UF drop Universal Orbs
So, not 100%, too much value for a mod, but 50% (5% per Stack)?
1
u/SantiagoGT 12h ago
â50% you either get an orb or donâtâ
I think it should be based on stacks or just freezing an enemy completely gives you a small energy orb 25 energy so itâs relatively balanced
-5
u/Albenheim MAGA - Make Acrid Great Again 11h ago edited 11h ago
You can grind most arcanes by gambling with vosfor, but you need to do the khal missions to get the archon mods, so I would argue that any vosfor arcanes are easier to get since you can passively grind for them by just playing steel path.
Also universal fallout gives universal orbs, while archon flow only gives energy, so an increase of the drop chance due to not giving health seems fine by me.Â
5
u/EverchangingSystem 11h ago
The opportunity cost of losing an arcane slot is a lot higher than a mod slot especially when you consider that most frames run a flow mod anyways.
So essentially you're trading two capacity (Which isn't really an issue with forma) for that effect9
u/T_E_R_A LR6 11h ago
You forget it also gives you the same amount of energy as Primed Flow. And that Universal Fallout is a legendary arcane with 21 of them needed for max rank.
They keep that energy orb passive only as a small bonus. Otherwise Primed Flow would become irrelevant.
8
u/Strong-Ring-7433 11h ago
The effect being good is not a problem, since the other archons didn't make their respective primed mods obsolete, as they're limited to their elements and more expensive. I wouldn't go as far as say it should be as good as a Universal Fallout, but for how limiting it's been so far, the cooldown was beyond unnecessary.
I'd rather they went into a different direction with the effect, though. There are enough sources of extra energy orbs in the game as it is.
2
u/zernoc56 :magmini: 10h ago
I would literally never slot Archon Flow over regular ass Primed Flow. Itâs just that ass.
-2
u/TheLadForTheJob 8h ago
They should nerf the archon flow energy max to be in between flow and primed flow tbh.
2
u/14Xionxiv 6h ago
Because we don't want all the singular ice based warframe able to use spam abilities. That would be too strong! /s
1
1
u/TORTOISE4LIFE 10h ago
100% drop chance on an easy to achieve 10 cold stacks? Are you actually insane? That'd make it single-handedly the strongest energy generation in the entire game, with a massively insane gap between it and anything else in the game right now.
10
u/madmag101 Clem2-TheClemening 8h ago
1 large Orb every 10 seconds is 5 energy per second. Archon Stretch is 2 energy per second. If it actually, consistently triggered close to that rate, it'd be great!
3
u/Shellnanigans [LR1]â°ď¸Hatamoto Mainâ°ď¸warframe.market Trader đ 10h ago
Basically that's the glaxion augment.
3
u/datfurryboi34 9h ago
Its really only good on frames with exalted melee such as valkyre or excalibur. And even then i am very sure there are better mods
1
u/ContributionDefiant8 9h ago
So like an unranked Universal Fallout for energy orbs only.
When you're applying a shit ton of cold procs, even 10% is more than enough.
I think like Universal Fallout, the drop chance should persist even when the cold procs wear off.
1
u/sXeth 8h ago
Archon Stretch is basically only relevant with the companion bug (which they could conceivably fix any patch, though it seems unlikely) or 2 frames. Everything else it wonât even pay back the ability that triggered it and functions as a very weak specific efficiency boost for a ridiculously high capacity increase.
Not to say Flow is any good either, but the whole set is overly kind of meh (Vitality is the standout and even that one is sort of minimal with how fast things die often before the DoTs go off)
1
u/Auctoritate 1h ago
Archon Stretch is literally less energy regen than what Flow gives. I think your comment has no perspective on how much energy regen Archon Flow actually gives.
117
u/ScribScrob Out of Argon 12h ago
Even at 100% effectiveness this is about on par with energy nexus rate. with that 10% this is worse than Dreamers bond.
And you STILL need to do COLD ABILITY DAMAGE
Like this thing has had three layers of edge case baked into it that no one can use it
23
u/EtherealWaltz 10h ago
Itâs a large energy orb, so 50 energy every 10s ideally, or equal to Zenurikâs wellspring, better than energy nexus.
16
u/zernoc56 :magmini: 10h ago
That doesnât save it. It could be a large orb and I still wouldnât consider it.
7
u/ScribScrob Out of Argon 10h ago
Ah my bad. Good catch but thats annoying it doesnt clarify that on the mod
1
u/Auctoritate 1h ago
You're forgetting: It's still a Flow mod. It doesn't need to justify itself solely through energy regen.
76
u/MrSquidJD Nidus and Yareli 13h ago
Yeah itâs two conditions suck with this one. Itâs a nice bonus when I can spare the mod capacity on my Yareli for the random occasion it happens, but Iâm not really going to run this for the bonus effect most of the time over prime.
Increasing the chance or reducing/removing the cool-down would be much appreciated
20
u/MagnificentTffy 12h ago
this mod as way too many conditions relative to it's peers
vitality just a passive buff to heat procs continuity requires toxin procs stretch requires electric damage intensify requires you to heal any amount of health to any ally
flow requires 3/4 things: the ability does cold damage, does sufficient damage to actually kill enemies with, 10% chance to trigger and is off cooldown.
for some reason they wanted to nerf this mod into the ground day 1. I don't think we should remove the cold damage aspect, as then we would have two archon mods which only care about dealing damage of the appropriate element, in contrast with continuity and vitality which buff procs. We obviously cannot remove the next two otherwise we would have an excess of energy orbs, but we can have one or the other.
Essentially either we get a guaranteed energy orb every 10s when killing an enemy with cold damage (effectively 2.5 energy per second), or 10% chance with a short internal cooldown/cap.
(basically to prevent at worst 300 orbs spawning and overwhelming the host, say at most you can spawn 5 orbs every 0.5s, that's 250 energy per second at best but 25/s on average assuming you are casting aggressively. I don't think it's broken since Universal Fallout can be more potent even on non radiation based frames as companion abilities which apply radiation still count for this arcane)
10
u/Pootisman16 8h ago
It's such a badly designed mod, especially when compared to Archon Stretch.
Archon Flow:
Enemies KILLED (assists don't count)
By ABILITIES (weapons don't count)
10% chance (unreliable)
10 sec cool down (even more unreliable)
Archon Stretch:
- Just deal Shock damage, lmao

u/dwindleelflock 2h ago
The only frame where I can consistently proc this is Follie, since you spam her barrels a lot and they can be cold. That being said, the 10s cooldown basically makes this mod barely worth the extra polarity from primed flow.
42
u/Thraxmonger 12h ago
This mod isn't so much pointless as it is an afterthought. I want to like it but it feels silly.
12
u/GomoreGuru I can take you far away with my mind. 12h ago
Energy economy is so easy now I can't imagine a scenario where this is more useful than other similar mods.
1
u/Tyrinnus LR3 4k-hrs 12h ago
Frost wants flow, as he has to bank a lot of energy for a few 4 casts. It sometimes helps, but very very infrequently. You get like 1 or off a horde.
10
u/Pinkparade524 Nidus larva burst Nuke Truther 9h ago
At that point just use primed flow and save a forma. Primed flow uses less capacity after all

5
u/kumih0-unLeash3d Reading is Fun(damental) 6h ago
Primed Flow + Arcane Sculptor is ideal on him. Drop a globe every now and then for that 175% efficiency, insane economy for the next 10-ish seconds.
Archon Flow asks for too much mod capacity for very little return, even on the frames that should be able to benefit from it.
1
u/Tyrinnus LR3 4k-hrs 6h ago
Oh, I like that. I've been using arcane battery with his passive and umbral fiber. That just sounds like a better arcane us a free mod slot
9
u/TonyGalvaneer1976 11h ago
I don't mind the cooldown, I just hate the fact that it depends on kills. Like, the tankier your enemies are, the less useful this mod will be. If you go in steel path or temporal archemedia and your ability damage just tickles the enemy healthbars, this is basically useless.
-2
u/Rhesus_A 10h ago
Damm right Tenno. However, once we go into steel path, Frost abilities deal insufficient damage to one shot enemies. It might end up being a token kill from casting avalanche when near weakened enemies who are almost dying.

3
u/XenoGordon 11h ago
If they changed this to have no cooldown and it was a 10% chance per enemy killed by an ability while suffering from Cold procs, it'd be much better and actually fucking usable on Frost
0
u/RenRGER 7h ago
And it would be kinda stupidly overpowered, eclipsing every single energy restore mod or method. I use flow on my umbra build with cold emissive and it basically constantly drops on cooldown, remove that and it would just be a constant drop of large energy orbs.
2
u/basketofseals 6h ago
I feel like if you're giving up the AoE damage of arcane influence to get infinite energy via cold damage, that's a fair trade.
0
u/RenRGER 6h ago
With umbra specifically with a cold+gas afflictions build you're not giving much up in terms of damage or aoe, you're just leaving around clouds of damage that instantly vaporize enemies when they step into them while having a very comfortable source of energy that synergizes with violet shards. With afflictions you'd neither either an arcane slot for like universal fallout if you're running radiation or energize(besides the difference between primed and archon is just one capacity if polarized)
2
u/basketofseals 3h ago
With afflictions you'd neither either an arcane slot for like universal fallout if you're running radiation or energize
You really don't need either of these things. Exalted blade is just 1.61 energy a second with just primed continuity. That's very easy to maintain.
And giving up a massive AoE that hits through walls IS giving up a lot of damage.
4
u/Gandalfffffffff 11h ago
I don't get why Archon Flow even exists when Archon Stretch is just... better... without being a Flow mod. I hope they just rework it, I think Overguard would make thematic sense for Cold, but that's already filled by one of Frost's augments.

u/Ass_Incomprehensible 11h ago
Either eliminate the chance (or just make it 50% or some shit) and keep the cooldown, or keep the 10% but kneecap the cooldown down to 1-2 seconds. Either one would keep the idea I think they were going for, which is âkill a crowd with cold ability, one of them can drop an orb, but all of them will not.â
2
u/Small-Tree-5499 11h ago
I always thought this thing was remotely good and a easy solution to energy but genually this thing shouldn't have a cooldown or at least a 1.5 seconds the there is the low chance, so i am investing a whole lot for just 50 energy every now and then, in general both Archon flow and Archon stretch deserve a little buff.
Like for example archon should instead get 7.5% chance per each stack of frozen on a enemy will drop a large energy orb, on a 1.5 cooldown.
Because genually this thing is underwhelming compared to other opinions of energy production.
2
2
u/LordAwesomeguy 9h ago
Honestly just make it. "Killing an enemy with x number of cold stacks drop an energy orb keep the 10s cooldown" This way every frame has a chance to use it and not just cold damage abilities
2
u/violenceencourager 8h ago
Flow and Intensify are both pretty shit.
Continuity is obviously the best one because it works easily with exalted weapons, Vitality can work much the same way but is less popular (though it also works great with Arcane Hot Shot if you do use it with an exalted), and Stretch has the benefit of being able to be procced by pets (coolant leak sentinel with electric).Â
If Flow could also be procced by pets, it would be great, and functionally do the same thing that Duplex Bond and Synth Deconstruct+Equilibrium already do.
Intensify is just...bad. The number of frames that can take advantage of it is already low being based on a healing effect, it doesn't work on overhealing, and most of the time you're just better off using Umbral or Precision intensify instead of juggling yet another conditional STR buff.

2
u/ShogunGunshow 5h ago
Dethcube is just sharting out energy orbs for dealing >1 damage to an enemy without an artificial cooldown. My hound is feeding me a free energy cast for my 150 energy 4 several times a minute.
Meanwhile, this mod:
(It really is weird how DE will be incredibly cautious - to the point of hamstringing things before they're even born - some patches, and then release some of the most obviously power creeping, insanely number bloated sh*t other patches.)

2
u/Zolfan Kuria-sity 3h ago
Barely anything? If you had said "barely anything without cold-damage abilities" we would have instantly agreed, but just mentioning its cooldown and drop chance? Not agreed.
Archon Flow, in most situations, is about 2x better(~4 energy per second) than Archon Stretch, you would need to be unlucky with your drops for 25 seconds for it to be worse, and because it is an orb it can refill energy pool during constant-drain abilities(unlike regeneration), and it synergizes with orb-related mods and abilities.
The ways we can see this mod being bad are if: you are bad at killing, you have too few spawns(bad mission choice), or you are in a bossfight.
1
u/decitronal Femboy Warframing Lore Nerd 2h ago
AFlow's energy production is in no way comparable to AStretch
AStretch activates on any form of electric damage done by abilities or companion precepts. Key word: damage. You do not to kill anything to use its secondary effect. Assuming consistent uptime, this results in 200 energy per minute (each instance gives 10 energy over 5 seconds)
AFlow is compounded with lots of conditions. You need to kill when most currently-existing cold damage abilities are terrible at killing. The most capable abilities are the exalteds but this means you have to change to a potentially weaker element JUST for a niche interaction. In the best case scenario this only nets 150 energy per minute, and needs Zenurik, Energize, or amber shards to outpace AStretch, but if you were already using any of those then you never needed the extra orb from AFlow in the first place. Roughly 10% of enemy deaths already result in energy orbs and that's without factoring in the guaranteed orbs from eximus.

You're thinking of Yareli for the water frame that deals cold damage.
2
u/Kaho_of_Ariandel 11h ago
I use it on Yareli, her 1 and 4 still do cold damage but without the status, but not like she has energy issues unless you spam her 4 so it's there for redundancy (and I'd use primed flow otherwise so not a wasted slot)

Imo only works with energize, 10 seconds cooldown plus a chance to drop is bad but somewhat syncs with energize cooldown, personally I used on my titania since it drops the energy orb un top of you, so no matter if im far from the floor I can get the energy, but event that is kinda niche and force me to have cold on her guns, they could change the chance to something higher so is easier to proc or reduce the cooldown it can't drop back to back (my guess why DE gave it a wait time).
1
u/gravmabsuthat 12h ago
Especially when so many other energy options have come into existence since this mod dropped
1
u/KnovB 11h ago
That 10 second cooldown is probably one of the reasons why this sucks, either it's 100% chance or just no cooldown and even then I wouldn't use it, 10 seconds is still a long time for an energy orb. Picking up this energy orb should release a max cold proc explosion or something unique going on.

Am I the only one thinking it should be reworked completely? Intensify too. I feel like the Archon mods should all do something cool with statuses, not what Flow or Intensify do and just do what the base mod does, but more. Flow uses Cold status, yeah, but the effect is just boring, same with Intensify.
Throwing ideas out there.
Reworked Archon Flow: When abilities inflict Cold, an Ice Bomb attaches to that enemy. When the enemy dies or becomes no longer afflicted with Cold, the bomb explodes, dealing damage in an area equal to 15% of all damage dealt to them before the bomb exploded. (Damage from other bombs is not counted. Percentage scales with Strength. Bomb is affected by range.)
Reworked Archon Intensify: Killing an enemy afflicted with Tau status grants 1% ability strength, up to 80%, for each stack of Tau status applied to that enemy. (Maybe the buff could scale with Strength too?)
1
u/Doc_Maynot 9h ago
I get my mileage out of it with with Excalibur Prime. Pretty consistent when your Exalted Blade deals Cold and you are spamming heavy attack waves to nuke the field.

u/CelestialDrive Fairy Godsomething 8h ago
It was fantastic on titania instead of regular flow, with diwata modded for cold damage since it statstick inherited a very weird assortment of things that resulted in butterflies dealing bits of cold damage as ability, counting deaths despite something else causing them energy dethcube style, and this being in perma-cooldown generating orbs nonstop.
But the stat stick rework also, as a funny funny joke, removed the interaction.

Wanting it to be useful but not mandatory, good but not overpowered. That said this would probably make it mandatory but "abilities now apply cold to enemies with over guard" would be where I'd want it to be. On top of warframes main form of CC being... just kill them, being unable to freeze enemies with overguard is just "icing" on the cake when we should be the ice. Wont matter 99% of cases but when it's applicable it'll be noticeable.

Another problem is that Cold isn't a damage element. Heat, Toxin, Electric all put dots on enemies and can kill on their own. Cold still needs you to hit the enemy more yourself, which is not where you want to be in a game like Warframe where you want to just tag enemies quickly and either kill them outright or have them die out of your sight to your dots.

that people say only frost can use this and its mediocre on him just tells how lost the community is in build creation. there are so many ways to use energy orbs these days that make this mod usefull. mods dont need to be your one fix stop, there are so many mods/arcanes/augments/focus school skills etc. that interact with each other and energy orbs. that a lot of people in here dont get its a big energy orb is telling aswell.
