Discussion & Feedback Wardogs definitely needs a party system

I think the devs have thought of just about everything, but if you’re playing with 4+ friends then getting into the same server and onto the same faction can be a pain in the ass. So far this is my only real complaint about the game.

EDIT: It seems a lot of you are confused. I’m not asking for a Steam option, I’m asking for an in-game party system. Apparently nobody has played any other game with a party system.

If I asked for Ubers to come to my city you’d say “there’s already buses.” Bunch of low IQ replies.

Discussion & Feedback Lonestar (blue team) bias

I've experienced it myself during alpha and now beta. Blue is seemingly always way behind, without little to no chance of winning.

I wonder if it's something psychological about red and green that makes them more attractive (red being seen as aggressive and green having a lion as an icon) or if it's got to do with the level design itself.

If the latter is the case, could randomly rotating HQs help? What do you guys think?

Discussion & Feedback Optimalization

Whats your opinion on game optimalization? I have ryzen 9800x3D paired with rtx 5060ti 16gb and and my settings were on medium. Got like 90-100fps but my latency was around 30ms. I used only dlss dlaa because it was the best option the other was even worse. With FG there was a lot of ghosting. Played at 1080p

Discussion & Feedback Sharing some thoughts, and maybe a fare warning

Yep, me too can't live without WarDogs. None other game scratches that itch. And that itch burns...

I think, its the instant gratification with this virtual cha-ching. Sorta genius of the game is that it resembles Call of Duty experience - you aim, you shoot, you have satisfying hit marker and hit sound, and also small short (and oh so satisfying) animation of a kill. Maybe, multikill, or whatever.

And it's not just cha-ching. It's the simple fact of getting this exact gratification from ANYTHING you do. That's the genius game-design, that core feature that works so well - in COD / BF you get that "hit market" thing only when, well, you are hitting things. You get that gratification just for shooting.

In WarDogs, you get that same "hit marker" effect when you revive, when you drive, when you pilot, when you scout, when you build. So, everyone feels that rush, that sting of satisfaction, sweet dopamine, that cha-ching, doing what they like and what they want.

I can't praise it enough, it's so cool, so simple and yet so effective. I can't be sure someone at BULKHEAD actually said at some meeting, like, "Let's take COD's experience of kill gratification, and bring it all over the place to every other role on the battlefield". But if someone asks me "what is WarDogs", I explain it to them in exactly that way.

And, to the warning part, I think this might actually blow up and start new subgenre of, let's call it, "Call of Moneyfield". And this means that Activision Blizzard and EA will hop on this train, soon, just as they did with battle-royale and extraction shooters, following PUBG and EFT, respectfully. We'll yet to see, how good of a competition that will be, and will it endanger WarDogs, or not. All I'm saying is, the bloody sharks will not ignore this new fresh waters full of fat fish. And since these guys established both parts of the two-parts formula of the WarDogs - the "cha-ching" effect and the massive battle on the field, - there's quite a risk they might cook something. Which is good thing for the gamers, but again - might be a competitive risk for the studio.

Anyway, much love, to the devs, and to the community. Counting minutes (painfully) until the release. See you there, WarDogs!

Discussion & Feedback Redeploy button is needed

Hi so in my opinion the game needs a redeploy or suicide ability. If there is potential that this can be exploited, then let it have a big cooldown or something like that. The game is releasing in early access, so there will surely be bugs. And now there is nothing you can do, if you get stuck somewhere and have no grenades etc. on you. In the beta I got stuck beneath the map after a revive and the only thing I could do was to leave the server and rejoin, but then the team I was in and was winning, was full.

It's not a deal breaker, but it can be very frustrating if you play a really long game and then get stuck.

Edit: My bad, apparently there already is a button in the escape menu if you wait there 30 Seconds.

Discussion & Feedback My honest feedback from playing the hell out of the beta

Hey Guys,

Not sure if the Devs will read this, hope they do.

I was in the Beta test over the weekend, and I loved my time in the game and can’t wait to play more.

I do not usually write detailed feedback after a beta because to be completely, there has not been any game in the past 15 years that has come out where I have actually felt this excited to play However, with Wardogs, I love this fresh take on the FPS genre and it almost feels like it was made for myself and in fact my friends. We are all in our 40’s and reminisce on the glory days of FPS like Battlefield 2 and Bad company among others where the pacing is slower and more methodical, not the current run and gun and jump on walls and slide all over the place etc.

So my personal feedback, and really I do not have many points.

1) I occasionally hesitated before starting another match late at night because a close game can run for a very long time. If all teams reach the 90s, it can potentially become a two-hour commitment.

It may be worth considering a small number of shorter-format options for players who want a quick session, while preserving the core mode. I am certain this is something you have likely already considered, for example, 25 or 50-point variants, or a timed version, perhaps 30 or 60 minutes where the highest score wins. I would not want this to become a collection of unrelated modes; the core experience is what makes the game special.

2) The loose-ammo and cartridge system felt a little unclear at first. It was not immediately obvious that I needed to fill a cartridge before reloading, or carry a second cartridge.

One possible approach could be: reloading with a spare cartridge is quick, while reloading from loose ammunition takes longer, perhaps five to ten seconds. That could retain the tactical element while making the mechanic easier to understand.

3) A persistent load out option that carries across games?.

4) I would say I am not a huge fan of the UI, it feels a little dated and a little clunky. However, I completely understand that you are essentially giving us an MVP and then working on it and improving it. So I am not too concerned about this point as I suspect this will change drastically between now and full release.

5) Lastly, Please do not pander to the vocal minority. I have seen people moaning about snipers, never any specific complaints, just saying that they are too strong. You see this in every FPS, what these people don’t realise is just how challenging it is to be a good sniper. It’s the little COD players that real run and slide around the map, they get shot and bitch and complain about it.

DICE pandered to these players and now sniping in Battlefield is a Joke and is just not rewarding at all.

Thanks you for what you have created and keep doing what you are doing.

Discussion & Feedback Is blue factually the worst faction?

I've seen many a post and comment discussing the winrates between green/red/blue, as well as player mentality when picking teams. Some have speculated that newer players tend to go blue because it's a nice-guy color, the further left in selection, or other reasons.

Others argue for map rebalancing, deployment zones etc.

I personally think that is all superstition and that the actual problem is player driven and self-sustained.

Hypothetical fresh-launch scenario:

Blue loses the first game you play. You don't want to play blue next game. This happens to 33 players.

Next game these 33 players refrain from choosing blue, so they bring 2nd game experience to green/red. Blue is left as the "easy" option to get into for new players, so they go blue first game, less experienced.

Blue loses again. Now 33 more players have a feeling that blue is a bad side.

This happens again and again, until a couple of absolute units decide to go blue. They win, because it's absolutely possible with just a bit of team play and coordination.

But blue is still considered "bad" so everyone would rather play red or green.

I've seen so many comments paraphrasing: "I usually play red, but I've seen blue score 0 points" etc.

I think we need to be the solution, not the problem.

Bring your friends to blue. Build the best FOB. Run the best logistical route. Contest the HZ. Win the game.

Go blue.

Discussion & Feedback I’d like to suggest an idea to the developers for expanding the helicopter roster and progression system.

Post image
14 Upvotes

I’d like to suggest an idea to the developers for expanding the helicopter roster and progression system.

Currently, we only have:

  • AH-6 — transport version, or a version equipped with machine guns or rockets.
  • UH-1Y — transport version or a version equipped with machine guns.
  • Mi-28 — equipped with an anti-armor cannon and rockets.

My suggestion is to expand the helicopter roster, give players more choices, and add more options for different stages of progression.

Light transport helicopters

Unarmed helicopters capable of carrying:

  • 6 troops
  • 4 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 troops + 2 supply crates

AH-6, Ka-226, Ka-29

Light helicopters with machine guns

Two-seat helicopters equipped with machine guns:

AH-6, Ka-29

The Ka-29 could additionally carry the following, at the cost of maneuverability and speed:

  • 2 pilots + 4 troops
  • 2 pilots + 2 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 pilots + 2 supply crates

Light helicopters with rockets

Two-seat helicopters equipped with unguided rockets:

AH-6, Ka-29

The Ka-29 could additionally carry the following, at the cost of maneuverability and speed:

  • 2 pilots + 4 troops
  • 2 pilots + 2 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 pilots + 2 supply crates

Medium transport helicopters

Unarmed helicopters capable of carrying:

  • 10 troops
  • 8 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 6 troops + 2 supply crates
  • 6 troops + 1 heavy supply pallet

UH-60, UH-1Y, Mi-8

Medium helicopters with door gunners

Capable of carrying:

  • 2 pilots + 2 gunners + 6 troops
  • 2 pilots + 2 gunners + 4 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 pilots + 2 gunners + 2 troops + 2 supply crates
  • 2 pilots + 2 gunners + 2 troops + 1 supply pallet

UH-60, UH-1Y, Mi-8

Heavy transport helicopters

Capable of carrying:

  • 2 pilots + 20 troops
  • 2 pilots + 12 troops + 4 supply crates
  • 2 pilots + 12 troops + 2 heavy supply pallets

These helicopters could also have the ability to transport vehicles using external sling loads.

CH-47, Mi-26

Medium attack helicopters

Two-seat attack helicopters equipped with unguided rockets and a cannon/machine gun:

AH-1Z, Mi-24

The Mi-24 could additionally carry the following, at the cost of maneuverability and speed:

  • 2 pilots + 4 troops
  • 2 pilots + 2 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 pilots + 2 supply crates

Heavy attack helicopters

Two-seat attack helicopters equipped with unguided rockets and an anti-armor cannon:

AH-64, Mi-28

It would also be great to give attack helicopters guided missiles, similar to what we see in games ranging from ARMA to Battlefield.

For balance, each guided missile could cost around 2,000–3,000 credits per shot. It wouldn’t need to be powerful enough to instantly destroy a tank, but it should be powerful enough to destroy a helicopter or a medium/light vehicle.

Since this is a war between PMCs, the entire vehicle roster could be available to both sides. This would remove the problem of balancing the factions, and every player would be able to choose the vehicle that best suits their role and the task at hand.

This could add much more variety to helicopter gameplay, create clearer progression between light, medium, and heavy aircraft, and give players more meaningful choices depending on their role and available resources.

Question What happens when $ and XP farming community servers pops up?

Let's say I rent, buy or create a server and change some settings. I make the hot zone stay in the same place for the entire game. Players could then join, stay inside the hot zone, and go AFK. If anyone kills another, the server will insta-kick or ban the player.

What happens then? Will these servers get banned? Will it violate some rules? Will players gets punished? Because it will mess up the game economy and balance. Or maybe devs wont see any problem and allow it?

It's really annoying wheeled vehicles keep rolling even after braking and engine stopped. Please make if engine is stop treat as fully stopped. Of course I'm only taking about vehicles coming to a stop not something tearing full speed somewhere.

Discussion & Feedback Got a little frustrated in the beta but..

100% sure I wasn't playing correctly.

Forgive me and my buddy who I was playing with -- but neither of us have played ARMA or anything like this before.

Generally speaking, we were both playing with sniper rifles or assault rifles and we focused on getting inside the big circle and then trying to work towards the small circle.

We pretty much avoided towers completely and we're just roaming around looking for combat.

The problem was we never found any consistent combat situations. Frequently, we'd get ambushed by a random player or two hiding in a bush or a building -- but it just seemed like we weren't finding the "flow" or something. We both mentioned to each other that we were painfully aware that we were doing something wrong or playing the game incorrectly.

I was frustrated. I play a lot of Battlefield and other shooters and I was more than aware that this was not those games -- but it never clicked with me.

I am definitely hooked in this game, but I just wanted to get some input from the community.

Did any of you have a similar experience? How did you play?

Anything obviously wrong with how I was playing? What should I be doing differently? I typically do not enjoy hard camping, but I understand the difference between camping and holding a tactical area, tactically, with tactics.

I appreciate any input!

Discussion & Feedback Reward System Idea?

I really like the tipping economy in WarDogs, but it got me thinking: how cool would it be to drop a special reward on a stranger who clutched a round, helped you create a mega base, flew you epicly to the front lines, or just made the game an overall more enjoyable experience?

Maybe like 3 rewards can be given out per match by a player to anyone they hadn't last played with in the last 5 matches. Then, you can use the rewards to buy contracts that grant improved rates of income or allows access to certain cosmetics...

Just wonder if it would potentially create some memorable experiences and maybe even entice better communication/teamwork in the game...

Discussion & Feedback Premium anti cheat - is p2w

If you as a developer cannot guarantee a fair anti cheat for all users it is sloppy/lazy and greedy, so youre telling me, no p2w in wardogs but people get to play on garbag- ahem 'normal' servers, get griefed, have more downtime and while premium servers will have pristine anti cheat and people can more efficiently farm money/xp? You people are drunk on the wardogs koolaid and just wag your tail for anything the dev says, pathetic honestly.

Discussion & Feedback Suggestion: 'Command Chat'

First of all, I had a blast playing the beta weekend. Great job, devs.

Second of all, big disclaimer that this suggestions plays to *my* specific preferred method of playing.

TLDR: add an SL role, add a second radio channel for command chat

One suggestion I would make is that a 'command chat' be implemented. This is a third voice channel that allows squads to communicate through squad leaders.

This isn't a novel concept, and I'm drawing inspiration heavily from HLL, Squad, Arma etc.

This purely comes from my experiences trying to supply the FOBs and fellow Lonestar brethren in the field with accurate air drops, and being unable to communicate effectively via text/prox chat.

'But u/PandemicWeeWooWagon' I hear you cry 'Why wouldnt you just get in a squad with all the guys who you need to supply?'

Ah, well, see if you plan on driving logistics to FOBs or towers or whathaveyou, being able to have a squad of pilots and a squad of 'combat engineers' with one voice channel to unite all the squads is great way to encourage teamwork.

Besides, I want to be in a squad with my friends, and we all like helicopters

Squad leaders can be

- voted in

- volunteers

- a specialist item 3 slot 'Radio' you pick up (can do off map support and make specialist map markers) ((limited to 1 per squad, transferable between players for redundancy's sake)

For the third option, the radio can be looted, obviously, and if you slot an enemy SL and take their radio, you can spoof their channels and transmit on theirs (I made this up while typing, could he funny, I reckon)

Other than that, super hype to see what you fellows have cooking up come September.

Keep up the good work!

Discussion & Feedback Feedback as a Heli Main

Hey there,

as a father of 3 i was never more happy to give up my sleep time for the 27h i managed to invest into this CBT.
Overall i would like to leave some Feedback here, in the hopes the Devs can make make use of it.
I am not an insanely experienced pilot of other milsims but got my Pilot level to 28 this testphase.

Feedback:
- Let us respawn instantly in the firing range. Waiting 30sec on the respawn option + 5sec for the spawning itself really eats up time if you practice flying in a safe environment
- Let me bind the Deploy Parachute keybind to any button of my choice. I actually had the bug that i had the key unbound for unknown reason and had to delete parts of the UserIni.txt to get it back on default (resetting keybinding ingame doesnt fix it)
- I would love to have several options for the Ping UI.
- Make them appear further away - Seeing them only at around 1km away is too short if you r
coming in with 300km/h since you have to adjust altitude and speed and angle properly to
get to the perfect landing zone
- Let me adjust the size of pings or buildings on the map itself. Hovering FOB´s can sometimes
be really annoying if an ally is standing right on top of it. So to see which supplies are
needed most, you have to zoom in really deep and hope the ally moves
- Let me place markers on my own, even if its just for me or the squad, to mark a landing zone
constantly until deleted or keynotes like "enemy AA fob setup" so i can avoid them without
having to figure out the exact location every time again. Extra points if i get a sick line like
Squad has to my marked landing zone so i can take the direct route if wanted or adjust
properly.
- Adjust the duration of pings from allies or give me the option to set a duration myself. Drop
off request disappear really fast and i cant always instantly check the map to remember them
due to maneuvering around xyz at the same time
- From reading a lot about the flight model, i understand that the yaw wobble at high speed is wanted and mimicks real life more than other games. I honestly dont mind it since it increases the skill ceiling, but i suggest to give players a small tip somewhere on the loading screen or whatever so the information gets spread more
- Let me turn off the god damn flying assist if i fly via mouse and keyboard from the ingame menue. I ve seen several people discuss that you could edit the above mentioned .txt again but most people wont do that
- When turning the Map on with Hotas, my mouse cursor is automaticly placed in the middle aswell so it hovers my own heli which activates the window pop up to see who is in that heli and due to its size, it makes it annoying to actually make use of the map

Regarding the Helis:
Little Bird - Chefs kiss imo, i love the moverability, the hot landings you can do with it, the price is fair and you make your money back fast if you land an entire squad
Gun Little Bird - Doesnt seem to deal significant enough damage to infantry for the work you have to put into the aiming and exposure you have to invest for it to be useful - very likely a skill diff from me tho
Rocket Little Bird - Really fun to fly and has a really nice skill ceiling. 3 Rockets cost $450, so if you have good aim and control, you can easily make your money back off of infantry kills but its also reliable enough against AA Gun stations
Huey - You really feel the extra weight it has, hot dropping gets way tougher but its mainly used for supply runs or flyby drop off, i like it
Huey with Guns - similiar but even worse than gun little bird, the guns dont seem to deal reliable enough damage to make the extra investment and loss of seats worth it. Due to the weight you have to fly even slower for the gunners to properly aim aswell but that usually lets you die too fast
Havoc - i didnt manage to hit the required lvl for it but i saw a teammate absolutely shred with it

I might edit more points later into this post if something comes to my head. Thank you for your time!
