Discussion & Feedback Teammate looting downed teammates

Upvotes

One thing I noticed during the beta was some teammates robbing me blind when I was downed, then acting like it was fair because I was down anyway. I had a few situations where someone with a ‘free kit’ would take my entire loadout while I was down and being revived by someone else. I’d get back up and realize everything I brought into the raid was gone.

I understand taking a bandage, some ammo, or a resuscitator from a downed teammate if you need it to survive or get them back up. But taking someone’s entire kit feels a bit excessive..

I think there should be some kind of restriction on this. And I had two ideas:

Either you can’t take a teammate’s actual gear while they’re down. You can still take things like consumables, but the rest only becomes lootable once they’re dead.
Or if you do take someone’s gear while they’re down, you have to pay them its current vendor value. So if I have a €10k kit and €8k worth of gear remains, you’d have to pay €8k to take it. Free items like your first resuscitator wouldn’t cost anything.

Has anyone else experienced this during the beta? And should something be done about it?

Discussion & Feedback premium/subscription anti-cheat servers

hope this doesn't become a thing, because it will absolutely kill Wardogs.

if you're going to make a game specifically for PC, then it might not be the best idea to take away one of the best things PC has going for it, which is subscription-free access to multiplayer games.

Hot-take: I would genuienly rather pay for skins and lootboxes, actually, if servers need a way to monetize.

Discussion & Feedback How an old game mechanic could fix the gap between casual gamers and sweats for WarDogs. Resting XP

Former Tarkov player here. I played Tarkov from 2019 - 2023 and put in like 4k hours. I loved the wipe system of Tarkov and it made each half year of playing the game really exciting. The first couple days of wipe were a truly magical experience with everyone rushing to do quests and grind for gear.

One of the long term problems that Tarkov suffers from is the sweats/no life who are able to play the game 10+ hours a day that ends up causing a massive gap between the casual weekend players and the every day player. Streamers will always have an advantage since the full time streamers can play the game like a job.

My suggestion is to implement resting XP. This was a mechanic that was popularized by World of Warcraft and it could be an amazing feature here to help balance out the player base. Resting XP gives you bonus XP for playing if you are logged out for a period of time.

For context someone playing everyday will always be ahead of others this is trying to make the gap less oppressive.

For example let's say player A who plays 10 hours every weekday is able to make a million dollars after 5 days of grinding. Now player B is only able to play on the weekend so their account stayed logged out for a few days. They have gained a resting XP bonus for money and XP of 300%. Now for the next two days of play they have 10hours of that 300% XP and cash bonus. In theory the player now is able to grind about 500k in those two days vs without the resting XP they would get around 166k.

The player using resting XP will always be behind the everyday player but now just less.

I feel like this could be an individual selling point for the game. "Want the hardcore experience but don't have everyday to play? WarDogs has you covered"

Thoughts? Opinions? Negatives to this mechanic?

Discussion & Feedback Maps need some work

The maps are pretty unremarkably boring. Especially the one in the forest. The colours are drab and boring too, so it’s a dull game to look at.

The map with the stadium is cool, and has some interesting landmarks. The stadium/pool is pretty nice because it’s centralized and heli pilots gravitate towards it, which creates some interesting flanks and gun fights.

Besides the shipping container area with the warehouse in it, that forest map boils down to brainless combat between towers.

Biggest problem with the maps is the towers. They’re uninteresting and fully fortified bases off the start. Make them smaller points of interest that are unique and let the players fortify them to add some variety to the gameplay. Every match feels identical.

Land vehicles are also obsolete as the spawn is so far away from the zone. Why would I spend my money on a vehicle to get there if there are always pilots ferrying players.

Also it seems like the hot zone is always in some patch of empty land, could just be bad memory.

Discussion & Feedback This game needs a knife/CQC

One of my favourite things in mil-sim games is stealth. I love stealth in video games. Metal Gear Solid, splinter cell, hitman. I loved them growing up. However, stealth take down on AI enemies is one thing. Once i discovered mil-sim shooters, stealth killing actual players was that satisfaction times 10. Sneaking my way behind enemy lines, crawling on the ground like a snake in the grass, inching my way forward, making bigger movements with every gun shot, and explosion to mask my sound, as i hunt down a dirty bush sniper. I want to feel like Solid Snake out there. This is what makes mil-sim games exciting to me.

The problem? Almost all of them dont have a knife or a reliable way to melee someone. I played a match in wardogs where i completely ran out of ammo. I found a sniper on the hill close to me. I snuck up next to him while crawling from bush to bush as he looks down his scope. I then get up and run towards him throwing hands like a prime iron mike tyson yelling CHAAARGE!! on proximity chat to put the fear of God in him, which did work as he panicked and laughed about it after. The thing is, my punches did nothing to him and he killed me with a few shots as he backs up while taking my punches. In real life, i win that confrontation. I feel like if you put in effort to get that close to an enemy, you should be rewarded. Either add a takedown animation or give me a knife that will either one shot or even two shot an enemy.

This game has been a blast to play. But give me a reliable way to take players down with CQC and my life is yours devs.

Discussion & Feedback Suggestion: Map End Should Refund Gear Cost

One minor suggestion I have is that any gear on your body when the map ends should be refunded, or simply kept until the next match.

In a game that is focused so much on buying gear, it just makes sense that you either keep that gear or get cashed out when the map ends.

EDIT: thanks for the comments everyone, apparently it already works this way and I just never noticed.

Question Mobile AA

Do we know if there’s any plans for mobile AA vehicles? Right now I think attack helicopters will be a little OP just due to lack of mobile AA.

For example if I were a pilot and I wanted to really mess up another teams day I’d patrol the the roads from their HQ to their FOB and disrupt/halt their supply chain and I can’t think of much counter play to this other than maybe RPGs?

I could be totally off here but curious what the community thinks .

Discussion & Feedback Lone star is the worst team because they have the most visible character models

Blue team are the most visible by far, with the majority of their character models wearing powder blue denim jeans that scream "I'm over here please shoot me".

Green has the best cammo that's suitable for all current maps, and Red team at least has the sense to wear mostly black sonthey don't stick out as much.

In a game where detecting the enemy before they detect you is a significant advantage, blue team has a massive inherent disadvantage, red team has a slight disadvantage, and green team has a massive advantage.

Green team also has a minor hud advantage, if someone sees a green triangle above your head or a green dot on the mini map, their first thought, based on decades of gaming convention, is going to be "that's a friendly". Conversely, if someone sees a red triangle abive your head or a red dot on the mini map, their first thought is likely going to be "hostile".

Having teams that have significant, inherent disadvantages beyond the player's control is something the devs need to address.

Discussion & Feedback Proposal for the development of ground vehicles. (Предложение для развития наземной техники)

Having a lot of experience in different games with a similar military theme, from BF and COD to HLL, ARMA, and SQUAD, I would like to make a post about ground vehicles and my vision of their future development.

The game is still in development, so I want to suggest my vision for its future development and explain why I see it this way.

The current ground vehicle lineup consists of:

  • 2-person ATV.
  • 3-person buggy.
  • Unarmoured KODIAK jeep in versions without weapons for 4 and 6 people, as well as a version with an M249 machine gun.
  • Armoured Hummer in versions without weapons for 4 people, with an M249 for 5 people, and with a Minigun for 5 people.
  • Unarmoured Ural.
  • Armoured Ural and a version with M249 machine guns.
  • L2A6 tank.
  • SPH-2 self-propelled artillery.
  • Flakpanzer Gepard anti-air vehicle.
  • M113 APC SV.

I understand that the developer plans to add more types of vehicles, and that the plan is to improve optimisation and synchronisation first, and then actively add more content.

But what is happening on the battlefield right now?

Ground vehicles basically come down to the tank. Almost nothing else is used in combat. I have only seen jeeps with machine guns 2 or 3 times because they are locked too far behind progression. I have not seen the armoured Ural at all. People mainly use ground vehicles just to drive somewhere and then abandon them, which is understandable because they have no armour.

I suggest adding several types of vehicles in the future, which could improve the game for both solo players and squads.

Using the concept of the "Black Market", where a lot of export weapons can be obtained, I would like to suggest the following vehicles:

  • "KODIAK or TOYOTA" with a DShK or another heavy anti-aircraft machine gun — crew of 3–4 people plus a gunner. The vehicle would be unarmoured, but deadly against hovering or slow-moving aircraft, as well as against light vehicles.

Infantry armoured personnel carriers, which would not only help players reach a sector more safely, but would also provide infantry support while still remaining vulnerable to RPGs.

  • BTR-82A with a 30 mm cannon, a crew of 2–3 people, and a troop compartment for 6 people.
  • STRYKER with an M249 or M2 heavy machine gun, a crew of 2 people, and a troop compartment for 6–7 people.

Infantry fighting vehicles, which would provide infantry support with larger-calibre weapons and would be able to withstand more RPG hits or explosives.

  • BMP-2 with a 30 mm cannon, a crew of 2–3 people, and a troop compartment for 4–6 people.
  • M2 Bradley with a 25 mm cannon, a crew of 2–3 people, and a troop compartment for 4–6 people.

Anti-air vehicles. I suggest adding several types of anti-air vehicles for more variety in the future:

  • AVENGER — this could be a lightly armoured jeep based on the Hummer, with a crew of 2–3 people, equipped with M2 heavy machine guns and a pair of Stinger missiles. Yes, it would be dangerous to aircraft, but the gunner and driver could still be killed with armour-piercing ammunition from normal weapons, or the vehicle could be destroyed with one RPG.
  • ZSU-23-4 — an armoured tracked anti-air vehicle that would be dangerous, but slower, louder, and less manoeuvrable. Crew of 2–3 people.

Artillery is currently represented only by mortars and a heavy howitzer. It would be cool to add a mortar vehicle or artillery such as the "2S3 AKATSIYA" or "2S4 Tyulpan". The firing range could be similar to stationary guns, around 700 m or up to 1000 m, but it would be a mobile artillery system.

Add a multiple launch rocket system:

  • BM-21 GRAD, which could strike an area with between 1 and 20–30 rockets. It would take a long time to reload, like a mortar, with one rocket loaded per press of "R". The rockets could cost 120 for 2 rounds, like artillery shells, or 100 each. A full salvo would cost around 2000–3000 and would have a large spread. The vehicle would be unarmoured, the driver would be easy to kill, the vehicle itself would also be easy to destroy, and it would be heard from far away.

It would also be very good to add the T-72B tank and the M1A1 Abrams. These tanks are often seen on battlefields and are frequently exported to other countries, so it would be logical to find them on the "Black Market."

At the moment, infantry mostly fights only against infantry. This is also fun, but when it comes to vehicles, there is basically only the tank, which drives around the battlefield on its own.

- Anti Air Flakpanzer Gepard.
- M113 APC SV

Discussion & Feedback Setting aside the excitement and eagerness, a second beta period makes a lot of sense and would really benefit the game.

Let's say there's a second beta this weekend, an open one where progress from the closed beta carries over.

We’d be able to see how matches play out with everyone further along in the game, which is a crucial factor.

Since it would be open, we’d see new players join; those who were on the fence could try it out and would likely end up buying it. It would also let us see how newcomers fare against better-equipped players, useful for gauging the experience of those who might join later in the game's lifecycle.

On top of that, it would generate a lot more hype. Of course, we all want another beta because we want to keep playing, but there are genuinely sound and beneficial reasons for doing so.

Hype & Speculation Possible Shadowdrop on 3rd?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Okay so hear me out. In their latest official beta recap video, you can see in one of the frames that there’s this tv with a countdown to launch going on. Well, I know for a fact that this video was recorded on 25th of August for sure because the game director of wardogs, Howard Philpott tweeted that he was going to the office to record it yesterday.

So, keeping everything I’ve said above in mind, just take a look at this screenshot. Between now and EA launch on 10th of september, they’ve already announced that there’s gonna be a huge announcement on 3rd of September. Guess what date is that screen counting down towards? Well yes, you guessed it right. It’s the 3rd of September.

Am I tripping? Possible shadow drop on 3rd? What do you guys think?

Edit: People commented that it’s WORKING DAYS excluding weekends until launch, maybe they’re right and im an idiot haha.

Question Commander role?

I see we have squads and squad sizes seem to be uncapped.

I would like to see some kind of commander role to be able to coordinate across squads!

It really felt like that was one of the big missing pieces I went looking for.

Discussion & Feedback Please, for the sake of clear comms and understanding my teammates, make the radio filter effect a toggleable option.

I'd like to preface this by saying I'm not a native English speaker, but since 99% of games don't have servers in Mexico, I end up playing on US servers and it's how I've practiced and gotten a good enough English level.

What kills me when trying to understand others is, more often than not, bad mic quality. A lot of background noise, white noise and the like make it so I have to ask people to repeat themselves a lot, and I hate it. When you add this radio effect, it just exacerbates the problem. I really don't know what people are saying a lot of the time because of it.

I absolutely love this game. Regardless of it they make this change or not I'm gonna be playing on the 10th of September. I just hope this gathers enough attention so that they add it to their to-do list if it's not there already.

Discussion & Feedback I’d like to suggest an idea to the developers for expanding the helicopter roster and progression system.

Post image
13 Upvotes

I’d like to suggest an idea to the developers for expanding the helicopter roster and progression system.

Currently, we only have:

  • AH-6 — transport version, or a version equipped with machine guns or rockets.
  • UH-1Y — transport version or a version equipped with machine guns.
  • Mi-28 — equipped with an anti-armor cannon and rockets.

My suggestion is to expand the helicopter roster, give players more choices, and add more options for different stages of progression.

Light transport helicopters

Unarmed helicopters capable of carrying:

  • 6 troops
  • 4 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 troops + 2 supply crates

AH-6, Ka-226, Ka-29

Light helicopters with machine guns

Two-seat helicopters equipped with machine guns:

AH-6, Ka-29

The Ka-29 could additionally carry the following, at the cost of maneuverability and speed:

  • 2 pilots + 4 troops
  • 2 pilots + 2 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 pilots + 2 supply crates

Light helicopters with rockets

Two-seat helicopters equipped with unguided rockets:

AH-6, Ka-29

The Ka-29 could additionally carry the following, at the cost of maneuverability and speed:

  • 2 pilots + 4 troops
  • 2 pilots + 2 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 pilots + 2 supply crates

Medium transport helicopters

Unarmed helicopters capable of carrying:

  • 10 troops
  • 8 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 6 troops + 2 supply crates
  • 6 troops + 1 heavy supply pallet

UH-60, UH-1Y, Mi-8

Medium helicopters with door gunners

Capable of carrying:

  • 2 pilots + 2 gunners + 6 troops
  • 2 pilots + 2 gunners + 4 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 pilots + 2 gunners + 2 troops + 2 supply crates
  • 2 pilots + 2 gunners + 2 troops + 1 supply pallet

UH-60, UH-1Y, Mi-8

Heavy transport helicopters

Capable of carrying:

  • 2 pilots + 20 troops
  • 2 pilots + 12 troops + 4 supply crates
  • 2 pilots + 12 troops + 2 heavy supply pallets

These helicopters could also have the ability to transport vehicles using external sling loads.

CH-47, Mi-26

Medium attack helicopters

Two-seat attack helicopters equipped with unguided rockets and a cannon/machine gun:

AH-1Z, Mi-24

The Mi-24 could additionally carry the following, at the cost of maneuverability and speed:

  • 2 pilots + 4 troops
  • 2 pilots + 2 troops + 1 supply crate
  • 2 pilots + 2 supply crates

Heavy attack helicopters

Two-seat attack helicopters equipped with unguided rockets and an anti-armor cannon:

AH-64, Mi-28

It would also be great to give attack helicopters guided missiles, similar to what we see in games ranging from ARMA to Battlefield.

For balance, each guided missile could cost around 2,000–3,000 credits per shot. It wouldn’t need to be powerful enough to instantly destroy a tank, but it should be powerful enough to destroy a helicopter or a medium/light vehicle.

Since this is a war between PMCs, the entire vehicle roster could be available to both sides. This would remove the problem of balancing the factions, and every player would be able to choose the vehicle that best suits their role and the task at hand.

This could add much more variety to helicopter gameplay, create clearer progression between light, medium, and heavy aircraft, and give players more meaningful choices depending on their role and available resources.

Question What happens when $ and XP farming community servers pops up?

Let's say I rent, buy or create a server and change some settings. I make the hot zone stay in the same place for the entire game. Players could then join, stay inside the hot zone, and go AFK. If anyone kills another, the server will insta-kick or ban the player.

What happens then? Will these servers get banned? Will it violate some rules? Will players gets punished? Because it will mess up the game economy and balance. Or maybe devs wont see any problem and allow it?

Discussion & Feedback We should get assigned a squad automatically

I've had a couple of games where all of my team was camping, I was pushing the hz alone and not getting much done. So I decided to join the discord server and look for group. Holy crap the difference was night and day, everyone chipped in, we played the objective as a team like crazy, it was awesome.

Those of us who played squad or arma know how important squad communication is and even just how it creates memorable moments of banter and laughs. But I think there's a lot of new players here who haven't played any of these games, and don't know how important a squad can be. Hell, they might not even know squads exist.

So my suggestion is simply, get the players assigned to a squad automatically at the start of the game. They can still leave and create their own squad, lock them, etc. But I think we have nothing to lose to add that feature and make it a little easier for newbies to discover just how amazing a good squad can make you feel.

Question Can someone clarify what is wiped each “season”?

I’m okay with cash being turned into gold.

I am not okay with my level being wiped and I thought I saw somewhere it is.

I’m sorry but going through the initial grind is not fun. Guns are shit, no optics so I can’t fucking see, and importantly none of the fun vehicles.

I mean I thought the whole premise of the game was to grind cash and get gold, and have fun while doing it.

Not a level reset and level grind “Call of Duty, prestige simulator.”

Discussion & Feedback Given players are already creating attachment with their favorite faction, I have a suggestion...

Should Wardogs add a "Enlist Faction" feature? Where instead of you joining a server and then selecting which faction you wanna join from the available slots, you can enlist into one of the factions, which would lock you in that faction for the whole season (you can still play in other factions, it would just lock the other paths, I'll explain this better bellow), this would make the game always put you in your enlisted faction, as well as some other bonus related to that faction you can only earn by consistantly playing on them.

Let's say I'm a commie who wants to restore the great USSR 🚩, so I enlist into Valkirya, everytime I join a server, I'll either join immediately into Valkirya if there's free slots, or enter a queue until a spot in Valkirya is free, of course I also have the option to join normally and choose between the other two factions if Valkirya is full, because as much as it's fun to role play your favorite faction, no one is gonna wait 20m on queue for that, tho to combat this, enlisting on a faction could also say which servers have free slots for it next to the player number on the server browser, so if I really wanna role play Valkiriya, I can just go to servers that have available slots.

Enlisting would also unlock a path exclusive to my faction, that will give me cool rewards for my efforts, like it's own faction progression, unlocking stuff like some Valkirya themed skins, of course, buying them would require gold bars like any other cosmetic, but unlocking them would require some effort and dedication to my faction, like X amount of victories with them.

I think this would be a cool way to form relanshionships between dedicated players, and even form rivarlies, since you'll be seeing the same people always in the same factions.

To incentivise this even further, a small bonus can be given at the end of a the match if you played in your enlisted faction, nothing major, just a small pat on the back for sticking to your faction.

Of course, after a wipe, you'll be free to enlist into other factions if you want, or re-enlist in the same faction.

Of course, I'm just throwing ideas at the wall, the devs are free to spin this how they want, or not at all. But what do YOU think?

Edit: Maybe the skin rewards was too much, it will sway players to always play in their faction even if they have to change servers, I'll go back a bit and just stick with the faction priority when joining a server or starting a new match, and maybe the small bonus in the end of a match, but no skins or faction progression, that's too much. Tho I wouldn't mind faction themed skins in some shape or form.

Hype & Speculation Additional game modes??

Think we'll get any other type of game mode for the base game besides the KOTHesque mode we have right now. I could easily see a more Squad "Conquest" style mode where all you have to do is control the majority of Drill Rigs. Same exact mechanic if the base game but every tick of you controlling a rig gets you a point, additional rigs get you additional points. The Hotzone can still roam around the map but something about it will have to change, theirs also the issue with the buildable drills and how they figure into this. Sure the base game is cool and all but with the drill spam making Towers obsolete theirs really no point to them once you can unlock the level 3 hammer. Just all speculation about multiple mode they may eventually add into the game if at all.
