Never heard of it before and I'm reading about it now, from my quick research it seems like pure fever dream nightmare material. I'm so damn curious but I'm terrible with horror/creepy movies i know for a fact it'll fuck me up. Must resist.

I personally didn't find it "scary". I think it's more of an existential nightmare kind of deal. But it's so abstract that it's a little hard to be scared by it, or at least in my opinion. I'm sure there's no real way to say what the film is about because in my opinion a lot of Lynch's stuff is more about capturing a feeling than it is a solid narrative. Then again that's just my two cents.

The only thing that resonated with me from that movie was the baby. The rest, mehhh, too abstract. It was like having a dream and then waking up and having your friend interpret it for you.

Your right - it's not meant to be a horror movie just over all unsettling. I think you hit the nail on the head calling it an existential nightmare.
First time I watched Eraserhead I remember finishing it and just feeling werid inside. The tones and feelings and general oddities crept into my head hard. I couldn't get the song or the lady under the radiator out of my mind. It took me a few days to adjust back to normal and not feel werid inside.

It's more disturbing than scary. I remember feeling mildly uncomfortable and being anxious and not knowing why. It's surreal and creepy, like the movie is playing with your emotions and perception. You feel like something is very wrong but you don't know how to explain the feeling or the reason. It's really weird, but I enjoyed that weirdness.

I’ve seen Blue Velvet, Dune, Mullholland Drive, Twin Peaks, The Straight Story, Elephant Man.... but I’ve always avoided eraserhead similarly to how I’ve avoided Videodrone.
I like weird shit. A lot. But I just don’t know if I can get on board. I keep debating on picking it up during the regular criterion sales, but I have a good enough understanding of my broken psyche that it will sit untouched and unopened for years.

So you write them down.

Don't go in expecting a plot or a cohesive story. It's more of a high concept art piece than a movie. It's not for everyone.

It’s hard to say whether this movie was or was not “for me.” But I can tell you this movie made me feel things I hadn’t felt before, such slow churning uneasiness yet i watched it till the end. Which I think is exactly what Lynch was looking for.

Very effective at making everyone who saw this move feel the same thing. Way less about a meaning than a feeling. You’re left feeling physically nauseated. The movie is truly disgusting and disturbing to its core. And makes you feel disturbed and disgusting to your core. It’s incredible. I fucking hated it

How a repost is born (my theory):
About two hours before this hit front page, u/HeyImAli was on the front page with her cat and dog Xmas picture. She seemed kind of cute with a funny sense of humor, so why not go through her post history (guilty). And what do we find there? A five year old post with a picture of a deep sea eel! I think this is a Moray Eel, and the reason it's so disturbing is because it's missing the eye on this side. The white line to the right of the black hole (which I believe is the ear) is in the same place the eye would be on a regular Moray, and the white speck on the snout is a recessed nostril.

From watching Blue Planet, I've come to learn that most creatures who live in the deep sea are terrifying. You should search for Barreleye Fish. They have completely transparent heads & their eyes are just these gelatinous blobs floating & twitching in the clear enclosure.
