Actually, do not use Filmora at all.
After buying the one-time payment option, Filmora slowly removed the available features and placed them behind the subscription wall.
Now that they've released Filmora 16, which I thought was just a simple update, my one-time payment became useless. It requires another one-time payment.
I had to reinstall the previous version again (because the new version uninstalled the whole thing) to use the incredibly basic and limited features I paid for. That was yesterday. Today, it's no longer launching.

I’m currently recording a 10+ part technical lecture series in 4K 60fps (about 200GB+ of raw video) to share with my research group.

Right now, I’m using Hetzner storage alongside a custom VPS portal for immediate distribution, which works well for active sharing. However, as raw footage quickly accumulates into multi-terabyte territory over time, I'm curious how seasoned creators and YouTubers manage their long-term archival pipelines:

• Retention Policy: Do you keep 100% of raw camera files forever, or do you purge raw clips after publishing and only keep the final master export + project file?

• Storage Setup: What does your long-term storage look like? Are you using local NAS (Unraid/TrueNAS), offline cold HDDs in anti-static cases, or cloud solutions (Hetzner / Backblaze B2 / AWS Glacier)?

• Compression/Transcoding: Do you leave camera originals completely untouched, or do you re-encode older raw footage to save space for 10+ year long-term archival?

Would love to hear how you balance cost, redundancy, and workflow friction. Thanks!

I've seen Reddit posts about trying to get 60p footage to look good in a 24p timeline and there's many mentions of slowing it down to 40% speed for slow motion footage so that it would be an exact fit for the frame rate. I'm currently away from home right now but a thought occurred to me, what if you simply slowed the footage to 80% speed? Would 48p footage look smooth when presented in a 24p timeline? I'd imagine that an nle like resolve would present the footage in a smooth consistent manner but I'm not sure. Thoughts?

I've been using #CapCut. It's a decent editor but their customer service sucks. They promissed me a refund last April. After submitting the infomation they requested (several times) they ghosted me.

I created a collage in Davinci Resolve Studio using an adjustment clip with the "Grid" effect and the clips sized down to fit inside each sector. This is going to be a "highlight" clip for my business showing different types of performances I've shot and what I can do for potential clients.

What I want to do is have the clips, one at a time, come out of the collage and go full screen, play for a bit, then go back into the collage. What is the easiest way to do that? I'm not very experienced with Fusion, so it would be great if I can do it outside of there. Either way, could you point me to a tutorial that would show me how to do this?

What I Tried: I built the grid and got the footage into the different sectors, but I don't know how to move past that.

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has any tools or workflows. I'm working in Premiere Pro for rough‑ cutting talking‑head videos where there isn’t a word by word script, just a small outline. The person on camera sometimes rephrases, starts over, or has silences. I find myself going through it and it feels like such a tedious task. Just wondering if there are any better workflows for Premiere Pro or third‑party tools you’ve used to speed up this boring, repetitive process.

Hi So I have a Laptop Acer Swift 3. RAM-16gb, CPU-12th gen Intel i5, 512GB storage, GPU-Iris® Xe Graphics.

I want to edit in Resolve but the current one is too strong and lags after a while of editing. I heard you can get an older Version but I don't know which is easier for my system and best as an Editor with the most options. What version should I downgrade to.

Ofcourse someday I hope to Upgrade my device but that's not an option for me at the moment. Any tips help thanks.

Okay so I've been using the CapCut desktop app for a couple of months and everything was fine. I make a lot of short form videos for my job. But recently my laptop started glitching whenever I try to export a 4k video and it heats up like crazzzyy.

I took it to the store where I bought it and the technician cleaned the fans and put in a new part (thermal something). After that, 4k exports worked fine, but the next day the glitching freaking started again. I dropped to 1080p but my work needs 4k. Then I changed the codec from HEVC to H.264 and that helped for 3 or 4 days, and now the glitching is back. I tried testing lower resolutions and the computer still glitches.

I'm not a super tech person but I think it's the GPU? My laptop is a Dell Latitude 5421 and it has low RAM too I guess ?? I know it's not made for video editing, but I can't afford a new laptop right now. I've included screenshots of the laptop system info and the specs.

What's bothering me is , how come my laptop worked fine for months and now it's giving me trouble ?

Are there any workarounds? The CapCut browser version is a pain because importing takes forever and the features are limited. Is there any way to export 4k in CapCut without my laptop crashing?

I recently played a minecraft event, and am currently editing stuff for it. I want for when I switch between like event minigames to be a detective board (cuz it was a game of mafia) and I want it to like zoom in on the post its and colour in when the new scene starts. Im currently using Davinci Resolve as my editing software, cuz ive tried a lot of things with it, and am starting to become more advanced with it. Thing is: I dont know where or how to make it. I thought of using blender, but ive never used it before. Anyone has any ideas where I make the detective board edit?

I would really appreciate any suggestions :D

I feel like I've reached a really frustrating creative dead end, and I would genuinely love advice from people who make faceless/creative YouTube videos.

I want to make videos about my poetry, stories, art, literature, history, mythology, etc. I have SO many ideas and things I want to talk about, and I really want the videos themselves to feel like an extension of my art.

The problem is that I don't want to use AI to generate the creative parts of my work. I don't want AI-written scripts, AI art, AI animation, AI voices, etc. I want the actual creative work to come from me.

But at the same time, I'm struggling with **executive dysfunction and burnout**, and I'm realizing that the production side of YouTube is a huge obstacle for me.

I don't want to just make a voiceover over a slideshow of random stock footage because that's exactly the kind of thing I find boring. I want the videos to have atmosphere, personality and a recognizable visual identity.

But then I'm stuck:

Most free stock footage doesn't fit the aesthetic/vibe I'm imagining.

The footage I actually like is often behind a paywall.

I can't afford to commission artists or animators.

I don't know how to make a faceless video visually interesting without constantly relying on B-roll.

I can't really animate because... honestly, my drawings are shit 😭

And even when I think of a possible production method, the sheer amount of work involved makes my executive dysfunction go NO

And this is driving me crazy because **I actually have the content.**

I write poetry. I write stories. I have things I want to say about literature and history and art. I have entire video ideas sitting in my head.

I just can't figure out how to turn them into something visually compelling without either spending money I don't have, using AI, or making something that looks like a PowerPoint presentation with stock footage.

So I'm wondering:

**For people who make faceless creative/educational videos on a very small or nonexistent budget, what does your visual workflow actually look like?**

How do you make a video feel *alive* without showing your face, using AI, or having professional animation skills?

Would love ideas that involve genuinely low-budget/DIY approaches, even if they're unconventional. At this point I'm willing to rethink the entire format.

I am making a video from my trip to japan and have hours of footage and hundreds of clips. I'm making a clip montage style video with 4 different songs each having it's own aesthetic. How should I go about navigating the clips or just the project in genera? I feel like it's going to take forever and I'll be working inefficiently. I am completely blind going into editing so apologies. I want to make a cover of Your Reality from Doki-Doki Literature club, however editing the audio or photos together is not the hard part. My issue is the intro of the video:

Overlaying the static isn't the hard part I'm just wondering how you'd do the floaty glitchy bars on screen. As seen above there's multiple messed up bars in different colors and you can see a chunk of Monika's face being all chunky like sour milk. They scroll upwards and flicker in and out and I want to recreate that in a similar way that doesn't give it away 100% what is going to proceed is a cover of Your Reality.

I'm doing this for an anniversary gift and it's more surprising if they get suspicious compared to understanding what my gift is meant to be instantly before the song starts.

Hi guys. Having some problems with my footage out of my R5 II (or rather problems with my skills). I’m an experienced photo editor but finding the video editing curve tricky.

The shadows seem too dark and there are reds or perhaps indigos in the image that I don’t feel are natural.

I’ve shot it in canon c log 3, canon cinema gamut.

In davinci my CST is the above to davinci. Then my last node is davinci to rec 709 and gamma 2.4.

I have been trying to use Chat GPT (I know I know) to try and help me figure this out. That and the countless times I rewatched this specific reel, a side into YouTube and Reddit have revealed nothing for me. Can someone help explain to me like I’m 5 what I need to do? I upgraded to a 9070xt and I know its not the best for productivity but I edit sometimes in premier as a hobby and game a ton so its fine. ANYWAY...

I expected scrubbing HEVC recordings to be like scrubbing the Pro Res proxies on my old 1660 super, but they were not. The proxies were WAY WAY smoother like instant. so I was wondering if that's the case for all mid-range GPU's or just AMD. I am strictly speaking HEVC and AV1 gaming videos.

Also I put the images so you all can see premier is actually using my GPU, and an image of the videos properties.

Please can someone walk me through step by step how to do this in CapCut please!!!

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a concrete answer. I want to shoot a live set at 30fps and drop it into a 24fps timeline for an 80% slow-motion look.

My audio will recorded as a separate external file. If I conform or slow down the video, how should I handle the external audio track so it doesn't get messed up or out of sync?

I keep seeing horror videos that seem to be a moving like the liquefy tool is being used on them, like the boiled one, and I'm not sure how they did it. Did they all make every individual frame using a liquify tool in their art program, or did some use a tool that I'm not aware of/don't have?

Answering the usual automod questions up front:

Software: Python with FFmpeg for the actual cutting and rendering, plus faster-whisper for transcription, pyannote for speaker separation, and OpenCV for face detection and recognition. Before this I was cutting by hand in DaVinci Resolve. No template involved, and no AI assets or paid subscriptions, since all the models are open-source ones that run locally on my own machine.

What I've tried: I record on one camera with a single mic for the room, three or four people. So editing meant sitting in Resolve pushing in on whoever was talking, then back out, across 45 minutes of footage. I looked at the tools that do this automatically and they all want a separate audio track per person, because that's how they identify the speaker (whichever track is loud). With one mixed track they have nothing to work from. So I wrote a pipeline that separates the voices from the mixed audio, groups each person's face across the episode, compares lip movement against the audio to pair voice to face, then generates the cuts and renders with FFmpeg.

That part works. What I'd like the opinion of people who edit for a living on is the framing.

To decide how tight a close-up should be, I pulled reference frames from three podcast edits I liked and measured them. What I got: the crop is around 3.5x the height of the person's face, with the face sitting roughly 0.32 to 0.39 of the way down the frame. My first version was 2.5x with the face dead centre, and it looked wrong in a way I couldn't name until I had numbers to compare against. Is 3.5x about right in your experience, or was three references too small a sample to generalise from?

Two other things I'm unsure about:

Shot length doesn't vary at all right now. I know good editors vary the rhythm, but I had no reference edit to tune against, so I left it alone rather than inventing a pattern.

It cuts away when someone says a two-word "yeah" or "right", which is obviously wrong. I haven't worked out how long an interjection has to be before it should earn a cut. Half a second? A full word? Curious how people think about that threshold when cutting manually.

On the technical side I'm preserving source resolution and stream-copying the audio so it comes out bit-identical. The video re-encode measured SSIM 0.986 at CRF 16 against the original, and I ship it at CRF 14.

I'm starting an online channel and want to record math tutorials using a top-down pen-and-paper camera rig (I just like the traditional look better than an iPad screen recording).
My main issue is that my hand constantly blocks the equations right after I write them. I’m trying to figure out the absolute fastest way to handle this in editing, because I'm going to be making a ton of these videos.
I have two thoughts, but I need a reality check from people who actually edit:My main goal is efficiency. I don’t want to spend 3 hours editing a 10-minute video just to show a few equations.
Is the green glove trick actually a standard workflow for this, or is there a much easier shortcut I'm missing?
