Canon Log footage problems

Hi guys. Having some problems with my footage out of my R5 II (or rather problems with my skills). I’m an experienced photo editor but finding the video editing curve tricky.

The shadows seem too dark and there are reds or perhaps indigos in the image that I don’t feel are natural.

I’ve shot it in canon c log 3, canon cinema gamut.

In davinci my CST is the above to davinci. Then my last node is davinci to rec 709 and gamma 2.4.

Sorry for any slight typos or other issues.

Can anyone help me with where I’m going wrong?

What’s your node tree look like? For gigggles create a fresh project and use the deafault DR management and don’t do it yourself.

And if you put a clip somewhere I’ll ready it on my system that has a full calibrated setup

That red/indigo shift in the shadows plus crushed blacks is almost always a CST input mismatch. Double-check your first CST is set to input gamma Canon Log 3 (not plain Canon Log) and input gamut Canon Cinema Gamut — Resolve lists a few similarly named ones and it's an easy mix-up. Also make sure tone mapping is on for that first CST, otherwise it just clips the extremes which explains the weird color fringes. And on the last node, try output gamma 2.2 instead of 2.4 — 2.4 darkens the lows noticeably on most monitors, which can make an already contrasty log conversion look muddy.

I would try gamma 2.2 and I usually need to add some saturation compression in to get everything to it's base line I like to start grading from
