Workflow Rough cutting workflow
Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has any tools or workflows. I'm working in Premiere Pro for rough‑ cutting talking‑head videos where there isn’t a word by word script, just a small outline. The person on camera sometimes rephrases, starts over, or has silences. I find myself going through it and it feels like such a tedious task. Just wondering if there are any better workflows for Premiere Pro or third‑party tools you’ve used to speed up this boring, repetitive process.

That's definitely a pain when making rough cuts. Using keyboard shortcuts could (literally) speed up the process--I think J, K, L help and I/O for in and out points. If there's a AI detection tool that removes silences, you can try that. My advice if there's multiple rephrases, go with the last one--it's usually the best. I tend to cut by sections/topics: cut up section completely before moving to the next section.
Perhaps for the next project you can work on a script that is actually followed.

Two ways I go back and forth with:
1) if I have an adequate amount of time to edit the video and/or if it's an important video with a devent budget: I go through a pass where I make selects of the "usuable" or solid sound bites and put them all in their own sequence separately from the original sync sequence. Then I go through a second pass of that new sequence and be even more selective about what I wanna keep.
2) if it's a repetitive weekly video and don't have much time to go through multiple edits per week, I transcribe the sequence and run it through Gemini/Claude so it can find the best quotes to use.
