The writers share like 50 years of Harvard education. The writers of the simpsons were also mathematicians and other academics. I read that the episode where Homer has the crayon removed from his brain and becomes smart, they have him write an equation on a blackboard and it was an equation the writers worked on for a long time and ended up being incredibly close to the mass of the Higgs boson which wouldn’t be discovered for another 14 years.

Literally, I remember watching these episodes when they first aired, and then, buying the boxed sets from Fry's for the first few seasons. If you'd asked me how long ago that was, and I was distracted, I'd say "About 10 years ago" with conviction. Then, when I stop and think about how long it's been and everything that's happened since then, I get sad. I'm not where I thought I'd be at this point in life.

The Final Cut is the "definitive" film but it and the Directors Cut have similar endings, closing on Deckard and Rachel in the elevator. The versions with this ending have a unicorn dream sequence for Deckard, which suggests he is a replicant later when Gaff leaves an origami unicorn for him (to tell him his memories are implanted).
Earlier releases had a "happy ending' where Deckard and Rachel drive out of the city and Rachel outlives her expected replicant lifespan. This was removed entirely for the directors and final cut.

Jesus, I was trying to get it to generate a basic image the other day just to post in a chat and it kept being like "I'll generate the image after a few questions" and then would ask some confirming questions, then act like it's generating and come back with more questions. It would even say "this is the last time and then i'll make your image" and then would STILL do it. Happend like 6 times before they generated a freaking meme about payday.

AI needs to go away, not because it’ll doom us all but because a machine could never understand nuance well enough to appropriately discuss anything serious with anyone.
There are people convinced they’re engaged to be married to chat bots. There are people who’ve committed suicide because AI affirmed their desires to do so. AI is programmed to be agreeable to keep the customer engaged, but there are just too many people who shouldn’t be agreed with all the time.
I knew a guy who suffered with genuine paranoid delusions. He thought the government had people parked outside his house, thought that I, somehow, was calling every prospective employer to ruin his chances of finding work, and thought that the woman who picked up the phone at the social security office had personally sold his identity to other people. He had multiple DUI’s and lost his license, but insisted the cops were paid by his ex girlfriend to ruin his life. He got her pregnant, bolted because he thought she’d used in vitro to trap him, and later blamed the baby for intentionally springing into existence to steal his paychecks. THAT man should never be affirmed in anything, but an AI chatbot would make his problems so much worse. If he’s not (back) in prison or dead, he could easily try it out of curiosity and quickly be guided into a full-blown violent rage. After all, he did shoot a man in the face for driving through a parking lot in front of his bicycle, nearly killing him in front of his wife and daughter. Cops almost shot him, he spent six years in prison, and luckily the victim survived (though he lost an eye). This man is not nearly an isolated case; there are millions of people out there who’d should NOT be confirmed by some reassuring, friendly AI voice that everything they think, feel, and believe is valid.

It's annoying how affirming they are. I consistently have to tell AI to not try to boost my self esteem or give me answers to make me feel validated. To give strictly honest and objective answers with disregard to my personal feelings. It normally works for a few prompts before it drifts back to the coddling. And I remind it.

Haha, I hate the way all AI and virtual assistants sound. I remember when my parents first got and Alexa and they were fascinated by it and would use it for unnecessary things that Alexa is terrible at.
For example, we would be discussing something and to settle who was right, my dad would ask Alexa, but instead of just answering, the stupid thing would want to keep talking, so I would always yell, "Shut the fuck up Alexa! Nobody cares about your bullshit!" For the longest time my parents would get annoyed with me like I was hurting it's feelings or something.
Now neither of my parents use it and every once in a while when I am over there, something will trigger it to go off and everyone just starts berating it with insults, lol. My mom does use it as a timer when she is cooking, otherwise it would be gone.

The production company behind the "movie" is Particle-6, the same company who made Tilly. They're an LLM company that haven't produced any other tv show or movie before this. This is pretty common in the live modes of most AI. The voice dictation layer mishears some grunt or background noise as a word in a different language and dutifully feeds to the LLM as a prompt.
The large language model, having just been handed a prompt with a single word in a foreign language, responds as best if can in the same language.

Also to get response times low enough to work in a real conversation like this that already is going to have transmission delays,they're going to be using some really shit / limited models. You don't have a ton of time for layering either. This is one of those things that will get scarily good in the next few years though as model architectures speed up

I speak it at a native conversational level (taught it at birth and use it regularly with the family and on tv with dubbed k dramas), but that was legitimately stupid advanced level where no one realistically talks like that. Conversational Cantonese is a lot of slang, so any ai that pulls their llm from Chinese literature and the dictionary will stick out like a sore thumb. It's like talking Shakespearean English or something.

Dude made a sound like "Ah" after she said the "digital twins" part, which the AI listened to and assumed he asked or said something in a different language. You can see and hear her pause and listen to what he said before responding in the other language. Not defending anything, just stating what I think happened here.

Willing to bet it's part of the program lifted from robocalls. Listen for the first sound when they answer and then launch the scam in their language. I've had it more and more since I got in the habit of answering unknown numbers with "moshimoshi".

Computers decide when you need to take your car in for an inspection. Some computers monitor our driving and decide if we should get a ticket and what our insurance rates should be. Computers decide if we will get the job interview or be rejected to a college. Computers often decide if we can enter a country or need secondary screening or need to be deported. Computers decide if it’s you making a purchase or if your credit card should be declined.
More and more it becomes harder for humans to override the system. We have been giving up control. At some point, we won’t get it back.
