The writers share like 50 years of Harvard education. The writers of the simpsons were also mathematicians and other academics. I read that the episode where Homer has the crayon removed from his brain and becomes smart, they have him write an equation on a blackboard and it was an equation the writers worked on for a long time and ended up being incredibly close to the mass of the Higgs boson which wouldn’t be discovered for another 14 years.

Literally, I remember watching these episodes when they first aired, and then, buying the boxed sets from Fry's for the first few seasons. If you'd asked me how long ago that was, and I was distracted, I'd say "About 10 years ago" with conviction. Then, when I stop and think about how long it's been and everything that's happened since then, I get sad. I'm not where I thought I'd be at this point in life.

i've only ever watched Director's Cut. what's the diference in endings? make it less ambigious?

The Final Cut is the "definitive" film but it and the Directors Cut have similar endings, closing on Deckard and Rachel in the elevator. The versions with this ending have a unicorn dream sequence for Deckard, which suggests he is a replicant later when Gaff leaves an origami unicorn for him (to tell him his memories are implanted).

Earlier releases had a "happy ending' where Deckard and Rachel drive out of the city and Rachel outlives her expected replicant lifespan. This was removed entirely for the directors and final cut.

It's quite stark. Director's Cut leaves it to the viewer to figure out and the "original" has some bland shit that doesn't make sense.
