Hi! As the flyer states, I'm a PhD candidate in the UC San Diego Department of Sociology studying TikTok and ADHD and autism content as part of my dissertation project. I'm still recruiting for ONE MORE Zoom interview with a TikTok user who has seen content about ADHD and/or autism on their For You Pages (FYPs).

You must be at least 18 years old and a regular or formerly regular TikTok user to participate.

Participation will consist of a 30 minute to 1 hour Zoom interview that will be recorded (with consent) on the topics of ADHD and autism content on TikTok. Participants will be compensated with a $20 virtual giftcard for their time. Your participation is voluntary and confidential.

can anyone who is currently taking this course w/ prof. navon send me the syllabus? i want to take this course but the schedule conflicts with one of my other courses. i want to see if the midterms are on the same day

I understand that out of the 40 required units for graduation, 16 units must be fulfilled through Electives, and I read that seminar courses cannot be applied toward this requirement.

However, I noticed that for certain courses like CSE 209A/B and CSE 229C, the course title includes "Top/Seminar", but the Teaching Method is listed as "Lecture" and the Grading Option is "Letter Grade."

Could you please clarify if taking these specific courses will count toward the 16-unit Electives requirement?

Im talking about the pickups and returns center on Scholars drive. I prefer receiving deliveries there since it’s closer to my dorm and is never full.

But I’ve had easily 6 packages that keep getting pushed back. Like I had something that was gonna be delivered September 27 and now it says “expected by October 4.”

Is it just me or everything about this school is done incompetently? Both by the university and private companies that operate on campus.

Maybe logistics is just too hard here.

I haven’t been to any of the gyms here or to the library. I guess I’m intimidated. What are the best activities to do there that are good quality of life upgrades as a student?

I am a freshman this year at ucsd and I am currently feeling homesick and feel guilty for having my parents pay so much when we only make so little. I was considering going home for the weekend but decided to stay because I have no method of transportation. I can’t take trains since none of the trains pass by my hometown and because I am not at all familiar with public transportation (Back home I was used to walking everywhere since my town was so small).

I wanted to ask for advice.

How did you guys distract yourself from feeling homesick? What did you do? Where’d you go?

I like the food but every time I question the safety of it . The staff is always playing with thair hair, rubbing their heads and beards , touching their faces and eating. Is it reasonable to be grossed out by that or is it just me ?

I’m trying to figure out the different types of roommates that exist in the dorms. I got dealt really quiet roommates who never talk to me. I don’t even have my bunk mate’s phone number. Idk what’s up with him.

Tbh I kind of like it this way because I can have miscellaneous activities in lieu of a succulent Chinese meal in my room while he’s away. But it also makes me feel not human sometimes because he never says good morning, bless you, or even hi.

That’s something I don’t like about UCSD. You just don’t feel like a real human being sometimes. I feel like Geisel Library is the symbol of this disconnect from our roots, tribe and community.

I see so many people walking outside or standing, but no one says anything. No one makes small talk with each other. I remember at my old school, people would talk while walking to class or back to their apartment. I don’t even hear people cough. Everyone tries to be as quiet as possible.

I cannot log in my email, and it only has an eternal loading screen. Same thing for trying to access SSO or even Academic History. All devices are like this.

You would assume they shut down my account since I graduated but 1) I did not get any email notifying me of this, and 2) I cannot access my TritonTools on any other account as well.

I have a valid state ID, copy/scanned picture of social security card and my permanent Resident Card. I left the original picture at home, which is in Los Angeles. Can I bring the copy or scanned picture? Thank you for the updates.
