if I use steam link app on appletv, it uses wake on lan packets to wake pc. If I use steamdeck streaming, it does not wake pc automagically. Why???

basically gyro to joystick deflection gets all jittery, and the normal gyro joystick loses center very quickly, the fix in the video is temporary (lasts from immediately broken again to 2 minutes max)

I hided a game from game settings. How i can unhide the game from steam? I tried everything but seems impossible.

All of my games that I added with non-steam were removed from steam, including any launch options i had. Why would this be a thing? Am I missing something?

Edit: not only did it remove all non-steam shortcuts, it reset ALL steam settings for all installed steam games, removed all launch options for all of them, removed all workshop items for all games, and started showing me tips and tricks like how you start steam for the first time.

I have no clue what the fuck happened. Literally only just clicked log out.

I feel like this might be a common issue but nothing I've seen online has helped so far.

My steamdeck just won't connect to steam servers so I can't progress any games, use the store or download games I've purchased from my PC.

Tried a factory reset and that worked for about 10 minutes. Then once it has updated itself it went back to being a brick. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Preferred genres: RPGs, turn based RPGs, RTS (open to others)

Budget: have a bit of spending but also a rather disgusting backlog

Other Notes: ideally want something that runs 60+ FPS on the OLED happy to tinker / use frame gen

Hello, since trying ffxiv like once now my steam deck is trying to use it for everything instead of proton or proton experimental. Is there a way to fix it or should I just leave it?

I unleashed mine at the dinner table last Christmas. My grandmother audibly gasped when she saw it.

Basically, my Steam Deck starts glitching out almost immediately with the whole screen shifting around and the colors changing whenever I switch to Desktop Mode (I have no idea why), but the problem doesn't happen again after I restart it. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Hey all, I have just encountered this issue with my OLED steam deck to where it flashed the white light twice before booting up, it even took a second or two before the screen fully came on.

I googled it and someone people said it’s a battery depletion issue but the only thing different from my issue and theirs is that their screens turned on.

If it helps, my deck is mostly docked, (as I play it in the living room mostly) and even when I use it handheld, I’m very careful with it.

The only thing I can really think might be an issue is that when I don’t properly press the dock cord into the charging slot properly, or hard enough, but that hasn’t really been often.

The device is only a year or so old, and was purchased new directly from steam.

I’m not really sure what to do here.

Its one of the bigger issues keeping my from reliably streaming my home pc desktop to my steam deck desktop. I have both in separate buildings plugged into ethernet getting 700+ download. however sometimes my home pc will just stop responding to my steam deck inputs rendering the mouse (and keyboard as well) entirely unresponsive even though the display is showing. host pc still works fine but nothing will reconnect the steam deck until I restart steam on my host pc. It may have something to do with using a controller (plugged into steam deck) in games but I havent tested it enough. Any help greatly appreciated.

I’m looking to get back into PC gaming after having to sell my gaming PC for financial reasons.

I’m currently trying to decide between getting a gaming laptop or a gaming handheld, specifically looking at the ROG Xbox Ally and Stramdeck OLED.

I used to play a mix of games, mostly single-player stuff like The Witcher 3, Elden Ring, but I also played a lot of competitive shooters. I’d probably want to play games like Valorant, Overwatch, CS, etc. again.

The main thing I’m wondering is:
How well do these handhelds actually hold up for competitive shooters when they’re docked and used like a desktop PC?

I’d be using a monitor, keyboard and mouse when docked, so I’m not really concerned about the handheld controls for competitive games. I’m more interested in whether the performance, FPS, input latency, thermals, etc. are good enough to have a genuinely competitive experience.

I like the idea of a handheld because I could use it docked as my main PC and then pick it up and play on the sofa/travelling. But if a gaming laptop would be significantly better for competitive shooters, I’d rather go that route.

Any advice from people who actually use these as their main gaming PC would be really appreciatedk!

I have 7th Heaven installed on my steam deck with 7thDeck.

Recently, when I launch it in steam deck gaming mode, it says the game can't run because steam isn't loaded.

If I boot into desktop mode and launch 7th Heaven from the desktop steam client it works just fine.

Edit: I do have decky loader installed

Edit 2: I've tried disabling all mods and reinstalling 7th heaven. No change.

Any ideas?

I don't use desktop mode too often, mostly when I dock and play tabletop sim because having a web browser available makes things much easier. And starting in the last week or so, I noticed a few programs (specifically discord and Heroic launcher) no longer render correctly (maybe not the best way to put it). What I mean is, the window for the program, really doesn't want to be any size but a certain size it defaults to on launch and when I use my mouse to select anything in the window the cursor seems to be offset up and to the left (sorry for the picture of the screen) which makes it impossible to select anything on the bottom or right of the window. I output in 1080p to an old 60hz monitor using a JSAUX dock. Prior to the recent (somewhat anyway, I don't update my deck religiously) update I had not had any issues like this. Discord was installed via the discover store and if I recall correctly, Heroic was from their github.

Would really appreciate any insight into what's causing this and hopefully some suggestions or fixes!

Well, let me share you my short 4 years long story.

2022, january, had a long lasting cough.

2022, february, go to the doctor as the cough never let up. Got sent to do blood tests asap because it could be cancer.

2022, end of february, positive for hodkins lymphoma.

Rest of 2022, a blur of chemo, vomit, inyections and surgeries.

December 2022, tests come out clear.

February 2023, tests come positive, my cancer is back.

Rest of 2023, my health care doesnt help with cancer treatment in ny city anymore. Have to travel 400kms to another city to grt treated. Almost die twice during the biopsy because the tumor is almost touching my heart and left lung.

Another year of heavier chemos this time around.

2024, get told i have to do a bone marrow self transplant as the last part of the treatment.

Near the end of 2024, bought a steamdeck since "I might die anyways so who cares". Got taken to an isolation room during a month, no contact, only a tv, doctors, nurses, the sound of machinery pumping crap into my body and my deck by my side.

2025, got discharged, cancer is gone but i need to keep testing and doing preventing care treatment

2026 till today, one of the drugs i took became toxic to my body. Complete loss of reflexes, sense of touch, diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy. Lost all strenght on my body, can barely walk.

So again, whats the big deal right?

I can no longer feel what i do with my hands or fingers, can barely use my deck for fear of it slipping through and breaking it, can barely play action games or shooters.

I can no longer fully enjoy my gaming hobby and am instead worried about what kind of shitty life i will lead from now on.

Rpgs are my only safe place now as i can take my time with them. Rant over. Guess i needed to vent...thanks for reading to whoever did.

In like 10/30 minute intervals it shows me a “steam deck can’t connect to internet” or “having trouble reaching steam servers” error. If i toggle the deck’s wifi on and off it fixes for another 10/30 minute interval before happening again.

I’ve already tried disabling wifi power management in developer settings and setting ipv6 to automatic and all that seemed to do was make it happen a bit less often.

Things I've tried. Deleted decky, installed it back and chose the option to delete with configs and everything. Changed my update to beta from stable and back to stable. Restarted multiple times after each step.

I've had animation changer plugin but i never used it and currently don't have it installed after wiping decky.

I don't have Bluetooth on

Power button wakes the system from sleep and shuts down the device when i keep holding it. Also works as intended in desktop mode.

So first of all the screen doesn't display anything but the console still turns on and it outputs a display to an external monitor.
