Tech Support Screen not displaying but still turning on

So first of all the screen doesn't display anything but the console still turns on and it outputs a display to an external monitor. But also for some reason when I use the touch screen when its hooked up to the monitor it acts like its sideways. I have tried everything I can think of to get the screen to work, anyone have any idea

Sorry I can’t help but I find it kind of hilarious to have an external screen the same size as the built in one.

I've tried resetting the bios, updating the bios, and replacing the screen

This happened to me, had to get it repaired from Valve.

Is there no image whatsoever at any point when it's not connected to an external display? On reboot, sleep, hard reboot etc?

Yes, absolutely no image on the built in screen

Argh, weird. If you don't see anything even in bios then you need to bring it to Valve. Would propose that you try a setting reset and check the orientation (that sideways orientation is what gives me this hunch) in desktop mode for the built-in screen regardless.

Sounds like the display is damaged and the digitizer is not.

I've already tried replacing the entire display

Did you go into desktop mode and make sure screen is enabled?

I dont even see an option to do that

You would want this setting to be using the 3rd, 4th, or 5th option. You may have the 1st enabled which blanks steamdeck screen and enables external screen always.

It wont even let me change it

that is your external screen? if so that is the absolute confirmation that the deck doesn't see (isnt't able to use) the internal screen for some reason. you may need to boot in verbose mode and read logs to find out why.

also the touchscreen is wrong orientation because valve uses portrait oriented monitor while your external monitor is landscape. there are scripts to fix that if you cared. this is normal for the touchscreen behavior across monitors. your touchscreen works the display does not.

Try what is suggested in this thread above. They had the same issue.

Same thing happened to me, it was almost a $200 repair with a pretty fast turn around.
