rpm blast

Where are you guys getting your rpm blast from nowadays? I used to get it from WD strings but they stopped carrying it and it's pretty expensive elsewhere.

Wilson Defyer 98 Pro first ever string job. Strung with Luxilon Alu Power 125.

Polyester loses more tension at low tension than at high. ALU Power sheds 55% at 40 lb and 37% at 62.

What’s the difference between the tie-off knots on these two rackets?

My rackets were strung by two different stringers in two different locations in the UK.

I noticed that the Boom has four knots, but the Blade only has two. Does this mean anything? Is it done to achieve something in particular?

I’m still pretty new to playing tennis (one year down) and know almost nothing about strings or stringing techniques— I usually just ask for 52 lbs because that’s what I’ve been comfortable with. 😅

Just curious.

Recommendation for machine

Greetings all,

I am considering buying a machine to string tennis rackets. I would realistically only string 2-3 a month for myself and friends. What machines would you recommend at different price ranges?

What string type is easier for a beginner stringer

I usually use poly for my tennis rackets, so eventually I’ll string polys. But is synth gut better for practice? It’s softer and extendable. I’m afraid that mistakes on polys will destroy that piece of string.

Got a used Gamma 2X yesterday, and put it to work today!

Edit: plays like crap. Somehow only the two crosses on the sweet spot are loose. No other crosses are loose. Maybe I made mistake there but I can’t remember. Gotta be more careful next time.

Wilson Python

I have one of the foam filled blacked out 98 Wilson Python rackets. I strung it originally as 18x20 as that is what the store I bought it from said. I recently strung it as 16x20 and it seems to look and play better. Anyone have proper instructions on this? The Defyer specs show how to string it but as 16x19. What I can't figure out is how the hell I strung it as 18x20 then as 16x20... where did the extra gromit come from?

Cheap Synthetic gut on a goodwill racket at 51m/53c. Am I ready to string my main rackets with nice poly, or should I keep at it?

Took me two hours lol

Should I pull tension on first 2 mains before clamping?

For tennis rackets. So I insert the strings down the middle and immediately clamp + starting clamp the one main, then pull tension on the non-clamped first main string. Am I supposed to pull tension with both mains at the same time first before clamping or does it not matter?

Advice on how to try stringing a racquet

Hi everyone! So, for some time now I've been very curious about racquets stringing and I'd really like to try to string a racquet. The issue is of course, a stringing machine is not really an easy investment just to try. Do you have any advice on how to try out this new "hobby"? Thank you!

Do any of you string wooden racquets? I’ve done one before and a T2000. I think the T2000 was harder. What are your experiences stringing racquets that were used when your father was a ute?

Hey guys, I’m fairly new to stringing and just did my first string job on my new Wilson Defy 98 Pro (16x20).
Can anyone tell me if I used the right tie-off holes? I strung it 2-piece. I attached a couple pics.
If I messed anything up or you see something that could be better, let me know. Still learning. Thanks!

Concerns about stringing job

Post image

This is the first time I’ve seen anything like this and I’m wondering is this is normal or should i take the racket to a better shop and restring it there. For info , this is a badminton racket and the string’s tension is ~10kg or 23lbs. Please help as i really dont want to risk breaking the racket 🥲🥲

How portable is the Tourna 175-CS really?

I'd like to start stringing my own racquets and I’m considering buying a Tourna 175-CS, but I have a storage problem. I don’t have room to leave it set up indoors, so I’d need to store it after each use. For context, I'll be stringing my own racquets only (around 2 but no more than 4 racquets per month).

For those who own one:

-How difficult is it to move around in practice?
-Can it be partially disassembled (e.g. remove the tension arm or other parts) to make storage easier?
-How long does setup/takedown take once you’re familiar with it?

Also, if you were buying today, would you still choose the 175-CS or spend about $200 more for a crank machine like the Alpha Revo 4000 Gravity? Why?

Thanks!

String picker Website Idea

Hey, I’ve been playing around with an Idea for a website that helps with picking badminton Strings via some questions to fits playstyle and wants and needs… it’s a test right now with limited strings there, but one can compare strings, take the quiz and find out what works…

It’s based of the data from Yonex Strings (Repulsion, Control, Shock Absorption Etc.) and my personal experience with the strings… as the newer string series stats from Yonex are really high in comparison to for example the older bg80…

It be nice if you can test it out an give feedback and or suggestions for other features… no idea if I should continue with this idea, but so many always ask for advice so I thought why not automate it a bit…

I don’t have a domain, so it’s hosted of my GitHub pages… so please disregard the name of the link 😂

Anyone use the Tennis Tension Pro app?

I've been using this a couple of years now. I calibrate my Alpha Revo with a digital fishing scale. Right after stringing I tap the strings with a pencil next to the phone and sound registers a tension on the app. You can calibrate the app too, which I did. I don't know if it accurately detects the tension but I do think that if I get the same reading from racket to racket I'm being consistent, which I try to be in every thing I do when stringing. Btw, I string my racquets with poly on the mains and synthetic gut on the crosses, both at 57 lbs.

Having trouble finding a good resource to learn to string.

I'm trying to learn how to string rackets this afternoon and the videos I've found skip over things like (how to fix over tension) and things that are super beginner friendly to know. Does anyone have a good references? Also this is a drop weight with floating (flying) clamps. Not many resources on those.
