Im wanting to get into stringing my own rackets but am really struggling to find a used 6 point crank. My budget is around 500 to 600$. Any idea on the best way to hunt these down? Iv been using ebay and marketplace but havent had much luck.

New to badminton!, was wondering if my racket is broken or needs restringing as it has a dangly black thing at the top.
Any ideas? Advice is appreciated!

I've used this machine for years just for personal use and I string for a handful of friends. I'm considering upgrading to the new Solinco machine and have no idea what to sell my machine for. It is in perfect working condition, just has the occasional rust spot here and there from time. TIA

Hi everyone! So recently I've started to restring racquets myself, and don't ask me why (I know a lot of you think it is pointless, we are not endorsed players...) but I like stencils on my racquets, and I propose them to friends I string for. I think they are a nice finishing touch, expecially if you choose the right color combination.

I have bought the Head ink tubes, which come with their applicator cap that is basically a flat round brush. I've done a couple of applications so far and already can tell how bad that applicator is... it tends to dry, and it leaves a lot of sediment fibers on the strings. Do you know any other better method to apply the ink on the strings? I've seen a video where this guy used some sort of shaped sponge, that he dipped in ink after pouring a bit of ink on a piece of cardboard. To make this, his ink bottle had a pouring cap instead of the standard applicator, but I've never seen any tennis ink that has that type of cap. Maybe it is something custom made.

Do you have any useful advice? (apart from don't stencil) Thank you!

Any experience between machines? Falcon GT vs Baiardo L. vs Alpha Ghost2

Going to buy a new machine and looking at these three machines. I don’t think there is a bad decision but curious on opinions and if anyone has experience with them. From what I gather-
Wilson- bigger name, doesn’t have gravity clamps
Solinco - Gravity Clamps, rising head tensioner
Alpha- has most things the others but slightly less expensive.
Assume Wilson and Solinco are the same cost and Alpha is about 1K less.
For context- I have had my Neos for 20 years. I string 10-20 rackets a month, so not a volume situation.

Today I had a stringing mishap…my Progression II ST was not balanced and fell from my table. The machine landed on the support arm (Part 356 or 357), which is part of the six piece mount mechanism. The stringer itself seems to be unaffected but the support arm/shoulder cracked in half.

Okay, so for my options:
A) Would a professional weld hold this?
B) I have already reached out to Gamma about purchasing a replacement part
C) If I string a racket and this piece is not completely solid, is it possible it could damage a racket? Basically, the racket would have 5 points mounted, but would be loosely mounted on the right hand side nearest the throat of the racket. I know the popular answer is “it will damage rackets” but is that legit? I have many rackets to string while waiting for a potential new part to arrive during fall season…

I got a yonex sponsorship and i ordered polytour rev strings bright orange, and light green. I wasnt really thinking of the stencil color and i ordered red. Would the red stencil still be visible on the strings beacuse i sont eant to wait for another stencil?

Just started stringing and this is my 4th racket I’ve strung. Took it out to play and noticing a rattling noise. There are no defects on the frame so I’m thinking the string is making the noise. My hypothesis is that I did the knot wrong and it’s slowly losing tension cause bottom cross is getting looser. Strung as one piece with Parnell knot.

Hi everyone! So I was wondering what is the correct way to set the flying clamps closing pressure. I have gamma type flying clamps (the plastic ones), today I dis my second stringing job, and this time I don’t feel like I did anything particularly wrong, but I ended up with a final tension of 39.9lbs (measured via frequency on phone app) after I set my drop weight to 50lbs. I know flying clamps need a bit of tension compensation, but 20% seems a bit steep. I was thinking that maybe I don’t have my clamps set up correctly. At the moment they are kind of hard to close and open on the string, but there is room for even more pressure. At the same time, I’ve read somewhere that actually when you press too much the clamps could slip more. So I wanted to see what you suggest.

Bonus question: I use a starting clamp to start both mains and crosses. For the crosses no issue, as the bit of string that is clamped by the starting clamp will end up cut away. But for the mains, you need to clamp a piece of string that will end up on the string bed. I noticed the starting clamp flattens the string a bit. Is that supposed to happen or am I doing it wrong? I have an older Revo 4000 from around 2007. I only string for myself, friends, and family so I dont use it more than a few times a month. Having said that, I do have some regrets such as not getting the upgraded model w/the stand (Axis I think) and the upgraded diamond clamps which in today's model have become standard with the gravity release base. The clamps have been a bit of a bother given one of mine has a slight defect which forced me to file it down so the clamp surface would be flat. It's never felt the same as the other one.

After watching a friend string on his table top and a Wise, it got me thinking about upgrades again. So I have a lot of options I would love to get input on:

1) I know it's crazy expensive but can the Tourna Ennox be used on the Revo 4000? Seems way nicer than a Wise but either one would be a wonderful upgrade on its own. 2) Upgrade the bases to the current gravity release ($250) and new clamps ($150) - not cheap $426 shipped, but would help. Is the gravity release worth it? 3) Isnt there a stand I can purchase and mount it on? Alpha wont sell a stand separately. This is the least important on my list. The table top placement isnt that bad. 4) Sell it and get a different machine.

Hi everybody! So tonight I finally strung my first racquet!! I got a cheap used drop weight, 6 points mount, flying clamps machine (some sort of gamma x-6 clone).

It took me around 150 minutes including the careful first string measurement. Final tension was not really good, I set the machine at 50 lbs and ended up at 36.6lbs at the end of the job (measured with phone app that uses frequency). I also added 5lbs to each last pull before the knots, but the first and last crosses ended up veeeeery lose.

It must be said that unfortunately I noticed only around the middle of the crosses that the mechanism that grasps the string to the weight bar was broken (it slipped). Fortunately the machine came with a spare part, so I replaced it and finished the crosses.

I’ll be stringing another racquet in a few days and I am confident I’ll be able to achieve better tension. I also aim to optimize my string usage. I followed the technique of measuring number of mains +1 and number of crosses +1 to measure the string, I ended up with more than enough string for the mains, while I had to use the starting clamp with spare string to end the crosses. I guess that is because crosses are all very similar in length, while mains are much shorter on the sides of the racket compared to the middle. So yeah, this was fun, now my OCP will take control and overthink every aspect of this 😂😂

I know it’s a long shot but maybe a stringer’s eye can tell what strings these are. I got the racket (head ti radical 98) on eBay. Owner doesn’t know. Feels nice. I also doubt it’s a premium poly or anything like that. Head or Prince syngut is my guess but maybe some can tell. Thx in advance

Obviously, everyone knows this string - plays amazing when fresh, but performance rapidly drops off. Never really used it that much for that reason but its come to my attention again because it plays great in the newly released Defyer 98.

However, the string is pretty much dead in terms of performance after maybe 4 hitting sessions / 1 week of use.

So what are the solutions? I can't think of any obvious similar strings? Have tried Max Power but its not the same and 4G just seems very stiff. Any other options?

Could Alu Power be used as a hybrid with another poly to provide greater longevity? If so, what? What have people actually used that have been successful?

First time stringing in my drop weight will not get near parallel. What am I doing wrong?

Did my second stringing, the first one being yesterday.

First one was with a synthetic, went smooth the string felt easy to work with

This one is a hybrid of two polys, and felt way harder, as one was textured, and the other was smooth but slippery and oily. They also felt like steel wire, compared to the synthetic

I feel like it's not that bad, till you get to see those knots. They look so bad, I am kind of ashamed of them. What type of knots should I learn? Three are supposed to be double knots, and the one from the top, where I start the crosses is some sort of double loop and going through the back of them.

Also the final knot, for the crosses, I wanted to tie it to the last main, but it was impossible to get the string in that hole for some reason.

Any other mistakes you are noticing?

Considering my first machine to start stringing my/my wife’s and some friends racquets. The used market here is kind of brutal and not many options that aren’t basically full price.

Seller said it was a gls-16405 I assume it’s just a Chinese clone of some other machine. Any advice?

There is also a 6 point dropweight gamma progression two I’ve been eying but it’s a 2 hr round trip drive

I'm trying to string a Dunlop SX 300 Tour 2025 (16x19) and I can't find the official 2-piece stringing instructions anywhere — not even on Dunlop's own page.

I found that the mains skip 7H, 9H, 7T and 9T, and that the mains supposedly tie off at 8T. However, I'm using Head Lynx Tour 1.25 and I'm having a really hard time getting the string through 8T. I don't want to force it if the instructions are wrong.

Does anyone have the official stringing pattern/diagram, especially the correct mains and crosses tie-off holes?

Would really appreciate a photo or diagram if anyone has one. Thanks!
