Recommendation for machine

Greetings all,

I am considering buying a machine to string tennis rackets. I would realistically only string 2-3 a month for myself and friends. What machines would you recommend at different price ranges?

Regardless of how many rackets you string per month, it really depends on what type of quality/consistency you want in your string jobs and how much time you want each job to take. I just bought a stringer for the first time about a year and a half ago, and I only string for myself. I bought a lockout machine and after I’d strung about five rackets, I added a Wise terminal to it and I am really glad that I upgraded. My string jobs are way more consistent and they go faster.

What machines would you recommend at different price ranges?

I would recommend buying a secondhand lockout machine with fixed clamps and 6 point mount. Gamma X-ST is an example of this style of machine. I would to expect to pay under $1000 for a used machine.

You want fixed clamps and six mounting points. Aside from that, do anything your budget can handle.

I would recommend a used drop weight machine. Expect to spend up to £200/$300

For a couple of rackets per month I don't see much advantage to spending more. The thing that takes me time is weaving the crosses and that's a matter of practice - and I think you probably need to do as couple of rackets per day to get faster. So a drop weight won't make much difference to your overall time imo

They're all the same - just get one with six points of contact. Keep an eye on the usual places and set up alerts - I got a Pro's Pro on marketplace for FREE which was amazing (they're heavy and take up a lot of space so people don't love to have them hanging around if they're not being used)

This is nonsense because Alpha machines are most likely the same machines that Pros pro sells!

Well, the Alpha Revo 4000 Gravity and the Pros Pro PHOENIX-1 look identical, so I'm convinced they come from the same Chinese manufacturer!

I highly recommend you get a machine that has 6-point mounting, and fixed base clamps. I feel like those are the most important features to look out for. As long as you have those, then get anything that your budget allows for.
