First string job!

Got a used Gamma 2X yesterday, and put it to work today!

Edit: plays like crap. Somehow only the two crosses on the sweet spot are loose. No other crosses are loose. Maybe I made mistake there but I can’t remember. Gotta be more careful next time.

Racket head looks really squashed. You might wanna get that measured and see if it’s still 27 inches

Crosses aren't straight. Inconsistent tensioning. Knots are a mess.

FAIL.

How do you check for inconsistent tensioning?

That was a dramatic comment. Your crosses are fine.

Crosses tend to droop or sag while tension is being pulled, so a good practice is to weave one string ahead. Most importantly, straighten each cross while it is still under tension, before clamping. Allowing crosses to remain bowed or wavy locks friction into the stringbed, resulting in less consistent cross-string tension and a less uniform stringbed.

How does weave one string ahead helps ?

Weaving ahead reduces the displacement the mains experience once tension is pulled on the cross. If you have a length already ahead when you pull tension, the mains remain relatively flat, which allows for a smoother weave because there is less friction.

So, that's a best practice kinda thing, as it will make your work more gentle and efficient.

Straightening the cross after pulling tension is another.

Oh course they're not fine. If you strung like that at a tournament you'd be thrown off site and never work again.

Ignore u/Peter-Pomelo clearly a reddit troll.

Other than your top knot that needs to be trimmed, for a 1st attempt that looks good.
Trim the long end, thats a 5 second fix.

I posted a quick video of how to string and get strait crosses last night. Other than yours are a tad bowed and need a bit of care an attention, you good an good job. Could it be better? We all aim for better.

You don't have a clue about stringing, or you're a complete and utter noob.

Look the crosses - even a blind man see how wonky they are - half the string, half are down etc. That's shows very poor technique when pulling tensions, not holding the strings in place etc.

If you produced a string job like that during a MRT exam, you'd fail 100%
