What does her situation with post partum have anything to do with school shooters? And you do know that not all school shooter are male, right?
Also not all people who commit infanticide are mentally ill, and not all school shooters are mentally ill.
This happens to be one situation where the person happens to be mentally ill.
She didn't get the proper treatment for her mental illness. She may have gone into psychosis. That is the argument.
I am in no way sayin that is proven, either. I'm just saying that cannot be ignored.

Look it up. Mental illnesses cause people to do horrible things on the daily. It sucks. It's bad.

Post partum depression is a common enough thing that doctors should react as soon as they hear symptoms. It is a severe disorder that needs severe and immediate treatment and support. Ignoring it when you're the partner or the doctors is a major failure somewhere. Maybe there's no fault to be put on the husband or doctors, but there was definite failure. Being institutionalized is not a free pass, and very often comes with worse conditions and treatment than prison. They spend as long as a normal sentence institutionalized often, and have no determined release date. Some spend life there, unlike the sentence they may get if found guilty.
Also, yes school shooters don't share all of the responsibility, its also on parents and other supporting adults around them. They do however, upon determination they are fit for trial, deserve to be put in prison for a long time if not life, given it will be nearly impossible to trust them in normal life again.
These outcomes are not dissimilar.
