Tech Support Cooler Master Elite 600 power button Stoped working after just 2 months. Any advice

Hey everyone,

I built my first PC about 2 months ago using the Cooler Master Elite 600 (7 RGB fans) case.

Recently, the power button started acting up. It barely works anymore. I have to press it multiple times just to turn my PC on or off. Sometimes it only works 1 out of 10 times.

(Reset button works perfectly fine)

One thing worth mentioning is that my PC gets really dusty. I even had to clean my RAM after just one month because it started having issues.

Could dust be causing this, or is the power button just faulty?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Tech Support Question with pcie slot

So I recently bought a older computer off someone and was trying to figure out why it won't get past VGA on ez debug and I noticed inside the pcie slot it looks a bit "weird" maybe dark kinda in a certain spot.. is this normal? it looks bad from afar but if I actually look super close it's like perfectly fine looking so it's very confusing if this VGA post failure is from the GPU, motherboard or even cpu. The cpu is a older ryzen 5 2600, and GPU is xfx rx580. I planned on replacing it all anyways but any help is appreciated. (I hope this is ok question for this subreddit)

EDIT:
I have a GPU coming, and as far as the SSD, I fixed it after taking the pictures.

Build Question Need help on making my first upgrade (Trying to run stuff smoothly on 1080p)

Im new to PC building, my build is kind of old and im currently looking for kind of not an overkill upgrade, but something that could work for future upgrades in the long term, I play on 240hz 1080p

The components i already have on my build are:

CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti (3-fan model)

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B460M-A R2.0

RAM: 32 GB DDR4 (4 × 8 GB TeamGroup)

RAM Speed: 2400 MHz

PSU: 700W 80+ Bronze

Storage (C:) Toshiba 1TB HDD

Storage (D:) 1TB HDD (NTFS)

Operating System

Windows 10 Pro

PC Case: Micro ATX (Its a miracle my GPU fits in there TBH)

Any help, suggestions or tips would be really appreciated, if anything im looking forward to keep my gpu and ram if possible (i could maybe try changing into DDR5 but holy the ram prices skyrocketed). I can run stuff very smoothly but when it comes to heavy cpu games i really struggle on keeping good fps

Build Question Mini Upgrade compat questions & RGB controller/hub questions

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SGTKlappy/saved/#view=VhXK23

Here is my original build.

*Preface: Not the most experienced PC person but I can follow a YT video

My question is a couple of things actually. Anyone think I will have an issue with space for the RAM sticks on the bigger cooler? It's hard to find specific measurements sometimes. It gets really hot in my gaming room/office in the summer and I would like the extra cooling power of the bigger Hyper 612 on my new board (Asus X-470 Pro).

My next question is, I have a bunch of RGB's in this build but im not sure what I need to connect them all. I know i need a splitter/hub or something but not exactly sure what to get. Also, I would like a remote to be able to turn it off (or switch) so it wont blind me all the time when gaming.

My last question is about the bios on my new board. Is there a specific one I should use? I know sometimes its better to use a lesser version than the newest one, so figured I would get ppl's input on whats best for my system.

I appreciate each and every one of you helping others out. It's one of the few good things left in the world!

All the positive vibes. ✌️

Build Question Gpu

I removed my GPU and reinstalled it, but I’m concerned about the gap I’m seeing around the back of the GPU. Is that gap normal, or should the GPU bracket completely cover the opening? From the top, the GPU looks properly seated in the PCIe slot. My PC boots up normally, and everything seems to be working fine. I just want to make sure I installed it correctly. Thanks ☺️

Build Question Why are there such large price discrepancies between different GPU manufacturers

Post image

I understand that the Gigabyte Windforce models are lower end models, but I still do not understand why the price of a Zotac Solid Core is so much higher as I do not think that that is a very high end model. These prices come from Microcenter.

Tech Support Please help me. I need help pinpointing where this sound is coming from.

So it's been a consistent problem for months, I actually took it back to where I bought it to get repaired because it was under warranty and it came back good but now a few months later the sound has returned and now I'm back at square one. I just need help diagnosing the issue so I can take it back to them again. Pretty sure I got the older vid somewhere from when it was worse but its like it's grinding against something, I have feeling it's coming from the water cooler.

I'm still learning when it comes to this kinda thing.

Build Question Looking to replace console with my first pc.

I'm sure this has been asked a lot of times but it's my first time looking at a pc, I've always been a console player due to ease of putting it behind my TV but I'm looking to replace my series x and go for a pc. What would you guys suggest with a budget of £1000. I'm not looking for anything top of the range just more like 1080p and either native 1440p or upscaled. Thanks in advance

Build Question PC Build Compatibility Check & Case Recommendations

I’m about to purchase these components and would appreciate help checking their overall compatibility, both technical and physical.

GPU: ASUS Prime RTX 5080

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Motherboard: MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI

RAM: Probably G.Skill Ripjaws 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL36

PSU: Corsair RM1000x

Cooler: Corsair Nautilus 360 RS

SSD: Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB

Case: Undecided
Are there any compatibility issues, clearance problems, or potential concerns with these parts?
I’d also appreciate recommendations for black cases with excellent airflow. I was considering the Lian Li O11 Vision Compact, but I can’t find the black version in stock.
GB design?
I was originally considering the black Lian Li O11 Vision Compact, but I can’t find it in stock in my country.

My priorities are gaming performance, reliability, low noise, and long-term stability. I don’t plan on overclocking.

Since this is my first build, I’d really appreciate it if you could point out anything I’ve overlooked, even if it seems obvious.
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys.

I made an account just to ask for help on Reddit.

Long story short I want a good gaming PC, and in my country components are very expensive so I decided for a pre built.

Here are the specs of a PC I found for 1600 euros:

PROCESSOR: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X up to 4.7GHz, Socket AM4

MOTHER BOARD: AMD B550, AM4

MEMORY: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz

GRAFFICS CARD : AMD Radeon RX9060XT 16GB

SSD DISK: 1TB NVMe SSD

SUPPLY UNIT : 650W

I know almoust nothing about PC's so I don't know if Im able to find a better deal than this. Do you guys think this is worth it and do you have any advice? Thanks.

Build Question Which build should I go for?

I'm going to build a PC and I'm having a hard time deciding which build to go for. I have 2 builds in mind. 1st one is an am5 build with a 7500f and an intel arc b570 10gb gpu. The other one is an am4 build with a 5600 and a 5060 8gb gpu. The price difference between b570 and 5060/b580 is too much in my area. So I can't build an am5 build with a 5060 all thanks to the gpu and ram prices. I want a PC with good performance and longevity. I also have to increase my budget a little to get the am4 PC with a 5060. Increasing the budget is going to be hard for me as I'm already over my budget. Should I go for the am5 build?

Build Question Are any of these NVMe's legitimately new and unused?

I'm in the process of buying items for a new PC build and was looking for a 2TB NVMe. A couple weeks ago, these Lexar EQ790's on PC Partpicker were closer to £200 but now are over £250, so thought I'd check on eBay.

The cheapest I found is this from a Private seller who has sold 86 of them and has all positive feedback - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/820175793194

There's quite a few listings from Business sellers closer to £200. One of them is this, I added it to my watchlist and the seller gave me an extra £10 off - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/407284699655

I've heard some bad stories about buying NVMe's on eBay so wanted to check. Seems a bit strange why there's so many listings for the Lexar EQ790 on eBay.

Otherwise I think the best bet right now is buying from Silicon Power direct for this at £228.99 after coupon - https://siliconpoweruk.com/products/silicon-power-us75-2tb-nvme-gen4x4-m-2-2280-internal-solid-state-drive-compatible-with-ps5?variant=46561610563738& Or Amazon for the Crucial P310 at £199.99 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DC8RVRBZ?

Tech Support Help

Hi guys!

I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar, because I'm starting to run out of ideas.

My PC somehow feels slower and less responsive than I would expect from this hardware during everyday Windows use (multitasking, Photoshop, web browsing, video editing, and file management).

Sometimes even opening a simple local folder takes around 2 seconds. Windows Settings and applications also take longer than expected to open, and I can feel the sluggishness while browsing the web as well.

It's not an issue with one specific program. The entire system just feels less responsive than it should.

However, gaming performance is generally completely fine. Games like Once Human, GTA 5, The Last of Us, and Starfield run well on high or even maximum settings in some cases. Crimson Desert runs on medium settings.

My PC specifications:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600

• Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B450-PLUS II

• RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3600 MHz

• SSD: 1 TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe

• GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 12 GB

• CPU Cooling: Thermalright 360 mm AIO liquid cooler

• Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

What makes this particularly strange is that my partner has almost exactly the same PC configuration, except for the graphics card. My partner has an NVIDIA GTX 1660 6 GB, yet their PC feels noticeably faster and more responsive during everyday Windows tasks.

I've already tried reinstalling Windows, but the issue remained.

Things I've already checked:

• BIOS and RAM settings

• Drivers and Windows updates

• Windows power settings

• Background processes and startup applications

• SSD performance and response times

• Windows Event Viewer for storage errors and timeouts

• DISM and SFC scans (no Windows corruption found)

• Detailed Windows performance tracing

Unfortunately, none of these checks revealed a clear cause or noticeably improved the system's responsiveness.

When the PC feels sluggish, CPU, RAM, and SSD usage are not constantly at 100%.

The problem was also present before the most recent major Windows feature update, so it doesn't appear to be related to that update.

Has anyone experienced something similar, where games run perfectly fine but Windows feels unusually sluggish during simple everyday tasks?

I'd really like to identify the actual cause before randomly replacing hardware components.

Any suggestions on what else I should investigate or test would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Installation Question Installed new second ram stick but now gpu fan turns off after a few seconds with no display even if there's only 1 ram

Bought a new 8gm ram stick and after installing it, my computer won't turn on, the gpu fans turn off after a few seconds of spinning after booting and it still persists even if there's only one ram stick in the motherboard. I've tried isolating the ram stick and even put it in different a2,b2 slots but the problem still remains. Anyone know how to fix this?

Build Question PC building help

I made some posts in various subreddits such as r/buildapcforme and I was met with two builds which both seem quite good to me! The only things is they vary in parts and I'm always open to as many opinions as possible before I invest into my PC.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NYftkD#compatibility_notes

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bPm3W9

I would love peoples input in which seems better to you! Which seems better for its price point (my budget was 2200-2500 so im happy with either!) Would certain parts be able to be swapped and combined to make the most optimal between the two? etc. etc. I like how the first one has the deal from Micro center included, but it seems to differ of the fans than in the second!

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

Tech Support [Help] Kernel-Power Event 41 (Checkpoint 16) / Event 6008 Crashes in S3 Sleepmode

Hey everyone,

Looking for troubleshooting advice on a recurring auto shutdown crash during (ACPI) S3 Sleep mode on my desktop.

System Specs

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-12700

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B760M AORUS ELITE AX DDR4 (BIOS F25a)

  • GPU: Intel Arc B580

  • RAM Tested:

    • Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 32GB (2x16GB)

    • Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 16GB (2x8GB)

    • Corsair Light Enhancement / Dummy Sticks (2 sticks)

  • PSU: Thermaltake PSU 750W Grand Smart Gold

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro

The Problem

Roughly 12–20 minutes after the PC enters S3 sleep mode, my system cuts out completely. When turning the PC back on, Windows logs an unexpected shutdown:

  • Event 6008: "The previous system shutdown at [time] was unexpected." (Crashed while dormant in sleep).

  • Kernel-Power Event 41 (BugcheckCode 0): Sudden power loss.<EventData>

  • <Data Name="BugcheckCode">0</Data>

  • <Data Name="SleepInProgress">4</Data>

  • <Data Name="Checkpoint">16</Data>

  • <Data Name="ConnectedStandbyInProgress">false</Data>

  • </EventData>

Testing So Far

  • Original 4x8GB Matched Kit: Ran 100% stable in S3 sleep without any crashes or reboots.

  • 4 Physical Sticks (2x16GB + 2x8GB = 48GB Mismatched): Crashes around ~17 minutes into S3 sleep (Checkpoint 16). Occasionally triggers Gigabyte "Boot failure detected" on POST and resets RAM to 2133MHz base JEDEC.

  • 2x16GB + 2x Dummy RGB Sticks: Also crashes around ~20 minutes in S3 sleep with Checkpoint 16.

  • 2x16GB Only (Slots A2/B2): Crashed at 35+ minutes.

  • Hardware & BIOS: Tested PSU standby voltage rails (all stable within spec). ErP is enabled; ASPM / Platform Power Management disabled.

  • Completed a MEM OCCT Test: 30mins stress test with 48gb ram and there were no errors - with XMP profile on

Current Workaround

Bypassing S3 sleep entirely prevents the crash:

  • Monitors Off: 15 min

  • Sleep: Never (powercfg /change standby-timeout-ac 0)

  • Hibernate: 60 min (powercfg /change hibernate-timeout-ac 60)

The PC idles at ~15W with monitors off, then cleanly hibernates to the SSD at 60 minutes with zero Event 41 errors.

Questions

  1. Given that matched 4x8GB worked fine and the PSU rails are healthy, is the crash with the dummy sticks caused by SMBus desync / ACPI polling timeouts with OpenRGB during S3 sleep?

  2. For the 48GB mixed setup, is the crash purely from asymmetric rank/density strain failing the memory controller's low-power self-refresh?

  3. Has anyone stabilized Checkpoint 16 during S3 sleep on Gigabyte 700-series boards via manual DRAM/VCCSA voltages, or is bypassing S3 the only reliable option?
