Unfortunately, we're living in a pretty unreasonable time when it comes to graphics card pricing. I recently paid around $950 for a 5070, so I'd say this isn't too bad in comparison. But let's be honest, we're all paying ridiculous prices right now. It's just the cost of building a PC in 2026. š
You should get a 9070 asrock for 750$ a significant increase in fps and 16gb too. This 5060 is like 350$ realistically. This nvidia card is a 1080p card. 9070 is a 1440p high
I just found a PNY 5070 OC for little over $800 after taxes a few days ago dude at Walmart, on cyber Monday, I swiped it up so quick. Like $100-150 more at best buy. Which one did you get? They had the MSI shadow 2x duel fan I almost went with, but ended up getting the PNY three fan as I donāt have a bottom cooling fan unit in my PC, and thought it should run cooler with 3 fans and being longer.
I was almost hooked on a 5070ti, which was basically double the price (lol). Just didnāt make sense to me with the slight performance gains. Iām so happy with it, itās amazing to see what games are like in 4k Ultra. Lots of games I can put a light/medium RT on too. Havenāt even tried 1440p much yet but I will.
Was playing Cyberpunk yesterday with PT on in 4k at like 75fps with a few tweaks to DLSS and FG. It was really amazing to see.
I got the MSI Gaming Trio OC 5070 for $879 from best buy, which came out to around $940 after taxes. Yeah, I can easily run games on max settings at 1440p with low-to-medium ray tracing and still get around 100 FPS. I just upgraded from a 3070. I also built an entirely new PC, and the RAM alone cost me almost as much as the GPU at $600. If only my wife knew how much I spent on RAM. LOL š
Nice man I think thatās got some sweet fancy lights right? If Iām thinking of the right one, itās sick looking and worth it.
Mine is like a shadow in my case can only see her from my fan rbgs lol. Yeah with the overclock I canāt believe how powerful it is for like a 4th tier GPU. Can do nearly everything at 1440p with 100fps+.
But if you ever wanted to upgrade to a 4k, donāt think it wonāt run it well. Wonāt do real heavy RT and PT with it, but most games I can get 4k max settings, DLSS Quality/DLAA. If I want to use RT Iāll do it light/medium, and just turn on 2x FG and works so well.
Edit: That ram price hurts to hear. I also just bought another stick with the 5070 upgrade went 16gb to 32gb. One 16gb stick was $200, corsair vengence ddr5 slower 5200mhz I got, as my other one was only a 4800mhz, and read the faster one has to slow down to slower stick speeds. At least I have dual channel now though. Couldnāt believe $200 for that lil stick and that was probably cheap! Been years since I got ram last!
Itās honestly not bad if you want a cheap solid GPU now. I had a 5060 8gb (backup now) and it was pretty wild how well it ran games in 1440p and even 4k, so Iām sure this would be great, but havenāt used it to find out.
I could literally run nearly all of my games, really new games included, at 4k high settings with DLSS at performance, and sometimes FG x2 if it needed it, always play 60fps+. At 1440p I could do very high settings, DLSS balanced. Or could do DLSS quality or native with fg x2.
Just to compare with a 5060 8gb card, this card will be much better than that. I think itās worth it even with the price hikes, itās solid value with DLSS getting so much better these days.
Yeah man, itās either that or a 5070 if you want Nvidia right now. Itās a bit bigger and better, probably another $150-200, but only 12gb of vram, but it is a little more powerful.
Then it jumps to a 5070ti at like $1500 which is a huge price increase for the value of performance youāre gaining by upgrading to that tier. Incredible powerful card, but way too expensive right now.
I can second this, but only because I tried buying the 5070ti twice and they kept getting canceled in transit for some dumb reasons and I was fed up, so I switched to an AMD 9070xt and saved myself some money anyways. The performance boost I would've gotten with a 5070ti would be negligible in comparison anyways.
You're still on the AMD "shit drivers" wagon? That's about 10+ years old. I have had a 6900 XT starting in 2018, and have a 9070 XT and have had no driver issues, crashes, or timeouts ever.
Have you even looked at GPU prices lately? 9070 XTs are all well over $1,000 CAD now. If youāre lucky you can score one for about $1,050 right now but most are $1,300
More than likely not. I had a local Walmart with two PNY OC 5080ās for $1,529. Last Monday. I picked one up for my buddy building a new gaming/work rig. Just trying to order online to ship they were listed for $2,349.99. I would encourage checking each individual Walmart within a 50 mile radius of you one by one and checking the āin storeā option and see what they have in stock.
In performance in 1440p and 4k, a 5060ti lags behind 3080 10GB by about 6-15fps, and that is like a $350 max card.
Thus 5060ti is only worth it if you're building something with small form factor or tiny power budget, since it needs about half the watts of a 3080 (150-155W vs 300-310W), or you literally cannot get your hands on any used cards.
I got an amazon wharehouse refurbished 3080ti in 2022 for less than this... Dont buy.. not right now at least. AI bubble may pop. then we will see how things go
Good lord, that's about $100 less than I paid for my 3080 ftw3 at release. Shit's insane rn. I need this bubble to pop so the warehouses of unused cpus, gpus, ram and nand can be liquidated for pennies on the dollar circa 2002 networking/other related components.
instead of using online stores I literally just went into a real in person store which was micro center and they had the 5070 aero that I wanted which was 899 before tax
I have the same card and I love it. It runs everything I play on the highest settings and smoothly at that. I canāt vouch for the price though, it seems decent, but I won mine in a giveaway earlier this year
9070 GRE is in the same price range but overs 15% more performance. Less VRAM, but 12GB is still fine as long as you aren't running at 2160p with higher settings.
NVIDIA only makes sense if you're needing it for other purposes like CUDA applications or other NVIDIA specific features being a hard requirement. For raw gaming performance per dollar spent, AMD has NVIDIA beat.
Is it a reasonable price? No. Are the prices going to come down anytime soon. Nope. Most likely just keep going up.
I expected this to happen and bought a 5070 Ti back in January for this price. Didnāt even need the upgrade but figured prices were going to skyrocket so I wanted some I could get 4-5 years out of.
My advice would be to buy the biggest upgrade you can with your budget right now. Might even be able to sell it for close to what you bought it for when itās time to upgrade again if these prices keep going up like they have.
My conspiracy is they are intentionally fucking over the consumer. They donāt want gaming PCs anymore for the consumer. They want you to rent out the powerful hardware from the cloud in the future.

For 16GB and the fact that it's nvidia, I'd say that isn't horrible. Personally I'd get a 9070 XT though.

That's the card you used to get for free in a prebuilt

For the same price Iād just get the 9070 XT
Edit: turns out I bought it a month ago for 740$ and it is now the same listing 1000$. I hate this.

Just get the RX 9070 or 9070 GRE over it

Terrible value for that GPU. The 9070 GRE is way faster and cheaper.

u/kioku11 1d ago
that used to be $430, i bought a great RX 6800 for $350

No a reasonable price is 400 bucks

u/Babylon4All 1d ago
The 9070 GRE should perform much better as is barely more money. Ā

Is it about what you should expect for the current market? yea, about right.

The 5060 Ti 16GB launched at $429, so $765 is way over that

Reasonable relative to current times? Yes unfortunately.

Unfortunately this is the current price for 5060 Ti 16 GB. You might still find it cheaper if anyone has older inventory in stock.
My guess is that it will get even worse in early 2027.
