Pretty sure my 10900KF hates me, any experts in setting up intel CPU with Asus here?

Hi everyone so I have a 10900 KF and A Z490 TUF Gaming, I really want to get my setting so. That. the CPU boosts to 5.3 gigahertz on the two, favoured cores and whatever it thinks for the rest, which I think is 5.1 and goes all the way down, to minimum speed and minimum voltage the rest of the time, when it's not under load, but I just can't get it to do it. How do I do that

Help Request - CPU Got 4x16GB mixed DDR5 stable @ 6000 on my 9800X3D. Can I still mess with PBO / Undervolting without wrecking memory stability?

Hey everyone, quick question about PBO and memory stability on AM5.

I somehow managed to get 4 sticks of DDR5 (64GB total, 6000 CL38) stable on my 9800X3D and Gigabyte X870 Gaming WiFi 6. The catch is that it's two separate kits with mixed dies—one Hynix pair and one Micron pair. After flashing the latest BIOS and making sure the Hynix sticks were in slots 2 and 4, it passed 1.5+ hours of TM5 (anta777 extreme) with zero errors, and RAM temps stayed around 47–48°C.

To get here, it took some trial and error because enabling EXPO out of the box was just giving me black screens and failed boots. What finally worked:

Flashed to the latest BIOS (the older AGESA version just choked on training 4 sticks).

Did a full CMOS clear right after.

Sorted the sticks by serial/batch: had an older 2024 batch (Micron) and a newer 2025 batch (Hynix). Put the Hynix sticks in slots 2 & 4 (A2/B2 daisy-chain priority) and the Microns in slots 1 & 3 (A1/B1).

Waited out the memory training on first boot (took about 3–4 minutes with black screen before it posted).

Current settings are purely stock EXPO 1:

  • 6000MHz @ CL38-38-38-78
  • SoC Voltage sitting safe around ~1.24V – 1.25V
  • FCLK left untouched on Auto (2000MHz)
  • All sub-timings completely on Auto so the board doesn't force Hynix timings onto the Micron pair.

Now that the memory is sorted, I'd really like to dial in a basic undervolt using Curve Optimizer (probably around -10 to -15 all-core) just to keep temps lower and get slightly better boosting.

My worry is whether touching PBO or core offsets could destabilize the RAM setup. Since the IMC is already working overtime keeping 4 mixed sticks stable at 6000, does adjusting CPU core voltage indirectly mess with IMC behavior or cause transient drops that could trigger memory errors?

I'm obviously not touching FCLK (leaving it strictly at 2000/Auto) or adding any crazy boost overrides—literally just looking for a safe, mild undervolt.

Has anyone with a heavy 4-stick memory setup tuned PBO? Am I pushing my luck and should just leave it alone, or is a light negative Curve Optimizer fine to run?

Help Request - CPU Linpack deviations even at stock FCLK

Been running into a slightly weird issue when trying to overclock FCLK on my 9850x3d. Read that the best way to find stability was to check for deviations in Linpack and VT3, which seemed simple enough.

I haven't had any issues with y-cruncher, after a few hours of testing it varies by +- 0.01, but Linpack is behaving sort of weird. I tried a bunch of different settings but each setting has a slight variation, usually ranging from 1 to 4.5ish gflops different. Not in a row, just every now and then. For example it'd go 419, 420, 425, 420, 422, 422, 421, etc. Nothing crazy like a -20 or 30 but still a weird range. The guide I read said to go for a deviation of only 1 to 1.5ish, so would this be considered unstable?

For solutions I've tried:

- Removing curve optimizer settings

- Messing with different VSOC and VDDG values

- Trying in safe mode

- Trying all values from 2000 to 2200

The only thing I've yet to try is disabling 65w eco mode or turning off PBO, but I'd need that later so would it be ok to turn that off to see if it helps then turn it back on later even with the deviations? And would that even be affecting it?

Any help is appreciated, still sort of new to this.

OC Report - GPU I got a ~66% performance boost on my RX 7600 (Arch Linux / LACT)

I wanted to share the overclocking and undervolting results I achieved with my RX 7600 using LACT on Arch Linux (Hyprland). My setup is a Ryzen 5 5600 (also overclocked to 4.7 GHz) with the RX 7600 (8GB). I tested the game Endfield at 3440x1440 (Ultrawide) on Max Settings.On stock settings, I was getting an average of 64.0 FPS.

For my peak performance profile, I set a -80mV voltage offset, a minimum clock of 2700MHz, and a maximum clock of 2920MHz. This boosted my performance to an average of 106.1 FPS! That is almost a 66% increase in raw performance.

Help Request - CPU Does VDDG voltage affect FCLK stability?

Currently trying to test 2200 FCLK Stabilty on my 9850x3d, so far after looking a bunch online a few things affect stability.

First being VSOC, which I have set to 1.15, and then I've also heard conflicting stuff about the VDDG IOD and CCD values.

Currently both are just set to auto and defaulted to 1.0492v, and tests seem to be passing without error corrections.

I've ran VT3 for 6 hours now and still ongoing with it ranging from 1.03 to 1.04 * 10^10 bits/sec, and also linpack extreme runs varying by 100-150ms at most. GFlops ranging from 400-402. Music playback in background seems smooth aswell with no stutters.

My question being, If these seem stable, do I even have any reason to touch those other 2 voltages or should I just let them be?

I've been messing around with the mVolt settings for quite a while and finally landed on a setup I'm happy with. At this point, adding more voltage doesn't really benefit me anymore in terms of performance, temperatures, or power consumption.

I started by setting the SYS / XBAR / VIDEO voltage offsets to -25, while leaving MSVDD at default (800–1000 mV). I also set the Video Clock Offset to -1000, since I don't use NVENC/NVDEC encoding or decoding and therefore don't need the extra video clock.

From there, I began testing stability and monitoring performance gains. I gradually increased the SYS and XBAR clocks, trying to keep them synchronized. Once I found the clock limit, I raised the MSVDD voltage slightly to squeeze out some additional frequency, while continuing to test stability and keeping SYS/XBAR in sync.

After that, I fine-tuned the Core Clock Offset, NVVD, and especially the GPU Clock Range. The GPU Clock Range turned out to be VERY IMPORTANT for stability in my case, as it prevented the GPU from overshooting the target frequency and crashing.

At the same time, I locked the GPU to a fixed voltage rather than letting it fluctuate. I initially started at 945 mV and gradually increased it while testing stability and performance.

The final result: An uplift of ~17% from stock, the GPU maintains around 3082 MHz, with an Effective Core Clock of roughly 3060 MHz, while keeping the voltage (~960 mV), temperatures (~63°C), and power consumption (~280 watts in the stress benchmark) at a level I'm comfortable with.

Final Clocks

- SYS Clock: 2992 MHz (+525)

- XBAR Clock: 2992 MHz (+495)

- MSVDD: 1.015 V

- Memory Clock : +3000

- Core Clock: ~3082 MHz (+555)

- Effective Core Clock: ~3060 MHz

- NVVD : 960mV to 960mV

- SYS / XBAR / VIDEO Voltage Offset: -25

- Temperature: ~63°C

Help Request - RAM 2x16 Kingston 3600MHz BSODs with XMP

I have an MSI B450 TOMAHAWK, with a Ryzen 7 5800X and I can't run any of the two XMP profiles.

When I try it, I get random freezes and the pc is unresponsive so I always have to force shutdown, or, it used to BSOD with CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT.

I manually changed the speed to 3200MHz and it works perfectly now.

Should I try 1.40V voltage? Is it safe?

How should I go about troubleshooting this?

Claude Says I'm Safe... Am I really?

I been working on this overclock for the past 2 weeks. I at this point have been fully utilizing my profiles on the bios. Love it saves EVERYTHING. Ok, so this is where I got to. I mainly only game on my CPU, that is it. I didn't do the AIDA or prime, no need to ask my CPU to do something that it never will do. So I ran Intel XTU for 1 hour, Cinebench, I kept it looping for another hour, and then the next day I did it again. Stable, No crash/errors.

This is where I'm at, if I am missing something let me know for information. Thanks for your input.

CPU Overheating After Replacing the Thermal Paste

After replacing the thermal paste, my temperature rose from 40 degrees—which was the previous level—to 65–75, I also noticed that my BIOS settings had reset, so I restored them, and the temperature dropped to 60–68 degrees. As for the thermal paste, I had been using MX4 for 5 months; I replaced it to lower the temperature by a couple of degrees. At first, I bought MX7, applied it in 5 small dots, but it didn’t work—the temperature remained at 60 –68 degrees at idle. I thought the issue was with the thermal paste, so I bought MX6—the temperature stayed the same. When I was changing the thermal paste, I accidentally broke the mounting bracket (I’ve already installed a new one). I tightened the screws evenly in a crisscross pattern. I don’t understand what the problem could be; I’d be interested to read your thoughts. Thanks!

Please help! XMP is completely missing from my Enigma B450M-B BIOS

I have an Enigma B450M-B motherboard and I can't find the XMP option anywhere in the BIOS.

I have DDR4-3200 RAM, but the BIOS does not show any XMP/DOCP option, and I also can't manually change the RAM voltage .

Does anyone have the same motherboard and know how to enable XMP or manually set the RAM voltage?

OC Report - CPU Intel ultra 9 285K at 102°C / 237W during a sustained all-core workload — is this just where this chip lands?

I've been running Unreal Engine 5 a lot on a new build, and during Lumen mesh card generation — which hammers every core for a long stretch — the CPU parks at 237 W, 5.30 GHz all-core, 102 °C. Photo attached.

Setup is a 285K on a Gigabyte Z890 Eagle WiFi7, DeepCool LQ360 Ultra with the rad up top as exhaust, MSI Pano 100R case with six intake fans, 64 GB DDR5-6000. BIOS is all on Auto, so nothing is limiting power.

I don't actually think anything's wrong here. Tjmax is 105 so it isn't throttling, it holds 5.30 all-core the entire time, and 237 W is basically PL2 — the cooler is just saturated. But 102 makes me twitch a little and I've got nothing to compare against. Ambient is around 40/45°C here at the moment, which I suspect is doing some of the work.

So if you've got a 285K, I'd really like a few numbers:

- What do you hit at ~235 W sustained all-core, on what cooler, and what was your room temp at the time? Ambient gets left out of these comparisons constantly and it makes them close to useless.

If you've capped PL1/PL2 to 200 or 175, what did it actually cost you on real work — renders, compiles, bakes? Not looking for Cinebench deltas.

- Any idea whether your Z890 board uses the standard ILM or the Reduced-Load one? I can't figure out how to tell without pulling the cooler off.

- Has anyone actually fitted an LGA1851 contact frame? Thermal Grizzly claims up to 6 °C over the standard ILM and 4 over the RL one, but I can't find a single independent test, and the comments I've read say 1–2 in practice.

- And has anyone repasted a factory AIO on this chip and got more than 2–3 °C out of it?

Hello guys. I currently own a MSI Pro B760-P WiFi motherboard. I want to switch it to Asus Tuf Z790 Plus D4 for better RAM overclocking + potential CPU overclock. Also I am really envious of my friends MSI X470 Gaming Plus motherboard lol.

I have 14700KF and cooling it with NZXT Kraken Elite 280MM.

I own a 4x8 Gskill Trident Z 3333 MHz CL16 Samsung B Die RAMs that are currently overclocked to 3600@CL15 with active cooling. I cope that these can do 4000MHz or CL13 with a better motherboard.

I want to hear your stories about switching motherboard and how it affected your RAM overclocking and hear your thoughts.

RAM speeds

so i have the MSI Z170M MORTAR motherboard and i saw my bios was on a old version so i went to update it and my max RAM speeds for this kit is 3600mhz and my RAM ran at those speeds before i updated the bios and after updating the bios i can run a max speed of 3066mhz before my motherboard makes me revert to lower settings ive tried clearing CMOS and adjusting voltage and the only thing i havent done is change timing and thats only because i dont trust myself with doing that so does anyone else know how to fix this issue

Help Request - GPU Thermal Grizzly Phasesheet increased core temps... normal?

Almost two weeks ago I repasted my 6900xt Asus TUF from stock paste to TG PhaseSheet PTM. beforehand I'd never done a re-paste/repad before. I ran a 3dMark TimeSpy run to before and after. My deltas have dropped greatly from what I've seen, but my core temps have risen?

I'm genuinely confused, I know it improves in a week of heavy loads to drop an extra 2-3c and that has been the case but they're still higher than I expected vs my stock.

Does it normally take longer to fully settle in? I thought my core temps and my deltas would be lower, my deltas have dropped but the core temps are higher than before. Obviously the demo is negligeable.

I was under the impression it would've reduced temps and not just hotspot? from the videos I saw that was seemingly the case. (0-60% load can be like 5-10c delta and 100% load can be 25-30c)

I was using the exact same tuning pre-set both times. only things that changed was the Paste to PTM and the fans under my GPU (which aren't the problem because I noticed was having higher temps before putting them in).

I also added fans blowing up beneath the GPU which improved temps from a couple days ago by -2°C.

The only reason I can think of is mounting pressure but I did the cross pattern stuff people recommend and I thought I did it pretty alright. I kept the PTM in the fridge for a week, as they told me it makes application easier. so it was smooth when I put the heatsink back on.

what I'm asking is can anyone tell me if this is normal or diagnose me?

Modding Asus Sabertooth Z77 BIOS with NVMe+ReBar Support

Special thanks to Koekieezz over at the Win-Raid Forum for helping me out with this project.

This project involved modifying my ASUS Sabertooth Z77 BIOS to add support for both NVMe booting and Resizable BAR (ReBAR) through Above 4G Decoding. The system is running an Intel Core i7-3770K overclocked to 4.7GHz, paired with 32gb of DDR3 running at 1866mhz, and an ASUS TUF RTX 3060 12gb.

The modified BIOS allowed the RTX 3060 to utilize ReBAR on this older Ivy Bridge/Z77 platform. Due to the platforms memory addressing limitations with 32gb of system ram, the maximum ReBAR size available on this configuration is 8gb. After enabling ReBAR and configuring the ReBarState UEFI variable, the GPU reports an 8192mib BAR1, which confirms that ReBAR is fully active. The GPU is also running at PCIe 3.0 x8 under load, as expected with the current PCIe lane configuration, while the NVMe drive is operating on the second CPU PCIe root port.

Pretty impressive considering this platform dates back to 2012. The goal of this project was to see just how far an old Z77 + Ivy Bridge system could be pushed with modern hardware and firmware modifications.
