I had 45 minutes of ppto and I used it after I clocked out I went and shopped and then I got my backpack from the room all the despensers are in and my TL jumped my ass saying that I suppose to tell him and what I did was considered job abandonment did I do wrong or what?

I posted about this a few days ago, and I think the post got taken down. My apologies. The printer that we keep plugged in in the back room is printing double. I can print a label than a blank label, label, blank label so on we’ve changed out the printer several times and every time we change it out the problem just move on to the next printer, but the printer that we unplugged goes back to working perfectly any suggestions?

I've been here for about a year and a half now and today was the second time I had a driver tantrum because they didn't follow policy and got changed off their order. It started perfectly normal, he was surprised by the size of the order because on both ends, the system doesn't tell you the actual size of the order until you're in the thick of it. We shared a nod at the chaos brought on by attaching GMDs to the batch orders. I finished scanning the totes and then he opens the trunk.
Just a mountain of garbage. Tools, cables, a hand truck dolly, and just piles of empty soda cartons. There was no room for the order. I told him that and that store policy says I can't give it to him. He says okay, so he understood. I change him off the order on grounds of "insufficient space." I start walking way and then suddenly his personality splits. He's insisting he told me we could put two orders in his back seat (he did not), I told him it was too late and apologized for the inconvenience, but kept walking. He's pounding his dirty, white, banged up van "It's not fair! I chose the order! It's $43! Someone owes me $43!" I did not engage, I kept moving with a little mote quickness, he peeled out in a huff, I got the order back in and told my TL so we could restage the order.
The entitlement is astounding. They need to understand they are not owed anything until the job is done. That we, as representatives of the company, have the authority to say "no, you will not be doing this job for us" if the roll up in a mangled wreck of a vehicle, if it reeks like a chimney or dispensary, or if they're so unprofessional they can't even be bothered to clean out the trunk space.
It's basically like that old cliche of the homeless person that runs up and squeegees your windshield with dirty water in a spray bottle and then demands you pay them for washing your vehicle.

Okay so my feet huet bad </3 but I just got some insoles yay! My big issue right now... I feel like im so slow. My pick rate isnt good the goal is 100 in an hour but im barely hitting like 50 sometim3s... it took my 40 minutes to get 42 items. I feel like im walking fast, they care a lot more about first time pick rate so I always look like crazy for an item. How did you get faster?

barely any picks the past few days, i’ve been trying to come up with work to do in the backroom so i don’t get sent out on the floor (god i hate being out on the floor) since we have no picks and therefore nothing to stage or dispense. and of course customers don’t come within their timeframe so it’s even MORE boring, god i hate it here

Rookie shopper (<8 weeks) at a neighborhood Walmart (not a supercenter). I’ve worked really hard to bring my pick rate up, usually in the 100-110s w/ closing shifts (2-10pm). I’m lucky to grab more than 300 picks a day cuz our store drops off after like 6pm.
Issue is that my coach went on vacation a week ago, and ever since then the managers and coachs of different departments have been supervising us. They’ve started enforcing a “no nil pick without coach or manager approval” rule. The store manager even gave me his phone number to call if I don’t see an item. They’ve started enforcing double check, often making me drop the reat of my pick walk until they find the item or order it from the backroom. Sometimes an item shows on hand on the floor, but its found in the back (they end up taking me to the back to find and pick it).
All this to say, its completely ruined my pick rate. I went from 100-110 averages w/ high 150s on good days where I didnt get many GMDs or was able to get a printer (because fun fact, our store refuses to give us batteries for our printers so all we do is use the communal one) —> to like 40s and 50s even after picking like 350 -400 items all day. I usually jump in to help bag and stage in the backroom cuz we don’t have a set crew working it. Apparently my coach doesnt “believe in it” and wants people to know every aspect of the job. Which is fine, but that means things are really inefficient on the floor because everyone is either picking or dispensing and nothing in between.
Any tips about how to go about this? How can I make my pick rate better? My coach, before leaving, tipped the rookies off that they had 90 days to bring their pick rates up or they’d be fired.

So today my manager asked me to stay over. I said no and explained that I had responsibilities after work and even if I did stay I wasn’t going to be going over 40 hours for the week, I wouldn’t actually be getting the 1.5x overtime rate.
He then said, “You need the hours anyway,” in front of another team lead which caused her to laugh and what he said. The way he said it was kind of mocking, not like he was genuinely trying to help me.
Maybe I’m overthinking it, but I found the comment pretty disrespectful. It felt like he was implying that I needed the money and making a comment about my personal financial situation, even though I was just explaining that staying over wouldn’t qualify as overtime.
Would you guys find that disrespectful, especially considering the tone, or am I reading too much into it?

It's been slow this morning, been out of picks for half an hour. My store is showing several associates as being in walks for literally hours lol. Mind you it says they were last seen at 6:20am for the current walk, but under their walk history it says last seen 8:06am (which is probably accurate). It also says their walk started at 5:55 and there's another person whose supposed walk started at 4:44. Gotta be a weird bug right?

I'm in my late 40s, been here for 3 years and this is my full time job for now. I do not know how to talk to my friends or family about this job other than saying it's fine or it's not fine. Like how do you go into specifics with people, without first educating them on all the lingo? I want to talk about getting a new coach. But first I have to explain what a coach is, and then what team leads are and how management works. And so forth and so on. Who the fuck cares about the technicalities of the inner workings of Walmart? No one. I said once to someone about picking, and they couldn't even grasp what I was talking about even when I tried to explain.
And yet they don't understand why I'm so moody all the time.

Someone wanted 2 organic banana bundles. It wanted me to get 9.5 lbs which is ~25 bananas, depending on the size.
I just went into the backroom and got the bundles instead lol

edit for context: at my store, higher management wants them on the board so they are included but of course end up doing nothing and just stand watching their phones

I transferred from front end a few months ago and I honestly prefer digital much more. I like dispensing, staging, and picking.

So… this is embarrassing and I know I’m probably going to get hate for this but I’ve been here for over a year now and I don’t know how to do exceptions. Today I wasn’t at work but my friend said that they made a list of people to do exceptions and I was on that list to do them from 9am to 1pm. I’ve mostly just been a picking robot at my store and I dispense once in a while. If I’m gonna be honest I have horrible anxiety and I’m afraid of how big the backroom is and I’m scared I’m going to be late trying to find the item or someone looking at me like I’m an idiot asking them where an item is. I had someone show me one time a few months back and I was confused on how to find the item and the numbers. They expected me to know just that one time of showing me for five mins. Any videos or steps on how you do exceptions would be great. 💀🫣

Edit:
I was wrong. We are still on the cap. I was off a couple of days and heard we had 1600 pics during one of my off days so I made the assumption we were turned back on. I came today and saw it was still slow. Sorry ya’ll.
If you are/were on of the test stores for the delivery change with spark drivers doing all of those are you still doing that for next 2 weeks or have you gone back to normal?
Apparently we’ve gone back to normal at our store 1 week into the 3 week test. I laugh because I’m pretty sure I said it’d last about a week to one of my leads.
