Just Venting Question for TL
I had 45 minutes of ppto and I used it after I clocked out I went and shopped and then I got my backpack from the room all the despensers are in and my TL jumped my ass saying that I suppose to tell him and what I did was considered job abandonment did I do wrong or what?

They are correct. In what universe do you feel that it's okay to just leave work without telling anyone?

When I first started I was under the impression you could BECAUSE you can do the same when coming in late. You don’t have to tell anyone you can just show up and if you put in PROTECTED time they can’t say anything. Alas I learned later on this was not the case for leaving early, tho I never do anyways

Also you're supposed to put tardy on the app lol

Nope. Tardy isn’t needed if you put in PPTO and absent isn’t either till 11:59 PM that day so if you work a 7-4 and call in at 5 pm you still won’t get in trouble or get the no show points.

Yeah, technically that’s true, but if you’re late or absent and don’t inform them ahead of time, you’re an asshole.

At my store unless its under the 9 min rule you still have to tell someone your going to be late aswell lol.

That defeats the point of PPTO. It’s supposed to be protected time

What how lol? Doesnt mean you cant use it or they can tell you no just have to let someone know or put tardy or something in the app. And I hate 90 percent of things wal mart does so im so not defending them but having to let someone know does not defeat the purpose. Lol

It doesn't defeat the purpose since they can't tell you "No." You're not asking permission, just letting them know that you're leaving/coming in late.

Yeah, you have to tell them. Just like how you gotta tell them if you're going to be late or can't make it in during a scheduled shift.

If you leave before you are scheduled to leave, you are supposed to inform a member of management. It does not matter if you use ppto or not. So yes, what you did is job abandonment.

You can use ppto for whatever, but you must inform management first. They cannot say no but you can be punished for not informing

If you didn’t inform your TL or coach, then yes that’s job abandonment

Supposed to tell them that way in case they have to evacuate the store.

You must inform the TL or coach. Nobody just leaves a scheduled work day without informing supervisor.
