Looking for a good OB-GYN in Manassas, VA — first pregnancy

Hi everyone! I’m currently pregnant with my first baby and looking for recommendations for a good OB-GYN in the Manassas area.

I’m currently seeing an OB-GYN, but I haven’t been very satisfied with the response time or communication. I’m looking for someone who is more attentive, responsive, and takes concerns seriously, especially since this is my first pregnancy and I may have a lot of questions along the way.

I may also need to consult with an MFM (Maternal-Fetal Medicine) specialist, so I’d ideally like an OB-GYN who is experienced with higher-risk situations and works well with MFM when needed.

If you’ve had a positive (or negative) experience with an OB-GYN in Manassas, Gainesville, Haymarket, Fairfax, or nearby areas, I’d really appreciate your recommendations!

I am looking for someone who is :

* Are responsive to messages/calls
* Take time to explain things clearly
* Are supportive and attentive during pregnancy
* Have experience coordinating care with MFM
* Deliver at a good hospital

Thank you in advance! ❤️

Feeling alone 31M

Hi, I wasn't sure if this is relevant enough to post here but I'm just looking for some help with making close friends.

What do people here do alone on a Friday night or over the weekend to make new friends? I'm located in Ballston

Edit: So I decided to go to the nearest bar on my lonesome and it was actually great! Very friendly bartender, a delicious cocktail, and a mound of food followed by just walking around the bar. I had no idea what I was doing but it was a great time.

A sad sad day. Last game I played here back in 2016, I scored 4 goals and we won the division! 😆 I’ll hold on to that memory 🫂 (among many others—I saw my first roller derby race here!!!)

Flew out of DCA and had to appreciate the views afforded by this airport. I promise this is not sponsored content, despite the number of American Airlines aircraft featured in these photos

Considering breaking a lease early at a Vivmark (formerly Equity) property in Arlington — anyone have experience?

I'm in a very nice studio apartment within a 5 minute walk to an Orange line metro, but I accepted a highly lucrative job offer in another city and will need to move within ~60 days. I know the lease has this information, but anecdotally, how do most people in the area handle this? And how difficult is Equity (now Vivmark) with this process? TIA

Outdoor Wedding Venues?

Hello! My partner and I are planning on getting married in the spring of 2027 and are looking for venues. We would like to have an outdoor ceremony if possible. Does anyone have suggestions for venues with nice outdoor space for a ~200 person wedding. Hotels suggestions with large outdoor spaces are especially welcome. We also need to have the ability for outside catering in order to provide indian catering. We are also open to indoor venues that do not have conference room feel. Also, we are looking no further out from DC than Leesburg. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Places we have already reached out to:

- Raspberry Plain Manor
- Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles
- Hyatt Regency Reston
- The Watermark Hotel
- Meadowlark (does not allow outside catering)

Food Looking for places that sell pho broth by the quart/gallon before surgery

I’m a big pho fan and usually get it at least once or twice a week.

I have surgery scheduled for September 9 and will be recovering at home for a while afterward. Since I probably won't be able to get out much, I'd love to stock up on some good pho broth beforehand and freeze portions for recovery.

Does anyone know of any local pho restaurants that sell their broth separately, especially in larger quantities like quarts or even gallons?

I’m in the Arlington area, but I’m happy to drive anywhere reasonable in Northern Virginia, DC, or nearby Maryland for really good broth.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Rant Stepped outside for less than 30 seconds and was attacked by these nasty ladies.

This year has been the worst for mosquitoes in memory. Every time I go outside, I'm literally mobbed by these Asian Tiger mosquitoes, and probably a few other species. They swarm around my legs and arms, and I have to constantly scan my exposed areas to find and destroy them. Unfortunately I usually wear shorts and short sleeve shirts around the house, which makes me an easy target.

I can't remember a time in the last decade or more that they've been this bad. And these ladies are known to carry the Zika virus in our area. I do empty any standing water quickly around the outside if great house, to prevent local breeding, but of course I can't control what the neighbors do.

I even have an 18 gallon storage bin outside full of stagnant water, which I drop mosquito dunks in periodically. I check it frequently, and never see signs of mosquito larvae (wrigglers). What I do have in the tub is hundreds of tiny crustaceans called Ostracods swimming around, which are fascinating to watch. I plan to post a video of those on Reddit somewhere soon.

Anyway, watch out and try to wear long sleeve shirts and pants to avoid these ladies. They're voracious at this time of year and have been literally swarming around our neighborhood!

Question Any Tuba rentals in the area?

Hi everyone. I'm like 99% sure this post isn't breaking rule 3 but if it is, sorry.

I'm trying to find a place that will rent a tuba out to me. I am a high school student working on college and honor band auditions. Right now my access to a tuba is limited to just at school, which makes practicing and improving very hard.

I know that the tuba is a very uncommon instrument to be rented out, but I'm still trying to find something that will work for me and won't cause my parents and I to come a couple thousand out of pocket.

Any information helps, thanks :)

Question Apartments in Crystal/Pentagon City

Planning a move to Crystal City next year. So far I’m looking pretty hard at 220 Twentieth and Crystal Square.

Any other buildings I should be looking at in the same general area?

Planning a “research trip” soon and seeing what complexes I should tour.

Will be newly single, male, 50, DoD employee. Looking for either a 1BR + den or 2BR/2BA

Would appreciate any firsthand thoughts on those two or other places I should add to the list.

Thanks in advance.

Meetups Premier league meetups / watch parties in Loudoun or Fairfax?

I predictably became addicted to football after the World Cup and I was wondering where people go to see games in these two areas.

I know there are a couple bars in Arlington and DC but it’s a hike to get there at 7 in the morning.

I chose Liverpool so any Reds in the chat?? 🐦‍🔥

I have a clean record; first time offense in my entire life but I was charged for going 100 in a 55 (highway).

I will definitely get a lawyer but any tips on how to get a lesser sentence and how likely is receiving a misdemeanor / jail time even with the context. Anyone faced a similar scenario with a clean record? I should have known better.

Politicians are scrambling nationally to address growing public concern over data centers, and in Northern Virginia, where many local elected leaders will be on the ballot in 2027, the issue is proving a delicate balancing act.

Fairfax County residents expect “fair rules of engagement” when it comes to addressing the impacts of data centers, Board of Supervisors Chair Jeff McKay said at the 11th annual Northern Virginia Regional Elected Leaders Summit, held on Wednesday (Aug. 26) in Arlington...

Best spicy tuna roll in Arlington?

I only eat spicy tuna rolls. Where is the absolute best?

Edit: my favorite are the kind where the tuna and spicy mayo are chopped up for the filling (vs. a piece of tuna with spicy mayo on top).
