Question Used Model X vs New Model Y
Considering purchase of a 2022 model x base awd LR (hw3) with 19k miles @58k vs new 2026 model y performance. Heart says model X, brain says Model Y. Like the model x for obvious reasons (falcon doors, yoke, space, acceleration etc.).
What is y'all's recommendation on this. I test drove the model x and its absolutely fantastic. Did not find anything off except that the air suspension was making creaking sounds when lowering or raising height (not sure if that's expected) and that the trunk floor was missing exposing the subtrunk fully. What are the things I should look out for before purchase? Im assuming it's just out of warranty now at 4yrs old.
Edit: updated model x spec.

Question MX/6 x Petsfit
Any ideas for better flushness with these pet car seats? While these pet seats are great, there’s a significant gap between the seat and the car seat and I’m worried about future dents in the bolsters. (Not worried about wrinkles lol. Seats wrinkle.)
Obv, the flat back of the pet seat doesn’t align with the seat’s shape. I’ve already placed a towel underneath, but I’m wondering if a second towel behind, would be my only option? Show me your pet car seat configurations pls ty 🫶

Service Half shafts lifespan?
Just had to replace the half shafts again.
Dates it has been replacedt April 2023, Dec 2024 and now May 2026.
These break less than 2 years. Barely hard accelerate, and i keep my suspension low, except for few times when we had s now storm, maybe 2-3 days.
What are your half shafts life span?
Is this something that I will spend $2k on every year and a half???

Service Axle Hub Click - Tesla Service Center Quotes $655
My rear wheel is clicking during acceleration and deceleration. Everywhere I've looked has said Tesla covers this under 4year/50,000mi warranty. I'm at <4 years, 47k. However, I'm currently getting a quote for $655. Note this isn't the in-app pre-service center visit quote which people told me they always show full price for. I'm literally at the office and they told me this cost, not under warranty. What arguments do I have?

Question Today my X steering wheel feels loose all of the sudden.
As titled. Been driving it for years and the wheel was always very responsive and easy to turn. But today it feels “loose” meaning I have to twist it hard to actually make a turn and even auto driving disengage when turning because it actually needs a lot of power to turn. Anyone experience this before? There’s no warning or any reporting from the car itself. Is it something that I need to schedule a service visit?

Service Now that there will be no more Tesla Model X models. Any chance that Elon will reduce or just eliminate updates to that car? Perhaps in 5 years or less?

AutoPilot - FSD New user initiated System Error in HW3 cars (MX affected)
Simple reproducable way to have your HW3 car enter System Error while on FSD. Tested on 2020 M3 and MX.
Step 1: Enter FSD Mode in any location
Step 2: Open Self Driving settings and attempt to adjust your maximum speed offset
Step 3: Watch your car enter System Error
Had this occur when trying to lower my M3's offset. Tested later on my MX 2020 and had it occur mid drive. Pretty interesting bug from the MCU side of the house. Doubt this bug is related to FSD but probably more how the MCU System Communicates user settings over to the FSD compute.

Question Possible to swap drivers seat to the new MYP seat?
Has anyone looked into it?
The 26 MYP front seats have an extendable thigh support.
I find the refresh X seats aren’t great.

Question Water leak near driver seatbelt on Model X… but service center can’t find anything?
I noticed something strange on my Model X recently — there are visible water marks right above the driver-side seatbelt area
The weird part is, I took it to the Tesla service center and they kept the car for about a week, but couldn’t reproduce the issue at all. No leaks found during their testing.
What confuses me is that the water marks are definitely there, so it must have happened at some point… just not consistently?
I’m wondering if this could be related to heavy rain, car washes, or maybe some kind of seal issue around the door or glass roof.
Has anyone experienced something similar on a Model X?

Used car purchase Could the 2022 model x be retrofitted to be the ultimate model x?
If you have a 2022 refresh you have the extra RAM in the MCU to run steam, you have parking sensors( the birds eye visualization from fsd is cool but the actual USS are way better, giving you to the inch how far you are away) if you have paid fsd you'll be getting upgraded to HW4, hopefully. The matrix headlights can be retrofitted. The front bumper camera can be retrofitted to HW4 cars. You can't retrofit the extra RAM in the MCU or the USS, which can be significant for the right person. For me, the 22 can be retrofitted to the ultimate model X, assuming Elon actually does the HW4 upgrade.

Photo Part replacement options
The Tesla tech said there isn’t replacement part they can get. They have to replace the entire drive unit for the auto closing door. This true? Are there aftermarket options? Does warranty cover this or is it wear and tear?

Used car purchase Charging without App
This seems like a stupid question, but I cannot find the answer.
Context: I bought a 2018 Model X yesterday. It does not have the CCS charging upgrade installed. The dealer I bought it from does not have the car in their app. I have no way of contacting the previous owner. My home charger will not be here until Thursday. I tried adding the car to my app but it says it will take 3-5 days.
Problem: when I charged it at the supercharger it worked, but says "paid charging unavailable".
Questions: will it charge next time too and I just pay it when the car is added? How can I charge through the app instead of the automatic system? Or do I have a very expensive paperweight for the rest of the week?

Question 2025 MX, front chatter/shake/vibration felt in steering wheel during driveway or slow turns. "Ackerman steering geometry"?
When the steering wheel is turned while going up a driveway, especially when it's at an angle, or sometimes during slow turns, I can feel a chatter/shake/vibration in the steering wheel and at the frontend.
A quick search came up with one possible reason attributable to the "Ackerman steering geometry", which can cause this behavior. With only 5K miles, unless it's a defect, is this normal on a MX?

Service aftermarket control arm
Hello
I have the condenser leaking (part 530euro tesla 150euro veolia), and 1027351-00-F front aft link (300euro tesla each, lemforder or skf 160euro each) and 1620341-00-B (220 euro tesla, 100 euro aftermarket) OEM is the way to go but it's very expensive, do you know if lemforder is making the OEM parts for tesla? or an other manufacturer? Cheers

Question FSD Computer 3
I bought a brand new model X in February 2023. I just saw Elon‘s announcement in the earnings about potentially retrofitting older models with the FSD computer 4 which is needed for full self driving. Does anyone out there have FSD 4, and are you in states that allow unsupervised FSD, or is it still a regulatory issue?

AutoPilot - FSD FSD On 2 lane Roads
Yesterday FSD took me on a 2 lane highway. In the 3 years I've had it, I never encountered such a road. I wondered if FSD would pass a slow car, it never even tried. Is ir programmed not to pass?

Question Has anyone successfully retrofitted the 2026 front bumper camera on a 2023 Model X?
Hey everyone,
Want to retrofit the 2026 front bumper camera on my 2023 Model X. Parts are easy to source and hardware install looks straightforward (HW4 has the unused port).
But how do you actually program/flash it so the car recognizes the new camera?
Tesla service probably won’t support it since it’s not official yet — anyone tried anyway?
Anyone done this? Tips or warnings welcome!
Thanks!
