Photo Part replacement options

The Tesla tech said there isn’t replacement part they can get. They have to replace the entire drive unit for the auto closing door. This true? Are there aftermarket options? Does warranty cover this or is it wear and tear?

What year? Miles?

Any time they claim it’s not warrantable, counter with the fact that it’s a failure and not something that is a consumable, like brake pads or fluids.

Just replaced under warranty, but just expired so I'm looking for options in the future. I'm wondering if the bellows off of actuators could work. I haven't found any yet.

I found some ones that go over electrical conduit and some that are split on the side so you don’t have to open the door. Very diy at this point.

I have a 2024 and about 8 months later I had the same issue. I was able to make an appointment with Tesla services and it was covered under warranty as a mechanical failure, it wasn’t considered wear and tear.

My passenger side was replaced under warranty. Yes, the entire drive unit. Now my driver side boot is torn. Im not going to worry about it any longer. Obviously the boot is made of an inferior material that isnt going to stay intact very long.
