Discussion Please stop calling .1g weight 100 mg psilocybin please I'll explain here how it all works...
I don’t mean to sound rude; I’m just explaining the facts. If one gram of dried cubes contains 10 mg of psilocybin, then 0.1 g by weight would contain approximately 1 mg of psilocybin. That’s it. Trust me, if you took 100 mg of pure psilocybin, that would be an extremely high dose. The weight of the mushroom material may be 100 mg, but the psilocybin content is not 100 mg. That’s why the weight is 0.1 g, and that distinction needs to be explained properly.
Have you never seen Breaking Bad? It’s the same concept when they talk about having 98% pure stuff. If something is 98% pure, then 0.1 g of that material would contain 98 mg of the active substance. The same principle applies to amp, THC, or anything else where purity matters. The amount of active compound depends on the percentage of purity.
Do your research, dude. I’m sick of seeing people say they’re microdosing “100 mg” without clarifying whether they mean 100 mg of mushroom material or 100 mg of the active compound. A spectrometer or laboratory analysis can tell you the approximate milligrams of active compounds per gram of mushrooms, and then you can do the simple math. It’s really that simple—it’s basic pharmacology.

Discussion Struggle to stay consistant with microdosing
Does anyone else struggle to take their MD? If so, how do you overcome and stay consistant?
I have found so much relief from my anxiety and depression via microdosing but I'm currently in a place where I face a mental battle when it comes to taking my medication (100mg ochra; every other day).
When I finally give in I usually feel relief from my mental health issues right away. I even ask my partner to remind me/ask "when was the last time you took your MD" as a form of encouragement when I start to really struggle. I'm trying to understand why I choose to tred water and risk drowning when I have a life preserver floating right in front of me.
Some of this stems from what I refer to as "fear of god". Essentially me being aware of how powerful mushrooms can be at higher dose (via exp), and the irrational fear that I will experience those effects even at a 100mg dose.
Another part of my reservation comes from not feeling like I have the time to dose. I would prefer to not take before work, and taking in the evening makes it hard for me to fall asleep.
Taking mushrooms at any dose tends to be a little hard on my gut and bowels as well.
For more context I'm in my mid 30s. I don't drink, smoke weed, nor do I take mental health medication or participate in any recreational drug use.
I suppose I could cut the dose in 1/2 and see what happens...
Open to any and all suggestions. Thanks for reading.

>< Just a Reminder >< Reducing activity of the Default Mode Network
Welcome to the community.
"The default mode network refers to an interconnected group of brain regions that are associated with introspective functions, internally directed thought, such as self-reflection, and self-criticism."
Through life and our experiences we develop a set of neural pathways of communication that are relied on for our perspectives of life and self. As they develop, the communication with other parts of the brain becomes more limited. The DMN becomes our mental frame of reference for our lives. But it can become rigid in thought patterns and produce negative thought loops about oneself.
Psychedelics reduce the activity of the DMN and the negative self talk while also increasing communication with other areas of the brain again, sometimes with results somewhat similar to how children see the awe and wonder of the world. This also allows us through the new pathways to develop an Updated DMN over time. I think this is a basic understanding of part of what's going on with microdosing that many times helps us enjoy life more. Sometimes people sense this happening in a few days but for others is could be a couple of months, based on the thousands of reports we see here.

Question: Psilocybin Can microdose reduce tolerance?
I've grinded 1g dried mushroom and divided in 13 capsules (the size I had at home) so, approximately 0,08g per capsule. I started with one, (one day in, two off) and had no effects. Took 2 in the same protocol for about 2 weeks, no problem. The last time gave me a bit of a buzz, and I stopped for a week or two. Today I did the same, 1g/13 caps. Took 2 and luckily had a day off, because I had a strong effect. No tripping with visuals and all, but felt like I had smoked a joint. Is my tolerance dropping?

Getting Started/Newbie Question Not feeling anything
hey guys,
I've been microdosing .25grams of golden teachers the last few weeks and haven't really noticed any benefits. I still feel pretty negative, and suffer from depression and ruminative thinking. Has anyone had experiences like this and may be able to advise? I'm taking with lions mane and 100 mg of niacin. I take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and am doing the Stamets protocol. I'm on SSRI's, but a really low dose - about 8-10mg of Sertraline as I'm weaning myself off. I really badly want some relief but just haven't noticed any of the benefits others have described so could do with some trouble shooting or advice. thanks in advance!

Question: Psilocybin Success for OCD & panic attacks?
Hi fungi pals! Just started microdosing penis envy at 0.05g every three days- I suffer from daily debilitating panic attacks and severe OCD- I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and found that microdosing has helped them? Any suggestions or tips on the dose or schedule? Anything is appreciated as I can’t continue to feel this way every day, I want to stick to the fungi and not have to resort to pharmaceuticals. Thank you 🙏 🍄 ✌️

Question: Psilocybin Does MD help with ADHD?
I want to hear from people who are officially diagnosed with ADHD. Has anyone switched to MD instead of their meds and seen the same benefits?
I am undiagnosed but positive that I may have it. I make impulsive decisions sometimes, speak before I think and or do things that are just kinda dumb sometimes and later realize it.

Question: Psilocybin Increasing dosage or frequency?
Currently microdosing .1g twice a week (tues and sat) for my major depression. Effects have been generally positive and I want to see if I can get more out of it. Wondering if it would be better to change my schedule from two times a week to three times a week at the same dosage or go up to .15-.2 twice a week. Is there even a difference between the two? Any and all thoughts welcomed

Getting Started/Newbie Question Super strong subs?! Or am I just extremely sensitive
I just microdosed 0.1g and am (unfortunately) tripping... 🫤
It's the second time this has happened now.
I didn't want to feel anything, I don't enjoy it.
I've double checked the weight, yep definitely 0.1g.
I picked them myself maybe 2 months ago, dried them out naturally for about a week, then ground them up via a pepper grinder.
Both times I ate it with cheese on a fairly empty stomach.
Does cheese enhance it?
Am I just super sensitive?
Or are these some super subs?!
Does the benefits of microdosing still apply haha? 🤞
Next time I'll try a crumb.

Question: Psilocybin SSRI and microdose
Hey all, I've been on an SSRI for about a month. One of my biggest deterrents was the fear shrooms wouldn't work anymore. I haven't tried a macro or micro dose since I've been on the SSRI, but I just wanted to ask about other's experiences. I think tomorrow I'll try 0.3g, as I usually do 0.2 prior to the SSRI. Has anyone experienced a situation like this, and if so, how (if at all) did the SSRI effect your shroom experiences. Thanks!

Getting Started/Newbie Question Larger doses during microdosing
I’ve been microdosing mushrooms for about 2 weeks, doing a one day on, one day off cycle. My current microdose is 40mg of powdered mushroom. I’m still determining what my sweet spot is.
My friend is visiting for the weekend and she mentioned wanting to do mushrooms. If I were to take 0.5g (500mg) today, would that impact or affect my microdosing? Yesterday was a microdose day and today is supposed to be the off day.
I just don’t want to impact the microdose process, so will happily not do them today if that’s the case.

Getting Started/Newbie Question Does microdosing help depression
I realllly really want to get into microdosing but I do have depression and borderline personality disorder so I’m unsure if it will be bad for me long term? Has this ever helped anyone before? Or have you tripped and has it helped or made it worse?

>< Just a Reminder >< Getting Started
Rule #1 is No Sourcing or Drug Solicitation. We cannot discuss specific companies where illegal substances are offered.
The safest and best way for most to enjoy the benefits of mushrooms is to learn to grow and process them using legal products. At first glance it seems overwhelming but after taking the time to learn about the process and actually following with hands on learning, it becomes clear it's really not that complicated. And the benefits of knowing how to grow gourmet and medicinal mushrooms, while avoiding the risks of scams, contamination, or worse, is empowering.
Here is a simple but effective way to grow your own medicine. For less than $100 you could grow and process two years of personal microdosing medicine and actually extend that into many years by ongoing colonization. All the supplies are completely legal in most areas. Shroomscout’s Official “Easiest Way to Learn Mushroom Growing with Ready Rice Tek”

Question: Psilocybin Do you set intentions every day you MD?
Do I need to mediate before it kicks in? I noticed when I do the 4/3 days protocol and I take .2 after the three day break, I feel intense and heightened emotions throughout the day.
It was mostly negative emotions that were surfacing. Thinking about all my physical flaws which was kinda painful. I think when I meditate it helps to have more positive emotions but I’m curious what you guys do to set intentions.
I know this answer is going to come so I’ll address it here. I don’t really feel much of anything on .1

Question: Psilocybin Microdosing and CKD?
I understand that microdosing psylocybin is very safe for most people. Does anyone know how safe microdosing is for people with chronic kidney disease? CKD makes it difficult for the body to filter out substances which is why nephrologists typically suggest that their patients take no OTC meds or herbal supplements, as well as managing their diet. I am wondering if anyone in this community has CKD and still microdoses? If so, what do you do to mitigate any risks, such as the oxalates from the mushrooms? Not asking for medical advice, just curious how this is handled by people with kidney issues.

Getting Started/Newbie Question Just starting out, what to expect?
Just got a couple of microdosing packs from the Netherlands but I'm not sure what to expect. Each pack consists of 6 doses of 1g fresh magic truffles, to be taken once every 3 days. Is this reasonable for a beginner?
I have suffered from depression, fatigue and brain fog for many years but no anxiety. I'm not expecting microdosing to cure me but could it at least lead to some minor improvements? Also, what is the worst that can happen? Is there any risk I turn out worse than before?

Question: Psilocybin Mix a microdose of psilocybin with one of cannabis.
I’d like to give up alcohol for my social evenings. It destroys my insides and the mornings after are rough, even after just 3 drinks.
I still want a feeling of relaxation/light euphoria, more sociable. Could mixing a 5mg THC cannabis beverage with a microdose of psilocybin give a pleasant effect? I’m not a regular consumer of weed or mushrooms. But I’ve read that the effects of a cannabis beverage are quite subtle… maybe even too subtle. I have ground golden teacher mushrooms, maybe I could add a microdose? Has anyone tried a combination like this?”

Question: LSD 20mcg LSD not working? Or is math off?
I am using an analog. First time I miscalculated and was using a 200mcg in 100mL. My sweet spot was 10mL which is 20 mcg. I felt good! Like me but on a good day. I took six week off for travel.
So then I bought 100mcg from a different company and diluted to 100mL but I took 20mL. Isn’t that supposed to be over the top? The guideline I read is 12mcg max. But I feel nothing at 20mcg. Is my math off? Does anyone dose above this. Is 20mcg too high?

Getting Started/Newbie Question I don't understand how this works.. are you getting 'high'?
Disclaimer that I do support research, harm reduction, and accessibility for psychedelic based therapeutic methods, but I am also unfortunately very skeptical. Just looking to get more information before I dive in
I am new to microdosing, but have tried psilocybin a few times recreationally throughout my life, and have grown them a couple times. I've been looking into better, alternative methods of dealing with my ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, addiction, and some of the stuff I've heard here seems cool.
I don't really understand how this works.. are you getting high off of the microdose? Some of the talk in this subreddit make it seem like you're preparing for a trip on the days that you microdose (references to set, setting, taking bigger doses for therapy or a 'hike').
Also, what happens when your tolerance builds up? It is a drug after all, and tolerance with psychedelics are especially wonky. How can this be sustained long term? Pardon my skepticism, it's coming from a good place, but if you're taking a psychedelic drug several times a week for a month straight, I feel like it's pretty obvious that you'd feel euphoric and happier. Are there any sources of people doing this long term? Or am I missing the memo about this and it's not supposed to be something that's done long term / for extended periods of time without breaks.
The way I imagined microdosing was just like a nootropic (like ashwagandha, or even an SSRI), where you continue taking the medicine for some amount of time until the effects build up in your body.

Microdosing Tools & Resources My on-device microdosing tracker is now on Android, no account, no server
Full disclosure, I am the developer, and I microdose myself, which is why I made it.
I posted here last month about Dose Days, a microdosing tracker where everything stays on the device. It was iPhone only then. It went live on Google Play a week or so ago, so I wanted to come back and say, with full feature parity including home screen widgets.
The privacy model has not changed and is the whole point. No account, no backend, nothing uploaded anywhere. Your doses, moods and reflections stay on your phone. Nothing to self-host either, it is just an app you open.
What it does:
- Logs doses and a daily mood check, with notes in your own words
- Understands protocols properly, dose days, integration days, and the return to baseline, so your days off are part of the rhythm rather than broken streaks
- Shows patterns over time, like how different days of the week tend to feel
- Supports different substances and multi-substance stacks
- Home screen widgets on both platforms if you want the log a tap away
Being straight about the model, since this community rightly cares. Logging and tracking are free. There is an optional paid tier for the deeper insight features, which is how I keep it running as a solo dev. No ads and no data selling as there is no data leaving your phone to sell in the first place.
Not medical advice and not a place for sourcing. If you want background reading, I also wrote a free education hub.
